Tips on how to make an Arachnos defect theme make sense?

Ok, so I made a Soldier of Arachnos who I wrote to be as loyal and serving as can be (Except for the Desslock missions but I tend to not include those in his story). The only problem is, I plan to make him go hero and join up with a group bent on saving all dimensions (as randomly placed as that is. Its also not Vanguard by the way ). The only problem is, I want to include a reason why he would just get up and say "screw you guys, I'm going to go help out with saving some dimensions". Anyone have any tips on how to make it make sense?

Have him get sent on a mission by lod Recluse to another Reality, where he gets begged to save people by one of the civvies there but can't and then due to his guilt switches sides?

Alternativly have him be sent up to die for whatever reason, it happens after all, and then he decides he doesn't want to work for someone who's just going to throw his life away and so quits.

I like the idea of the first suggestion alot.

However the second one doesn't really explain why someone would have the craving to help the multiverse.

Hey I'm not doing all the work for you here, who knows what kind of epic defection you'll pull off, or where you'll be sent to die? maybe even Preatoria or the Shadowshard, resulting in an adventure in itself to get back to Primal Earth, leaving him an expert on other realities so he gets asigned to a hero group who works with them or somthing?

For me this was simple .. Operative Tessa, my 50 level Crab Spider, has a bio that states she is part of a special Ops section that work undercover and pretty much do whatever they please. Also I include the fact that in reality she is only working FOR Lord Recluse to gain vital information useful to the Super Villain Group she helps to run. Then using Alan's missions coupled with completing the Destine One arc from my patron after level 45... I have gone to Recluse and shown him the mask I took from his body after defeating him in the future. I have been promoted to a position where I can pretty much do whatever A darn well like as long as i promise NOT to fulfill my destiny and KILL Recluse in the future and take control of all from him. Since the entire SG is nothing but Rogues that work for whoever they please, good or bad, and so is Tessa running off to do a few good deeds is fine with Recluse so long as I don't hand him his head. LOL Tessa has been a Rogue, a Hero, A Vigilante, a Villain (again) and finally back to Rogue as she has moved along collecting badges and earning merits from almost every TF/SF imaginable. I used to try and list all the EB/AVs she'd defeated and at some point simply gave up and added a line.. "Oh let's just face facts. She doesn't get along with anyone!"

"It's good to be able to pummel the King!" ... with apologozes for the BAD paraphrasing to Mel Brooks {History of the World, Part 1]. :-D

So basically you are suggesting to make him secretly be undercover for the hero SG this whole time? WHAT A TWIST!

Another possibility is to make it so that he joined Arachnos in pursuit of some goal, but now realizes that in order to achieve that goal, he's got to get around the obstacles Arachnos is putting in his way. Becoming a Destined One can also be a part of that. He still feels loyal to Arachnos, but Arachnos is not being loyal to HIM.

His goal could itself be tied to the "saving dimensions" thing. Maybe he, I dunno, had a brother or sister that was lost in another dimension and joined Arachnos because he heard they had portal technology that might bring them back.

Well, they do establish in the late game that there's a small but organized rebellion within the ranks of Arachnos, particularly among the Fortunatas and Bane Spiders trying to break away from the brainwashing and mental torture/experiments and whatnot...

It could always be sort of similar to how I explain Loyalist Praetorians going Heroside: you can still be loyal, even if you think the current leadership sucks. In other words, maybe your character really does think Arachnos is a good thing overall, but Lord Recluse and the rest of his cronies need to go.
