Greetings all!

I've been on an extended break for the game (3+ years). I have culled the forums already, but cannot find where I need to go to find lvl 25 technology SO's.

If I recall, it's not a typical store but a person. I've been through various different zones and cannot for the life of me find the appropriate vendor.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

25 is from stores in Talos and Independence Port.

It is the Bricks and Founders and Peregrine Island stores you need to unlock in the 30+ game.

The ones in IP and Talos should appear on your map.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

Heroside: Tech stores in Talos Island and Independence Port.

The SO's are halfway down the list between the two types of DO's.

First off welcome back, secondly no sane person uses SOs anymore the new thing is inventions IOs. But if you must use SOs there is a tech store in Talos Island as well as all the other origins it should be labeled on the map. Dont ever buy SOs from a contact as they charge more than the stores unless a zone store contact like in the Rikti war zone the Roman Zone.

Bump and Grind Bane/SoA
Kenja No Ishi Earth/Empathy Controller
Legendary Sannin Ninja/Pain Mastermind
Entoxicated Ninja/PSN Mastermind
Ninja Ryukenden Kat/WP Scrapper
Hellish Thoughts Fire/PSI Dominator

Thank You Devs for Merits!!!!

Also a note: Now you can also buy SOs off the market, at either Wentworth's (heroside) or the Black Market (villainside).

While you may or may not be able to buy the SO immediately, you can put a bid in, and often get it quickly and more cheaply than from the store.

Oh, and welcome back!

No "sane" person uses SOs?

I do, good sir, disagree!

IO'ing at level 25 takes more time, and more inf than fully outfitting in SOs. For some, time and/or inf are rarer commmodities.

Also, as I open up slots on my 45+ characters, I sometimes put SOs in there, as I don't have the time or inclination to shop for or build IOs.

Also, if you start using the new(ish) Architect Entertainment buildings for missions they award Tickets instead of dropping enhancements, recipes, or salvage. If you go upstairs in the AE building you can cash in tickets for SOs. I just did this on a lowbie for some DOs and noticed with pleasure that the store offered me +3 DOs--I wasn't stuck with the normal choices of 10/15/20. I presume it works that way with SOs too, and if so it's actually a better way to go.

But once you're able to slot level 30 enhancements (i.e. you're level 27 or higher) you should really look into getting generic IOs. They always stay the same strength and never turn red.

Freedom: Blazing Larb, Fiery Fulcrum, Sardan Reborn, Arctic-Frenzy, Wasabi Sam, Mr Smashtastic.

To our returning hero: Check out the invention tutorial, available to anyone at level 10+ at the university in either Steel Canyon or Cap au Diable. It explains how IOs work both generic and sets.

However, since a 40 IO is always better than +3 SO, never needs upgrading, and 45 and 50 are even more so, I tend not to spend much money on SOs after level 37, except as "placeholders" as I mentioned above.

I'm thinking that a returning player at level 25 may not have stacks of inf to do an IO outfit.

Agreed. For the most part if the slot is one that I am planning on eventually filling with a set IO, I will slot SO there until I get the set piece. I'd rather just pay for the SO - even if I have to replace it - while saving the crafting cost and making money by vendoring the IO recipe and marketing the required salvage.

Suggestions:
Super Packs Done Right
Influence Sink: IO Level Mod/Recrafting
Random Merit Rolls: Scale cost by Toon Level

You'll also want to read up on Enhancement Diversification's system of diminishing returns. That will seem like a Nerf, but really Set Inventions have completely outstripped the performance of pre-ED builds.

Also, if you are 35+ the Co-Op zones (Midnighters Club and Cimmeroa [both need unlocking], and the Rikti War (formerly Crash) Zone) have Elite QMs/Stores - these stores not only sell all flavors of SOs but also buy back at the best price.

Wow! What an awesome response!

It's good to see the community is still so helpful (and quick).

Inventions...still trying to wrap my head around that concept. My defunct SG has a load of salvage in the base that I can monkey around with, but I still haven't taken the plunge in actually learning how to use it yet.

I'm playing a lot of catch up.

Download Mids Hero Designer. It's the current-standard fan made build utility and supports Invention Sets. It will let you see what Invention Sets will fit in a given power and give you totals for the cumulative bonuses on the character.

You can also do a basic Inventions Tutorial at the University in Steel Canyon or Cap au Diable from lv10+.

Furthermore, open your Powers tab in-game and click Combat Attributes at the top of the new window. Tah-dah! Real Numbers for your character; they were introduced to the game literally two weeks after the NCSoft buyout when Jack Emmert could no longer tell them "no". To see the numbers for a specific power, right-click on it or type its name in [brackets] in chat and click on the hyperlink.

Finally, that Salvage in your base is likely BASE Salvage rather than INVENTION Salvage. Since it was redundant and confusing, Base Salvage was removed from the drop tables of the game and declared obsolete. All the old Base building applications Base Salvage was put to are now filled by Invention Salvage.

However, since Base Salvage is now unobtainable, it has become a Collector's Item. You can get anything from a few thousand to tens of millions for pieces of Base Salvage at the auction house (depending on what a collector needs and how close they are to completing their set).

If you have any Base Salvage Villain Side, on any character on any server, I implore you to look through it for a Broken Mask, Meat Cleaver, or Pumpkin Bomb. I know for a fact that those three pieces have solid bids up for them on the Villain side Market.

You can use old base salvage for collector's items, or you can use it to make Brainstorm thingies at an invention table. I think that makes collectors cry though.

Actually it's the Brainstorm-crafters that cry when they see that a single piece of Base Salvage that they just destroyed sold for 100+ million to someone else.

Also, when in doubt, ask in the Help channel {send command /hc, doesn't work as active channel because someone hasn't bothered to update the UI}.
