So I have a fresh install of win7 64 bit build 7100. I have two 260 GTX's in sli on an asus p6t with a corsair HX850 PSU.
I can run TF2, COD, L4D no problems in sli. COH, not so much. It starts but takes a really long time to get to the log in screen. I can long in, select a server, select a toon and the loading screen launches, the load bar however, crawls an after a few minutes of waiting..it kicks me back to the log in screen. I have tried to reinstall, I have tried a fresh install, I have tried to move it from a known good installation of COH on another Win 7 box. I have rolled back the Nvidia drivers to 185.81 and still no luck.
Am I missing something? Is there something I need to do to turn on sli or make it work with coh?
[/ QUOTE ]SLI isnt supported for CoH. -

I wanted to post this here. One of my friends that I play World of Warcraft here I recently got back into the game. Due to his job, new baby, and wife he only plays at very oddball hours. Thus, he has a hard time finding a group.
His main is an Ice/Ice Dominator that is currently 11. Since the dominator changes he says he has a REALLY hard time leveling or soloing. His exact words were "I run out of endurance every fight and can barely complete a mission." -- I made sure to ask if he was on the lowest difficulty setting and he was.
Now granted the guy isn't using any IO's or anything yet and I haven't exactly seen his slotting. I do know his power choices and his only "mistake" was taking the AOE immobilize in Ice. I asked if he was using it in solo play and he said he did at first but quickly realized it was too endurance draining and didn't use it.
Ultimately, he was feeling very frustrated at low levels as a Dominator and said he wasn't having very much fun. I would definitely describe him as a "new" player even though he played the game around Issues 7-9.
Just wanted to post feedback.
[/ QUOTE ]This I doubt because Ice was the one secondary they didnt change the endurance cost on the single target stuff. Ice has always had issues with endurance but thats due to animation times. If they were playing other secondaries then I could see the complaints on endurance being valid post change. But overall you end up killing more stuff prior to having to rest compared to what it was before the changes. -
I do think there needs to be a better in game explaination on how it works. I have met a dom in the past that got to the 40s before she ever used domination. Because when she first so the power in her tray it was greyed out so she couldnt use it, she deleted it. I had to tell her how to get it back in her tray and explained what the power does. At first I wondered how can anyone not know about the power, but then I had to step back and look at the bigger picture. Chances are all these new players popping up probably saw some dom kicking [censored] in an AE mission and decided to roll one. Because these players dont come to the forums and read every single dev posting or been participating in betas they are not going to know the ins and the outs of the game. I think the issue here is majority of the forum players forget this and make it seem like its the noobs fault. Everyone has to remember we were all noobs at one point. Someone had to tell you too, or put you in a position to learn about something in game whether it was domination, mez protection, how enhancements work, how to craft, etc... We all must not forget this ever because the minute we do, we could turn someone off to this game because they will think the community here is bad and that folks dont want to help noobs. Some of you may see changing things as dumbing it down, I see it as making things more accessable so more people will play the game overall. More active accounts means more revenue which means more added features to the game at a later time.
Case in point I used to hate support ATs with a passion because they are slow to level and die easily if not played well. By focusing more time on those ATs it actually helped me learn to play the melee toons better by knowing the limits that my allies have and how working together by understanding how powers interact it made teaming more effective to me. A good example of this would be if a brute player would always spam their patron aoe immobilize over an ice slick. If they had played a dom then they could understand why they shouldnt do this. So in short please be kind to noobs because someone was kind to you at some point in your CoX career. -

So unless Castle comes in here and says it doesnt stack, we should assume it does from other casters.
[/ QUOTE ]Except that assumption flies in the face of City of Data, which is using the in-game data. Essentially, you are either assuming that Red Tomax is getting incorrect information, or that the game mechanics do not function as has been demonstrated in the past.
[/ QUOTE ]Yes city of data has been wrong. It sure as hell isnt updated now is it. Furthermore there are a few instances were it doesnt even show numbers for data. Like look at the passives for stalker SR. It doesnt show how much the scaling resistance is provided. It just says unknown attribute. Even the real numbers in game doesnt show it for stalkers but it does for brutes and scrappers. So before you come in here saying CoD showed be quoted as the gospel get your facts straight. Dont get me wrong CoD was a good tool to use prior to the real number interface but now its not as useful. -
Because that set has suck [censored] accuracy I always go with the kismet unique as well as a few accuracy set bonuses to at least get it to 2 SO's worth of accuracy.

We're telling you, it doesn't matter how many casters it has.
People have tested this. A lot, actually.
What's kind of funny is that I was in this forum arguing your position, because I was convinced I had seen it stack twice.
Then someone pointed me to the RedTomax info on it, and I couldn't figure out how to reconcile that with what I saw. When I tried retesting it, I could not reproduce it. And that jived with what other testers were telling me.
Now I'm convinced the RedTomax info is correct.
Multiple casters can grant a temporary set bonus power to a target. However, the "rule of 5" setting on the power is set to 1, not 5, so the target can only benefit from one copy. That one copy has the recipient cast the -DR debuff on himself, and that debuff is flagged "do not stack from same caster."
The only way this can result in stacking is if the above rules fail to apply. In other words, if you're seeing stacking, it's a bug. It's also relatively recent.
Edit: Do not measure the proc's function by seeing icon stacking. Icons are notoriously misinformative. See: Winter's Blessing global.
[/ QUOTE ]Maybe something changed since they last tested because I have seen it stack multiple times from different casters. They are always tweaking/breaking IOs its possible it might have been bugged back when the other people tested. So unless Castle comes in here and says it doesnt stack, we should assume it does from other casters. -
I could see using the dreck map for this. Are there any other huge maps that you all can think of that are indoors and outdoors?
-
Yeah its Roman cooties, its just a variation of Vahz cooties you get in the level 15-20 range only it doesnt have the flies. I here there is an arc that gives Crey cooties too.

While I am not going to get into the whole morale issue of farming, I do want to address a few issues and present a possible solution. I would say the biggest complaint is that by using the ae for farming purposes it doesnt expose noobs to the rest of the game. They end up not knowing about their powers and how they interact with the critters. For the most part noobs will mostly learn from interacting with other players and those players teaching the noobs. Well what if someone created a "Farm" specifically for this purpose? While it wont be the best xp in the world or the best tickets it serves as a "Farm" but educates the noobs at the sametime?
I started toying with this idea before Positron layed down the ban hammer on farming missions. I had created a mission to train stalkers. I got lots of feedback, mostly that it was too hard for a solo stalker. I realized because I already knew the ins and outs of the game it would be too hard or too steep of a learning curve for a noob. So I removed the mission after Positrons post on the AE punishment for farming. In a another thread someone came up with the idea of a villain sewer team created from a mission. While it seemed nice it was hard to set this up with the limitations on the AE had in issue 14. So post issue 15 I created something similar to a sewer team. It works out ok and is a bit of a challenge for a lowbie team.
Now for my idea for training noobs with a farm. I created a custom group that contains all possible factions in the game. Minions, Lts, Bosses all in one big group. My idea is to pick some of the hugest maps in the game and pack it full of critters. Have a few hostages to rescue along the way, a few glowies to click, a few objects to destroy, a few ambushes and a few named bosses to defeat as well. The problem I have with setting this up is I dont know all the limitations on the AE system which is why I am coming here for help.
In a sense I was needing to know what are the biggest maps to choose from in the game. What the best level minimums to set so that I can get the maximum exposure to all critters in the game over the course of a 5 part arc with each missiong being a different level minimum? Who are all the elite bosses in CoH/CoV without PToD? Of the AVs in CoH/CoV which are the weakest to fight for a team for training purposes? Any suggestions on support allies to place in the mission as a hostage that would be good to help a team?
My goal in all of this is to create a 5 mission arc with huge maps, with enough variety so that you really cant say its a "Farm", give good exposure to all the factions in the game, give decent but not uber xp/tickets. I will try to add a story element to this as well. Hopefully this will bridge the gap between farmers and anti-farmers by being the best of both worlds. -
I say get a refund. You should not have to pay all that money for card that you still end up not being able to use all the features in CoX. If you play other games besides this then it might be worth it to you but I would stick with Nvidia until CoX officially really supports ATI stuff instead of this half [censored] support we have now.
-
2 reasons, one is because they are from the same power as controllers it would increase their damage as well. It uses the same power only different modifers. They would have to create a seperate power for all the dom versions if they did that. Secondly I dont see the point. Aside from levitate, propel and lift there arent any real attacks in the primaries. So changing the damage would be a waste cosidering how good the secondaries are at doing that.
-
Confuse is different now? Thats news to me. What is exactly different about it?
-
Wont be doing the new tf till they up the merit values. Its just not worth 20 merits for all that work when I can take the same amount of time on an AE arc and get a recipe.
-
Definately doable without, fighting and leadership. Thats generally how I build mine. I just cant afford the end drain those powers have so I use the travel sets instead.
-
If we get illusion then I think doms will do fine. Now that we can solo extremely well vs trollers I think we are at a point where we can be considered equals. Prior to this change I would have seen GR as the extinction of dominators.
-
How bout a claws/sr brute with capped hps and soft cap defense?
-
First off welcome back, secondly no sane person uses SOs anymore the new thing is inventions IOs. But if you must use SOs there is a tech store in Talos Island as well as all the other origins it should be labeled on the map. Dont ever buy SOs from a contact as they charge more than the stores unless a zone store contact like in the Rikti war zone the Roman Zone.
-
Dont know where you getting that 40ish% number from but its way lower than that. I say the edge goes to windows because they kill faster and have more tools to take out a whole group. The mace animation times really hurt banes. Back when placate was like 20 second recharge they were on par with widows. Man I miss that.
-
My main concern on this has been how devs have screwed villains on this. Villains have no way to go back to get mayhem badges for the accolade. Thats part of the reason I have the hardest time leveling my villains. I have to stop getting xp to make sure I dont miss the badge every few levels. If this was changed things would be different for me. We need mayhems added to flashback.
-
I still get elude for the travel sets to reach the soft cap, as well as for the endurance recovery. Famine Rider and Hami were the main reasons I respeced back into it. No endurance, no toggles, no softcap = dead.

This pretty much. Gamestop employees are judged not by their usefulness, but how many pre-orders, magazine subscriptions, and used titles they can sell. The first because if is effectively a scam, as many stores will not actually hold your copy, keep your pre-order bonuses to themselves unless you hound them (most people will not), and generally operate on the assumption that you will totally forget about your pre-order and give them $5 for effectively nothing.
[/ QUOTE ] So do you have any actual facts or information to back up this claim, or is it just some weird conspiracy theory? I would really like to know, because what you say makes no sense.
[/ QUOTE ]
My hubby has ran a Gamestop for roughly four years now, and he's never hoped that customers forget about reservations. And yes, they hold the copy up to weeks after the game is released. It is only after the automated number calls to remind them (and I personally have had that number call me more than telemarketers), the store calls repeatedly, and the customer still fails to come get the game, that they may sell it if they're sold out (and even then I'm not sure they sell it).
And, even if said reserve isn't there for whatever reason when the customer comes to pick it up, their five or however many dollars aren't gone. It's under their name that they have money up to put towards a purchase or whatever.
It sucks if some of the stores are actually doing that to their customers, but, if so, maybe that manager should be reprimanded for training his employees like that.
[/ QUOTE ]Its rare to see an honest store. Most of the time we were told to only hold the game for 3 days after that we can sell it. As for the reserve thing yeah the money is still there but what we were told to do is trick them into reserving something else whenever they come back to claim the cash. So in a sense they try to not let them get the money back unless they are buying a game. -

Gamestop employees have managed to get a very poor reputation on the internet from many, many personal accounts for various reasons.
[/ QUOTE ]No seriously the first guy quoted hit it dead on. Each store gets ranked on how well they get reserves, subscriptions, and how much used stuff they sell and take in. The store I managed was one of the top stores in that district. Depending on how well it goes, the district or area manager will get bonuses based on that, while the employees get zippo and just allowed to keep their jobs. We were told to lie and say we only order enough for the pre-orders just to get folks to reserve in hopes that they will forget about it later, but in reality we order like 5 to 10 times as many as the pre-orders. -

Oh...and at the one store when I was buying it, the cashier remarked "hey, you know Champions Online is coming out soon, right?" As if I was loco for wanting to buy CoH.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just to go on the cashier's side for a second, the employees of those stores for the most part rely on preorders and the like for their hours. Chances are, he was just suggesting a game that you could potentially give him a reserve for that is in the same genre as COH.

The second and third are because it costs Gamestop basically nothing for them to obtain those products, especially the used games, since the cash you'd get from them is nothing and the store credit is, at best, a discount on something you'll buy at their store.
Don't blame the guy behind the counter. Blame the CEO in the office.
[/ QUOTE ]QFT. I dont think this can be said enough. I used to work for this horrible company so I know this all too well. This is also why I hardly shop there unless I have no choice. -
All critters have this issue. Long standing bug. Speed boost probably wont do much to help.

If you were to build a SR scrapper around the scaling resistance how would you do it with IOs and accolades? Would this be better done as a brute instead? Basically I want to know how low can your hp go where its really hard for a group of minions to kill you near the soft cap? How much of an impact will tough make before hitting the resists cap with scaling resistance? Would slotting health for regeneration be a bad thing as it would make your resistance go down?
