2010 4Q earnings
Ok, I suck at this and am not exactly sure how to read it, but
1 US Dollar today shows to equal 1127 Korean Won (approx).
The 2010 SALES info shows this
2010 (Unit : KR Mn Won)
City of Heroes / Villains
1Q-------2Q--------3Q-------4Q------Total
3,348 --- 3,491 --- 5,709 --- 3,239 --- 15,787
Not exactly sure how this is mean to be read however.. Is that 15,787 million Korean won?
If Im doing the math right (which I wont promise)
converted it looks like that was an estimated 14 million US $$ in sales assuming thats for everything sold. Boosters, slots, GR and subs (and whatever else).
Looks like its still earning enough to stay afloat
YAY !
Virtue Server Forever !
Pure White Lightning - Level 50 Electric Brute
Purple Drop - work in progress Axe/Shield brute
Blue Icefall - Level 50 Ice Tank
@Blue Lava
It's hanging in there, though it's still lower YoY. And they were short of their projected 2010 goal of 19,000 mn won
2004 31,475 (incomplete year 3 qtr)
2005 34,265
2006 25,016
2007 23,446
2008 24,217
2009 22,909
2010 15,787
Can also place the subscribers in a very rough ballpark figure of about 63k subs. Assuming all sales are from subscriptions...which it isn't, so that's an optimistic figure.
EDIT: Oh, for the exchange rate i was getting 1135.05837 won average ask price per US dollar for the period of october to december 2010.
there, no need to wait any more
it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

I don't mind having Korea and Japan subsidize my game.

"To die hating NCSoft for shutting down City of Heroes, that was Freedom."
They clearly need to release more booster packs
what quarter was the "pre-purchase" of going rogue in? By prepurchase I mean what program it was that let me play Dual Pistols before everyone else
GR pre-purchase was in 1Q 2010.
Not surprised.
Aww, I like City Of Heroes a hell of a lot, but I think my estimate for the lifetime of this game stands to what I said. I give it two more years. It's getting a bit long in the tooth now. Going Rogue certainly did not bring in the players that they had hoped to bring in. The DEPRESSION we're in has certainly had a negative effect too. I hope if things turn around people will resubscribe.
Funny thing is, just based on looking at the server load lights, it seems like there's a lot more players on consistently than there were before GR. I almost never used to see any of them in yellow/red apart from virtue and freedom unless there was some sort of event, now most of the list is usually yellow when I log in during prime time.
So where is the impact of all those players? Were they just players who were already subscribed but not playing very often? Seems a bit farfetched.

This is what it means to be a tank!

This is what 3700 heroes in a single zone looks like.
Thanks to @EnsonsDeath for the GVE code that made me VIP again!

Where are all these players that are here now, really? Not redside, atleast. I'm lucky if I can find a single non-rogue tip team at peak hours on the weekend on virtue. My MM is basically solo only since non-TF teams simply do not seem to exist (atleast not in her level range.)

City of Heroes comics and artwork
I'm beginning to think that the suspicions of the server loads only appearing to be at higher capacity are just that; an appearance. I'm on right now and Virtue is in three red, yet the zones are virtually empty. Not everyone is plowing down enemies on their fifties right now... Again, I hope this game holds out for two more years.

It better be one hell of a good cookie if you have wait 2 years.
Don't know GG, but I've been playing off and on since 2007 (new account here) and it just seems like it's well past its prime. Take into account that Going Rogue is without a doubt the last major investment into this game given the recent figures and the fact that a slew of old timers have moved on to other things. I wouldn't doubt that they have enough stuff in pipe line they've already invested in to last the next year, but after that... I'm not too sure. If the numbers continue the way they are now on such a downward trend...
