My search-fu is probably weak but didn't see a thread for it. The teaser trailer for the next Transformers film has been released.

The Youtube commentsare very enlightening as to why Bay gets away with what he does.

A movie has;
1) Action Sequences
2) Some hot chick
3) Profit!

I...shouldn't be surprised. I really shouldn't. But it's so mind numbingly depressing as to just how easily people are satisfied.

I might be ok. I might be judging unfairly. Maybe both of the other movies were bad luck flukes.
Don't get me wrong, they were decent enough action movies. But Transformers? Nah. They weren't that. Sorry.

(Give me Bays budget and some decent actors, now, that would be a whole different story! )

Even Bay admits that the script for RotF was all kinds of messed up thanks in part to the writers' strike, and for some reason they weren't allowed to tweak/refine it into something more palatable during production. As long as they put more focus on the TFs as characters this time out, I think this could be an awesome concept.

The one thing that has just bugged me on all the versions I have seen of the trailer is the compression. With footage it can be ignored but when they do those titles with the lens flairs, the quality just iritates me.

I'll probably go see it, loved the first, hated the second, wary of the third.

I seem to be an abberrant number in that I prefered the second film to the first.
While the second invariable had more of the naff humour that Bay seems to think is funny (the dogs...giant metallic boons...nuts and tasers), the first had so many throw away characters...so much...bleh about it. I mean, it wasw basically a teen angst movie about getting the girl. Woop de doo. Said girl also could barely act.

I mean, sorry, but you do not kill of Jazz, one of the oldest TF characters, and not even have a decent camera angle. Theres about a million different ways that scene could have been shot and been a crapton better.
There was a Youtube vid of filming on set for TF3. It started, and instantly it was all the military peeps running, opening fire, hunkering down behind burning cars. Bay was running around in the middle with a steady cam with this insane grin pasted on his face. I didnt even have to comment, someone had seemingly read my mind on what he was thinking;
"YeahYEAH woo more'splosions! Dakka! Boom! Yeah, more boom, moreboom, BOOM! BAM! Zow, pow, bang! Yeah, wooo! Yeah, I'm good at this!"

It's....it's like watching Warpath from G1's mental process. On a multi million dollar film set. It's just...argh.
I'd kill for the chance to make a Transformers Movie. And it'd be a metric crapton better than Bayformers...

you should go watch Spoony's review with his brother... they count something like 20 worthless characters largely used for the laughs...

Interesting concept. I'd be salivating over this movie if the first two hadn't killed any interest I had in seeing Michael Bay's Transformers.

Yeah...

I don't think that's a viable excuse. It's like all those other major blockbusters that got their scripts messed up by the writer's strike that year, right?

Right?

Wait, what others? Oh. Darn.

So what's his excuse for his other movies with bad dialog? I actually liked the trailer until I started to use my brain. Funny how that works with Bay's movies.

That's how most movies work. If you apply too much logic to any of them you blow massive gapping holes in them and it all falls apart.

I mean if the Decepticons really wanted humans dead they'd just toss stuff at us from space or use some sort of WMD and never lose a single soldier to us. They'd have all time in world pick thru our planet for whatever they wanted, But that probably wouldn't be a very fun movie to watch.

What we did get on the other hand was fun to watch, and I'll be sure see the third. I imagine the people who didn't like the series have figured out where they stand by now. If you didn't like the first 2 films, then by all means sit this one out. (or atleast see it on DVD for cheap if you feel the need to complain about it.Why support something you dislike?) I will be in line with the rest of the Decepticons waiting for stuff to get blown sky high.

It's all a conspiracy people for more Baysplosions!

I'm okay with that. You can criticize Bay for a lot of things, but he does excellent baysplosions. Quality pyrotechnics there. It's the parts of his movies where stuff doesn't blow up that could use a bit more. But the explosions? Perfect.

I feel bad about Michael Bay.

I'm a big advocate for over-the-top crazy types of action movies, and I feel like I would love Bay if he were given the right movie to make (and if someone kept a tight reign on him).

But for me, Transformers ain't it. Maybe he'll actually have learned a bit from the criticisms of the second movie and adjust accordingly, but I'm not expecting too much. His track record in that department isn't stellar.

I wouldn't feel bad for him.

Yeah, he has to put up with a few critics on what, the net, the vocal minority? And a few critics? Pffft.

What he should really be doing is judging himself by the ticket sales, and for the life of me, I can't think of a movie of his, that he directed that totally bombed.

Transformers...MONEY!
Pearl Harbor...450m world wide
The Rock...335m world wide

Now...maybe "The Island" was considered a bomb, but it even made a profit 173m on a budget of 126m. I'm sure that's considered a bomb, but figure that's more money than a lot of movies that come out.

I'd say the general populous enjoys his movies. The internet just has a way of making it seem like everyone hates something.

It's kinda like going to the comic con and thinking the rave reviews from that will equal success, then watching the movie bomb.

I dont get it. So now we discovered the transformers back in 69 on the moon landings, and those from then just decided to chill out with popcorn on the moon and watch during all the action of the first two movies?
