    Young Justice

Greta and Cisse did make a brief appearance early on in Geoff Johns' run on the new Teen Titans series if I'm not mistaken, mostly as token support for Cassie when she was having some kind of trouble with school administration. But yeah, neither of them have made any major reappearance yet. Though I keep hoping Cisse will turn up in connection to the new Green Arrow series at some point, or maybe in a new costumed identity in Teen Titans. "Artemis" from the new YJ cartoon bears a striking resemblance to our little Arrowette, after all.

I know Traya and her mother have fairly recently made appearances in JLA, since Red Tornado has been featured there in the past few years.

I'm wondering, Durakken, if you've read the Impulse series as well? Good, fun stuff, especially in the early issues.

These were given to me because the writing is good, I was told. And it is. Dan Slott is firing on all cylinders and except for a bad panel here and there Humberto Ramos' art isn't as goofy as I remember it. The Hobgoblin is completely badass, Kingpin is appropriately Machiavellian and Peter is all genius-y. The story is snappy and moves right along and whenever I got to the end of an issue I thought, "Was that only 5 pages long?" The introduction of the black suit actually makes sense, and Slott spent two entire issues setting up the reason for its existence. Of course, there's no real story reason for the suit to look any different, it's mostly just to remind the reader that Peter is switching things up. It's always nice to see him using his brains as well as his brawn. The arc starts with Spider-Man leading the Avengers into battle against Dr. Octopus' giant octopus robots -- 40 of them! -- rampaging through NYC, and Slott has little mysterious introductions which pay off later. I really like it when writers clearly have a master plan and reveal hints as they go along.

    Really good stuff. 5 stars.

Wait wait wait... Spidey actually wears that suit on the far right cover? It's not just some Tron: Legacy tie-in advertising gimmick? Or was I reading that wrong?

Anyway, glad to hear you think the writing is so good. I've only flipped through the occasional Spider-Man comic in the store since OMD/BND, so I might just check these out myself.

    .

Okay, so in this episode The Doctor says something along the lines of, "I've been told that I will hear 4 knocks before/when it's my time to die and I don't hear knocking, do you?"

I don't remember that ever being said. Which episode was that in? I did skip like 2 episodes in season 3 and 4 (maybe 2 even)....any clues (maybe I did see the episode it was said in but don't remember it)?
The prophesy was actually, "He will knock four times," and also included the line, "Your song is ending" (referring to what Ood Sigma told the Doctor in Season 4) and can be found at the end of "Planet of the Dead," the special that ran before "The Waters of Mars" aired.

Toldja it was important to watch 'em in order!
  4. Darkwing Duck #7 - Morganna vs. Magica! Darkwing vs. Negaduck! Gozmoduck vs. everybody else! All that plus the secret origin of Quiverwing Duck, and the menace that's been terrorizing the waters of St. Canard is finally revealed!

Brightest Day #16 - Most of the issue focuses on the new Aqualad learning his origins and interacting with Aquaman. There's also a framing sequence dealing with Firestorm's situation, along with a peek in at Deathstorm (aka Black Lantern Firestorm) and the abducted Prof. Stein and Mr. Rusch.

Green Lantern #60 - Hal and crew vs. a Parallax-posessed Flash and the being responsible for hunting down the Entities, whose identity is revealed at last on the final page. And in a nod to events in GLC, Sinestro seems to finally be responding to his daughter's abduction by the Weaponer in that series.
  5. *SPOILERS if you haven't watched the trailer yet*

Looks like Barbossa's had a rough time of it since we saw him last, if the peg-leg is any indication. And he seems to have become some sort of privateer for the British Navy, or something...
  6. The only movies I can think of are the Christmas specials and the occasional mini-episode for Children in Need set in-between Season 1 and 2 or Season 3 and 4, for example. If you're watching the series on DVD, all of those should be included somewhere. The Christmas Invasion is on the first disc of Season 2, and Voyage of the Damned is on the first disc of Season 4 (along with the relevant CiN specials). --edit-- Almost forgot The Runaway Bride, which should be on the first disc of Season 3.

After Season 4, there were four specials (five if you count both halves of The End of Time individually) that led up to the end of David Tennant's run on the series and transitioned into Matt Smith as the Doctor in Season 5. Those specials are The Next Doctor, Planet of the Dead, The Waters of Mars, and The End of Time Parts I & II, in that order.
  7. Maybe the Hub network isn't available outside the US? I don't know. But like you said, there are bound to be alternate ways to see it. I'm sure someone has no doubt uploaded the episodes to YouTube, somewhere...

I liked it. I've come to grips with the idea that Prime has a mouth behind his faceplate (after all, I lived through the Beast Wars era when the idea was first introduced) and the character designs by and large seem to be a decent mix of the Bayformer and Animated styles, though I do think they need to practice making the characters' mouth movements look a little better. I also think Starscream looks a little too wimpy or scrawny for my tastes. Yes, the human characters are kind of ridiculous, especially Miko's apparently complete disregard for her own safety for the sake of "cool" and Raf's plot device hacking skills. But thankfully the show keeps the focus squarely on the robots, for the most part, and the kids give a sense of scale to the Autobots and their battles, which is something that the Bay movies will hopefully have learned by the time Transformers 3 is complete.

Count me in for the rest of the series, when it starts!

    Thor trailer

Actually, Christopher Nolan has commented that 3-D conversion can look just as good as filming in 3-D if the studio takes the time and effort to get it right. It's only when they half-*** it (Clash of the Titans) that it looks bleh.

That said, I have no idea if they filmed in the format or not.

    Fixed that for you.

But I'm with you if you meant they should make the Autobots and Decepticons actual characters instead of eye candy cannon fodder. Sure, the 'bots and 'cons in the old cartoons had the most paper-thin of personalities and character traits, but at least they were there.

Who among the Bayformers do we actually know or care about so far? Prime, Bumblebee and maybe Megatron and Starscream?

And nobody WANTS to know or care about the Twins...
  12. Even Bay admits that the script for RotF was all kinds of messed up thanks in part to the writers' strike, and for some reason they weren't allowed to tweak/refine it into something more palatable during production. As long as they put more focus on the TFs as characters this time out, I think this could be an awesome concept.
  13. Reviews for Flash and JL: GL were already posted above, but I will add that the "theme" of the Capt. Boomerang spotlight on his life story seems to be one of karma. In other words, what you do comes back to you. Kinda clever in a way, I thought. Y'know... like a boomerang?

    Anyway.

Booster Gold #39 - Booster seems to be having problems with finally letting go of his old pal Ted (Blue Beetle) Kord again after their wacky adventures together in the past during the last few issues. Skeets tries to counsel him, and they run across some dumb kid trying (very poorly) to get in on the whole vigilante hero scene in Ted's old hometown.
  14. I think my favorite scene might be right after Rapunzel finally leaves her tower and she alternates between being ecstatic and completely freaking out.

    "This is great!!!"
    (2 seconds later)
    "I'm a horrible daughter!"

    That sort of thing. Heh.
  15. ...I so want to see the Borg vs. the Daleks now. Mechagodzilla vs. Original Megazord was EPIC.
  16. Sounds like good weekend matinee fare to me!
  17. Calling it now: G3 was founded by Galalunan refugees. Hence all the tech they had that Octus could access so easily. Their mysterious leader might even be Lance's lost father...

Also, Lance one again cements his status as a badass.
  18. Well, they do establish in the late game that there's a small but organized rebellion within the ranks of Arachnos, particularly among the Fortunatas and Bane Spiders trying to break away from the brainwashing and mental torture/experiments and whatnot...

It could always be sort of similar to how I explain Loyalist Praetorians going Heroside: you can still be loyal, even if you think the current leadership sucks. In other words, maybe your character really does think Arachnos is a good thing overall, but Lord Recluse and the rest of his cronies need to go.

  20. The only one I know of is her brief relationship with one Otto Octavius. Although... not really an enemy of Spidey's per se, but Aunt May did get married not too long ago to J. Jonah Jameson Sr. That's right, Spider-Man is now secretly in-laws with his least favorite newspaper publisher/political figure.
  21. Not sure how I feel about their depiction of Superboy yet, but I suppose it makes sense if Cadmus was trying to make a "good little soldier" for them to control when he took over as Superman. I just think having him as the brash, arrogant showboat of the team trying to hide his insecurities and inexperience might've worked better as a contrast with Superman instead of Grumpy McScowlpants, but whatever. The core three (Robin, Kid Flash and Aqualad) were all very well done, particularly in their interactions with each other and the initial fleshing out of their future roles in the new team. Although, part of me was kind of hoping we'd get a nod to Mr. Twister from the original comics team-up of those three in the episode.

Also, maybe just me, but I thought it was a nice touch getting CSI's George Eads to play Barry/Flash...
  22. My 3 50's are all supposed to be cosmic-level in power anyway, like on the same level as the Green Lanterns or Nova and that ilk, so that's going to be my built-in rationale for going Incarnate with them. I'm just going to pretend they were always that awesome.

    Sherlock

It really is worth a look, IMHO. They actually do some pretty clever things in updating some of the conventions and elements of the old stories, while turning others on their heads so if you're familiar with the originals you might still be surprised. Watson remains a former Army doctor wounded in Afghanistan, but Sherlock prefers to send text messages instead of telegrams and he uses nicotine patches instead of smoking.
