  1. Remember that week almost a year ago now when Dark Astoria wasn't dark? The fog was gone. It's actually a very beautiful area when you can see it.
  2. I've had this issue for a few months now (since GR pretty much) where reflective armor surfaces flicker. It's particularly obvious on the clockwork armor. And even car windows do it. I have a pair of NVIDIA GTX 295 cards in SLI mode and the latest NVidia Geforce drivers (266.58). Rolling back my drivers is not an option as the previous version of the driver that supported SLI is very buggy. Older versions of the drivers do not support SLI and I have no intention of sacrifice half my FPS to stop the reflective armor flicker which, while annoying sometimes, is not game breaking.

Anyone else seeing this issue with flickering reflective armor?

    Fastest ITF?

I like a steady pace. But I'm not the speed runner type normally. To my credit I was on a Tin Mage that we completed in 25 minutes, and it was hella fun. But it was the perfect team and we didn't leave any squooshy characters behind to fend for themselves. As long as we stay together as a team I'm all for a high speed TF. But I've had too many experiences where we all get split up on a 'speed' run. The squooshies are left to fend for themselves and often die trying to stay up with the tougher characters. And then the worst case senario where squooshies are told to wait at the mission entrance. What the heck is up with that? So I don't consider those types of speed runs fun at all.
  4. Just the other day one of my mid-level characters was sent to KR on a Tip mission. Next thing I knew I was taking a tour of the zone and remember what it was like almost 7 years ago exploring on my sub level 10 characters. I got a lump in my throat. But this is nothing new for me. I'm always pulled by nastalgia to visit places from my past in CoX. When was the last time you exited Founders through the Talos tunnel? Or stopped to watch a costume contest that caught your eye as you were passing through Atlas Park. Or join a group of dancers in Pocket D as you were passing through. I do things like that all the time. So Yeah, it's about the journey for me.
  5. Fears of what? That when you finally get a character to level 50 you don't have to retire them and make yet another alt? And the term, End Game, has nothing to do with the addition of content for level 50 characters. In fact, I call it Beginning Game (for my 50's). We've always had traditional end game raid content (Hami Raids, Mother Ship Raids), and no one ever worried about how that would negatively impact the game.

I'm actually drifting back to playing many of my lower level characters (alt-o-holic is me), now that I have had a chance to play some of my 50's again. And I'm having more fun with them now than ever before knowing that when I finally get them to 50 they will still be fun to play with the Incarnate system content. Give it some time, I'm sure most people who are spending most of their time playing their old 50's will come back to playing their lowbies again once the shiny starts to wear off.

  7. Simplest solution for me will be to avoid doing the WST this week. Not like I haven't been neglecting all my low and mid-level characters lately.

You can follow the story as well by clicking on the mission description icon in the navigation dialog. The problem is finding the time to pause and do so while everyone is running on to the next mission entrance.

And I'd just like to add that not everyone plays for the rewards, or to make my characters so awesome powerful that the challenges are mitigated. I play for the challenges. And I choose not to tweak out my characters with dozens of Set Bonuses because I like over coming adversity. My reward is the satisfaction I get from winning against the odds.

  10. This happens to me as well about 20% of the time I log out to the character select screen. But I just wait and after about a minute I crash back to the login screen where I can click login (it remembers my password) and get back into game without exiting completely back to the desktop.

Well, have you ever seen a cat turn his paw into a fist? How you gonna hit stuff without a fist? Though, I do wish animal paws for cats, dogs, wolves, etc. were available.

But that isn't how the bid system works. Anyone who is bidding higher than you will get it.

And speaking for myself personally, I only get 2 or 3 Set Bonuses on a character (usually -4 Knockback resist, Regeneration Increase, etc.). I do just fine on TF's and such. The devs have always lived up to their claims that features like Set Bonus IO's and even normal IO's were always optional. I completely agree from my own experience.
  13. Here is a list of words that I would love the on-line gaming community to stop using:

    Casual
    Hardcore
    Themepark
    Sandbox

These terms only serve to obfuscate. How we feel about our passions--in this case, the way we choose to play during our precious free time--cannot be adequately described or represented with single words. Perhaps a committee could get together and come up with definitions for these words that we all could agree upon? Yeah, right.
  14. I'm grateful for the middle-aged woman in my class who got the new job she was looking for all the way out in Chicago. Even though it does mean she will have to drop my class to move out there--and she was such a great student too!
  15. I was surprised that I got these two names recently:

    Shadow Protocol -- Clockwork Stalker
Sabre Protocol -- Clockwork Katana Scrapper
  16. Great suggestions, Stone Daemon. But I've always felt like I contribute a heck of a lot with my Ice/Storm controller (for example), as the mobs slog along in slow motion, attacking less frequently and getting tossed about my lightening bolts.

Little graphical effect? Multiple mobs in blocks of Ice provide quite a graphically pleasing sight.
  17. Try this and see if it works:

ENTER "bindloadfile pamphlet.txt$$e lecture$$afk This is SO important!$$startchat"

    Just out of curiousity.

Love this look! But since raindeer (male and female) shead their antlers at certain times of the year, I think loosing those antena would actually improve that raindeer appearance. But great costume either way, Deebs.
  19. I would play at work occasionally (during lunch and inbetween classes--I am a college teacher), but our computers here suck compared to my gaming rig at home. I do sometimes use Mids to workout the details of a respec here at work.

    Sigh.
So did everyone miss this comment from the interview: "The challenge is that it is very difficult to balance PvP in a game with over a thousand powers in hundreds of potential combinations, and we have made some changes in the past that didn't end up the way we wanted them to."

Seriously, you either have "balanced PvP" with very few power options, or you have "impossible-to-balance" PvP with with the myriad of power options that we enjoy. I'll take unbalance-able PvP any day if I have to give up power options to achieve it.

Haha! But seriously, with the addition of a hold from my Epic power pool my Elec/Elec Blaster has 3 holds. I play her like a controller with mulitple ranged attacks.

And the amazing part is it was still almost workable.
That's because everything in CoX optional. And even having a clue is optional when it comes to slotting powers (I'm an expert on that front), and you can still be viable.

  24. Thank you Steelclaw. Your listification (not a word, don't even try to look it up!) skills amaze me!

And this I can agree with completely. My stalker was born in Praetoria. And though I didn't mind the ambushes so much, I did hate how I couldn't get out of LOS and hide no matter what I did or how far away I got from the mobs.
