I liked the sequels too. They would have benefited from being trimmed down a bit into more streamlined plots, but they weren't awful. Bill Nighy makes a great villain.

Like Back to the Future, the first PotC movie wasn't planned to have a sequel. There was a happy ending and all was right with the world. But it made a boat load of money. Soooo they went ahead and made a two part sequel that unlike BttF, it took the happy upbeat ending of the first movie and made it bittersweet.

My main problem with 2 and 3 was the Bloom/Knightley romance blah, blah, blah. So looks like i'll like this more and more.
Although it does look like they've introduced another pairing instead.
Is Jack some kinda fairy god....thing, in heavy disguise, or something?

What I would like to see from one of these Pirates movies is... some actual pirating!! Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed the movies, but there just doesn't seem to be a whole hell of a lot of pirating being done by the "pirates". And I still think someone should slip a One-Eyed Willie reference in at some point.
