  1. The combat log says Taunt is auto-hit but I suspect it's lying to me. I've heard the Taunt portion makes a ToHit roll, but the -Range portion (the part I'm interested in) is auto-hit. In finalizing my approach to Taunt, I need to know if this is accurate or not.
  2. I think people will roll something other than Regen when something other than Regen actually works well enough in PvP.

Personally, I do Super Reflexes in PvP quite a bit. No, you should not try that at home, kids, you'll shoot your eye out. But playing SR in PvP tells you why people play Regen instead.

Sad thing is, at 30% Elusivity SR wasn't bad at all. Not especially hard to kill, but actually playable. Dern Forts gettin' SR nefed along with them. Se la PvP!
  3. Oh, OK. I was scared there for a minute thinking I made a big expensive mistake. I'd never pay more to have a lower level one, but maybe that's just me.
  4. OK wait a minute. I was under the impression that PvPIOs exemp down like Purples? For example, you slot level 50 PvPIOs, go to Siren's Call, and those PvPIOs will still impart their set bonuses, and the procs will still proc?

    Am I mistaken?
  5. If Galaxy were a full-featured starting zone I'd probably start there more often. As it is, there's no reason to start there other than not wanting to see anyone else around. Given the nature of the game I don't know why anyone would want that, but to each his own.
  6. Ninjitsu in PvP I'd skip the toys (keep the heal of course) and take Tough and Weave.
  7. Ice/Psi will give you a more complete Dominator experience. Mind/ is a fine set, but it plays so differently from everything else, you really shouldn't use it on a first Dom IMHO.

And hey, /Psi doesn't suck for 37 levels anymore, so bonus!
  8. What they should have done with DT is do that thing where your character is covered with enemies and then just throws them all off by extending the arms up and out, sending them all flying. You know, like they do in over-the-top fighting movies.
  9. The first time I saw the price of purples redside I cried.

When I put a buy-it-NAO bid in and it took two weeks to fill, I cried again.

Combine markets. Combine markets for great justice.
  10. Another advantage of SOs is real-world time. SOs are readily available for slotting right when you need them.

With IOs you either have to invest the time to craft them (and at times salvage can be very expensive) and invest the time to wait for a badger to fill your order (I may not understand badgers, but I LOVE 'em!).

Also, SOs have better enhancement values until level 33 or so (this is somewhat offset by the fact IOs never expire, which can be very nice).

Personally, I go with TOs, DOs and SOs until I can slot level 35 Generics, then I buy crafted ones from the market (crafting them yourself can mean looking at expenses of 4-5 million or even more, depending on the prevailing winds of the salvage market).

From there I plan out a set bonus build to respec to at 50.

And BTW level 50 set IOs are far easier to get ahold of than ones in the 25-35 level range, so I end up using the much rarer low-level stuff only on my PvP builds.
  11. You're going to want Elude for the following reasons:

You say you want to PvP. Elude is required in PvP for SR, especially at RV level where everyone has plenty of ToHit and Accuracy. Elude's +Movement, and at times +Recovery are invaluable in a PvP environment as well.

AE costoms. Custom Bosses/EBs/AVs do not obey the soft cap at all. They hit right past it. Elude helps tremendously.

Bane Spider Executioners/Knives of Artemis Bosses. Either of these guys can 1 shot you with their AOE. Elude provides you with your best shot at avoiding this.

SR is my favorite melee armor. I've logged hundreds of hours in PvE and PvP with it and I know it well. It's a terrific set, but does have some weaknesses, and the softcap isn't the only IO path you can take with it, nor is it IMO the optimal one.
  12. At level 27 +0x3 difficulty will yield the best ratio of survival and rewards IMO.

I've rolled up more Electric Armor alts since the buff to see if it's playable or not. My jury's still out. I hated ElA before. It was a laughable set. It tried to be a Resist version of Super Reflexes, but due to the nature of Defense acting as a sort of ghetto +Regen mitigation, it didn't work out so well for ElA, as with Resists you will take at least part of the damage every time, so can be nibbled to death by ducks.

Best case scenario is ElA on a Tanker. They get their heal at level 12. See? Tankers aren't all bad.
  13. Spending dev time so people can sell at NPC store price would be a waste since we can already do that.
  14. If you're focusing on earning power I wouldn't stealth missions. Defeats add inf and drops that are too valuable to pass up.

One thing I always notice when I team is I earn nowhere near as much as when I solo, though the XP is much quicker on teams (generally).

That leaves AoE to worry about. If Foot Stomp is overpowered for brutes and tanks, then it would be for scrappers. If it isn't already OP, then it wouldn't be if proliferated.

I dismiss completely the arguments that scrappers shouldn't get SS (or SM for that matter) "just cuz."
    I agree with the devilish-one.

SS/INV Scrapper? KoB crit? YES PLEASE!

Brutes are already doing Scrapper-level damage with the set, so let Scrappers have it.

I'd definitely give the Focused Accuracy treatment to Rage, and remove it's crash and it's ability to stack with itself (for all Archetypes) though.
  16. You can buy Architect Edition for 99 cents at Amazon via GoHastings:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...&condition=new

You get the game, a physical DVD for future installations, a month of play time and a free booster for 99 cents plus shipping!

    And welcome to the game!
  17. If you're willing to wait about a year after it releases, you can most likely pick up GR from an Amazon affiliate seller brand new for anywhere between $8 and 99 cents. I got the CoV collector's edition for $7 that way. CoH: Architect Edition can be had for 99 cents this way right now, too.
  18. Khelds are nothing if not unique and challenging. Roll 'em up and see what you think.

Personally, the things that kill the enjoyment of Khelds for me:

*The slot crunch. So many things to slot, so few slots to slot them with. It gets really eye-rolling using powers with only the base slot.

*Clunky transformations. It's slow and annoying to go from one form to another. It can get you killed even. It'd be nice if Khelds "popped" from one form to another. The dynamic game play that results from that would be amazing.

*Your costume doesn't matter. You look just like every squid or lobster out there much of the time, doing away with one of this game's biggest draws (individuality).

*Lots and lots of Council. I hope you like the Council and their maps because you'll be seeing a lot of them. A whole lot of them.

Most of these complaints are eliminated by doing what quite a few Kheld players do: go human-only. What bothers me about that is the form variation is kind of the point of the Archetype. If you don't use the forms, you're missing out on a lot of what the Archetype is capable of. But human-only gets around so many annoying issues, and presents a viable play style of its own so it ends up being very frequent.

Khelds were a great experiment. You can see what the devs were getting at with them. They largely missed the mark, though. Still, especially post-Kheld-buff, Khelds remain one of the most unique, challenging and potentially rewarding experiences the game has to offer. They aren't for everyone but everyone should try them at least once.

So at high Fury levels Rage is only buffing your overall damage by 12%? That makes skipping Rage and picking up 12% damage bonus look fairly viable. I would not have guess that.

Of course, it also gives you a constant base 20% ToHit (enhanceable to 31%) so that has to be considered as well.

I understand though that Rage is going to be modified at some point in the not-so-distant future (Soon). Something that eliminates the crash and brings Rage into line ToHit-wise (like Focused Accuracy) seeming likely.

SS/SR just might be my favorite melee setup in the entire game. And the Rage crash isn't game-ending for SR as I thought it might be at first. A good title for SS/SR would be "Why Are You Hitting Yourself? A Guide to SS/SR"
  20. Here's hoping the new interface doesn't load Every...Single...Item...In...Existence just because you opened the interface. Show me my stuff, yes, but wait until I make a query before downloading a quad of market data, please!

    Comic #25

It's awesome to see Jordan's Town alive and kicking again! I lost track of it when there weren't updates for a while and I'm glad to see new stuff. This comic is a real charmer!
  22. I'd like to nominate:

    Name: "Quid Pro Quo"
    Arc ID: 82369
    Author: @Hertz

There aren't many low level Villain MArcs, let alone ones this well done. Strong characterization and true villainy make this MArc truly entertaining.

    Necro Angst

If you're running Thermal and your henchmen are squishy, there just might be a build problem. Any chance you could post your build?
  24. LOL Thought this was a necro post at first. Guess ol' Lumi took a long break from Doms and forgot about how quick Dom builds on teams (and MMs are uber ).

Ill/Rad. Heh. Makes me want an Ill/RadAss Dom.
