    A few questions?

What is the most viable way to softcap PFF for a MM?
    Turn it on.

I don't bother with end reduction in it, since you can't do anything that affects more than yourself with it on. I use the default slot for a LotG or Karma KB protection.

    Why not?
Because they haven't gotten to it yet.

They will get it eventually. They will probably adjust damage values for scrappers a little, since they don't want it completely overshadowing BS and MA for ST damage.

You actually already play on the servers with the best population at those hours.

Freedom just has a high population in general, and Justice is the Unofficial Australian Server. There are a lot of people that play in the middle of the night there.

No,the zombie attack is a event that occurs it has nothing to do with how many baddies you and your team killed. Why the xp is low I have no idea hopefully someone can answer that for you as i am curious also.
I think it has to do with the fact that very rarely will you be the only one dealing damage to any particular zombie. Everyone is throwing AoEs around and the xp is split between everyone who hit that zombie. If 20 people all do equal damage to one zombie, that xp is split 20 different ways.

Also, zombies scale to your own level automatically, it is impossible to kill an uplevel zombie. You get even con xp whether you are level 1 or level 49.

    Travel Powers

    Quote:
I won't hold a grudge against lower lvl toons that haven't gotten their travel powers yet, but when the player who has travel powers isn't even making the effort....
Heh, I was teamed with a guy who had 3 travel powers, and refused to use any of them. He was playing a tank and told us it was our JOB to get him to the mission. He was a crappy tank, but thought he was the greatest thing to ever grace the game.

Next thing seen in the chat window was: "Jackholetank has been kicked from the team" He sent me a tell saying that we sucked and wouldn't get anywhere without him.

We went faster without him. He insisted that everything be herded. He herded TWO minions, and complained when I one-shotted both of them.

    On topic:

Fly is slow because it doesn't have the limitations of the other travel powers. Teleport can run you out of endurance in midair, Super Jump leaves you vulnerable to attack when you hit the ground (which is made worse by the fact that, by the time you get close enough to see the mobs it's too late to change your trajectory), Super Speed has no vertical mobility.

I like all of them except teleport, the one I choose depends a lot on the AT and powersets of the character.
  6. My long-since deleted Sonic/Ice blaster would have been Sonic/Mental. Might even still have him if he had been.

I DID change my DB/WP scrapper to MA/WP after the punches were added, he was level 40 at the time. Had I the extra cash I would have just ponied up for a name change and kept the character. I rerolled because the character is "me" and MA with the punches fits a lot better, I'd cut my own nose off if I tried some of the Dual Blades stuff.

My Sonic/Devices might have been Sonic/Energy, but then again, maybe not. I like him how he is, I just wish he had Build Up.

My Fire/Fire might have been rolled as Rad/Fire instead. Though I'm enjoying my Rad/Mental and I dislike repeating powersets. The only set I repeat is Dark Melee, I have 4 of them, but all 4 are different ATs.

    Powerset ideas

    Eh, maybe not.

It's not a horrible idea, it's just kinda vague.

Need more details. Can't say if I like it or not if I don't know what the powers in question would be.
  8. I rolled a Dark/Sonic because I wanted a solid team contributor that can solo decently as well (I HATE powersets that can't solo)

I fully expect that on PuGs, my contribution will go largely unnoticed. That's okay though, I know what I did.

I've hit 300 or so with my Sonic/Devices while Speed Boosted. (It's the only way I hit high enough levels of recharge for my chain to be completely seamless)

That's running the generally accepted chain of Shriek-Scream-Shriek-Shout.

After about 2 revolutions of my chain my Shout is breaking 600 per activation, and Sonic's attacks have a pretty consistent DPA across them. Shriek is usually hitting for about 325-350 by that point. That's with no procs anywhere in the build, could probably get it higher with procs.

The downside to it is: You have to keep attacking to keep your DPS up, since it relies so much on Defiance and resistance debuff. Once your target is dead and you switch you have to build it up again.

I haven't encountered much, if anything, that can outdamage a Sonic blaster in the long run. In the short term there is a lot that can.

An Ill/Rad Troller on Pinnacle has soloed the STF. Duos have happened a few times.

No one I know of has ever pulled off the LRSF solo.
  11. There's an Arena command in the options list now. Lets you set up a fight and invite anyone you like to it (using the same command)

So....for all intents and purposes, there IS a duel feature now.
  12. High recharge Sonic Blaster running Shriek-Scream-Shriek-Shout, with occasional blaps thrown in as opportunity presents itself.

If your chain is seamless you will be around 60% defiance bonus and 60% or so resistance debuff. Consistently. Your chain doesn't start out that great, but after the first cycle your damage gets ridiculous against a single hard target.

Don't lead with Shout under any circumstances, build up some defiance and -res before you use it or it's activation time kills your DPS. 500+ damage from Shout (which I can consistently get) makes the glacially slow animation worth it.
  13. Erm...so you rely on eating blues?

Unwise in my opinion. You will find situations in which you will have a drought of inspirations, and not having Stamina will suck then.

If you were Regen or Willpower I'd agree that Stamina is very skippable.

SR, Invuln, Shield, and Fire all need it, and you're insane if you skip it on a DA. Electric I don't have any experience with, but it seems like you could skip it without too much difficulty.
  14. I dropped hasten on my BS/DA for 2 reasons

    1) All it did was speed up the rate at which I burned endurance.

    2) The only power it really benefitted was Dark Regeneration, and if I need that power more than every 34 seconds, my build has bigger problems than recharge.

Besides, I kinda like the pauses in my attacks. It gives them time to be afraid.
  15. Go with Dominate.

I did with my Rad/Sonic and never looked back.

    A small idea.

Well, defender nukes aren't supposed to be openers anyway, they're supposed to be finishers. When the spawn is half dead, that's when you wade in and nuke.

That way, most o all of the spawn is dead and your lack of endurance to defend the team isn't as important because there's nothing left to defend the team from.

Not really, I moderate myself so I don't get banned. I could be a real ***hole if I were so inclined.
  18. Woot!

    I've been sigged!

That's a first, usually I'm too much of a jerk for anyone to want to quote me.
  19. You can get some damage output out of your attacks by looking into Hami-O Accuracy/Damage enhancements. 2 of them will net you some decent damage numbers while leaving you 4 slots for debuff enhancement.

If you find yourself in a situation where you have a LT beating on you in melee range and no one is free to help you out, you're going to want the ability to do more than tickle him.

Team defending is great, but if you get killed because you couldn't kill a LT by yourself it doesn't do you much good.

Lol, I was playing my Fire/TA troller a while back and a blaster on a PuG was complaining that I wasn't healing him.

Me: "Sorry, I didn't take the Heal Arrow"
Idiot blaster: "Why would you skip your heal?!"

I got a good laugh out of that one.
  21. Has anyone else noted the extreme irony of the title of this thread?

"The Unrealized Power of the Defender"

....and the OP was talking about Defenders ignoring their secondary being a good thing.

    Hilarious.

It is. I still use Conserver power now and then, but I'm not hurting without it anymore.
  24. My plan is to heavily use Kinetic Combat, Aegis, and Eradication on my MA/WP

I'm 5 slotting Kinetic Combat and adding the Mako's 3-piece to round out the attack (I just like the idea of them falling down when I punch them)

Aegis in both Mind over Body AND HPT (the other 3 slots in HPT will be Numina's for the regen/HP bonuses) Probably in Tough as well.

Eradication in Dragon's Tail, possibly 3 Eradication and 3 Multistrike

Don't forget Weave adds it's full defense value to everything equally, both positional and typed.
  25. Not getting held is worth losing a few points of damage.
