Quote:I would love that. I've seen similar stuff in other games that works well. Add-ons in WoW and Xunlai Storage in Guild Wars (not quite the same, but similar net effect). I am poor and hopping between characters looking for a piece of salvage takes a lot longer than I like.I really wish I could view the vaults of any of my toons without having to log in and out of them. It's a real pain having do log in and out just to see if they have a piece of salvage that I need. Perhaps adding a dropdown list of server-character names might be a possible way to implement this.

I would love a reason to be in King's Row more often. I know Tips frequently default to the zone you're in (or seem to), but this would be even better.

Quote:It probably depends on how you like to play. I tried /Earth Assault and I was in love with it from the first time I clicked Stone Spears. I have yet to fall out of love with it.Hmm... I think im gonna go with Earth, Earlier on yesterday I teamed with a Icer Dom and his damage wasn't to great like you said what would you pair with Earth other than /Earth, Psi?
edit: I should add what I love about it: SMASH! =) I like hitting things really REALLY hard. Earth Assault lets me hit things unbelievably hard. It's great fun. -
Quote:I think he means that he used a character slot unlock on the Controller only to find out he can't use the Controller. You may want to read up on how Paragon Rewards tokens work -- I think you are confused. At your level, you can't "waste" them (since Tiers must be completely filled with tokens before being able to select any rewards from the next higher tier), and they are account-related, not toon specific.

Quote:You could re-color Fluffy and think of him as an Id monster if Dark looks fun or appropriate in most other ways.I would also like to avoid dark since it has a pet (unless Fluffy is actually good with MC). But even then, I'm really not comfortable with a pet since MC shouldn't really need a pet (at least conceptually, anyway).
My only 2 50s are a Dominator and a Controller. I'm not sure why, to be honest. Okay that's not true. My Dominator is a beast solo and on teams. She can smash anything that gets in her way, but her controls are iffy out of Domination. Think of a Dominator more as a dps character with some strong controls built in as a bonus for survival and not as a damage-dealing Controller. It helped me, anyway. I have been playing with a Mind/Psi Dominator lately and she's an absolute ball, and again: more Blastery-feeling than Controllery-feeling. This isn't to say that Dominators can't do control well, because they can. It just feels less central to the concept. Or maybe it's just me.
My Controller is slow, sure and in control when she's solo. On teams, she's not unlike a Defender, making everyone else stronger and safer. Other people seem capable of building Controllers that do crazy damage. Different sets, I think, because I don't do a lot of damage at all so if my controls get resisted, miss, or are otherwise expired, I'm in trouble.
Take all that for what it's worth since one of each at 50 is all I have, and that means I haven't truly explored the scope of the ATs in question. -
Quote:Though there are mechanical differences, the playstyles are quite similar given the same powersets. The biggest difference is whether you want your Offensive or Support powers faster, and Scourge...which is just fun to watch, especially with a rain. Not convinced on the defender yet though. I tend to solo alot, and after my earth/fire dom I'm thinking a corr would be more refreshing than a defender considering the corr has offensive spells as a primary.
I find I play both essentially the same, but I pick between Defender and Corruptor based mostly on whether I see the character as more blasty or more buffy/debuffy. But I see Corruptors play support all the time, and some Defenders are right in the teeth of the bad guys, so... *shrug*
Personally I don't think you'll go wrong with either one. -

Quote:*cry*Sometimes I just can not stand to team with players who turn you into a block of ice or set you on fire for the whole mission, etc...
I know you don't mean that personally, though. I hope. =P
Those SFX are why I won't even throw Winterblack's ice armor on the team unless the content seems rough. I think I hate it, too. It'd be easier to not do if the buffs were less helpful. I would be sad if all my costumes were ice-people. A nice frosty aura would be a great alternative visual.
On the plus side, it makes it easy to spot my minions...er, teammates...in a crowd. -
When did it change? I seem to recall that when it first went live it worked really well. But I have come and gone a few times since then and can't remember when it changed for the worse.

The only sets I have played through all their powers enough to have an opinion are Electric Blast (which underwhelms me, but I only use it on a Defender), Storm Summoning, Earth Control, Earth Assault, Plant Control and Time Manipulation...and I like them all. It's probably why I got as far as I did.
Someone earlier mentioned QoL changes for Storm which sounds neat, but I'm not at all sure what form that would take. I'm used to the set as-is and aside from Gale being mandatory for people using it as a secondary, I'm not sure what it really needs. It's a quirky and sophisticated set, aggressive and dynamic. It's harder to get great mileage out of that set than most unless you really throw yourself into it and are willing to ruffle some feathers as you learn it. But I see that as a feature of the set: that it is hard to use, but very rewarding once you get it right.
I just want Electric Blast to sound less like a grade school science project and more like thunder. -
Quote:These are almost exactly my sentiments. I loathe playing this game solo. It bores me to tears. I'm not quite sure why because in general I love this game. Any time I spend solo is on the market, playing with costumes, crafting, playing with costumes...I team about 99% of the game. I'll solo occasionally during off times if I need a mish or two for tips or a quick SSA for a A-merit. But I get bored pretty much from the start. My alone time in-game is spent in the auctionhouse marketeering which isn't a lot of time anyway.
I like the social aspect of CoH and will always choose team over solo. I have a small group of in-game friends that have been playing together since issue 2 or 3 as well as many server friends. I love teaming. Love TFs where we bring in other people with my regular group (new friends are always awesome) and I really enjoy server events, raids and love incarnate trials. If it weren't for having friends I play with everynight I probably wouldn't log on that much.
I just like playing with people, both those I'm comfortable with and those I've never met. I like talking, listening, laughing...these are things I do in a team and not solo.
I will never forget the first time I did the Terra Volta trial for a respec in my late 20s. I have never had that much fun in an MMO before or since. It's lost its shine in the intervening years, but I still like it. Likewise, I will never forget the first time a team I was on fought Babbage, rampaging down on us out of the blue. We had no idea he was coming. All my memorable moments in this game are from times when I was teamed. All of them.
Although I don't mind playing my Dominator (E/E) solo for limited periods of time. And no, I'm not quite sure why she's an exception to my generalized dislike of soloing CoX. And sure, there are some missions I do solo and some days when I'm feeling really antisocial. But then I'll usually go read a book or watch a movie or go running.
Most MMOs I don't mind soloing at all. This one is different. -
Quote:Aaaannndd....this is why I read the forums. Dammit. I need to think about a respec. I have the whole set in Fossilize right now.Put 5 pieces in a long-recharge AoE control. Put the proc in your ST hold unless you are /Dark, /Earth, /Psi and maybe /Thorns. (Midnight Grasp, Seismic Smash, and Subdue are all top-shelf attacks that can take the Dom proc, meaning you don't have to waste animation cycles on your ST hold in a pure beatdown fight. Impale takes the set, but I can never decide if I'm *using* Impale on a Thorns dom, part of why I deleted that toon.) Oh, wait. /Energy, too, in Total Focus.
Otherwise, yeah. ST Hold for the proc, the other 5 in an AoE control.
Oh wait, I have some unslotters...! -
I am extremely happy with Earth Assault damage. It's primarily single-target and requires me to be in melee, but it makes me far more confident than I have any right to be. I *hurt* people when I hit them.
You will, too. -
Quote:Wow! Impressive. I went VIP just a few minutes ago to try and save myself some money as I was shelling out more than $15/month...but I think the crown is most definitely yours.I like this game. Take into consideration: I created my account on Sept. 29, 2011. (A couple days after the game went F2P I believe) First paragon point purchase so I could upgrade my account was October 6 for $5. So I've earned that many tokens in several month's time. (January and May were the only months I didn't buy points

Quote:This is always how I've seen it as well. I've moved more to Corruptors than Defenders after their introduction in CoV, but there is something about playing a Defender aggressively that still resonates. My original Offender (a Stormie) dates to the game's launch and when I play I am far more aggressive than the description of the AT would seem to allow...then again, Storm is an aggressive set by nature. Maybe playing a Storm Defender as my first character is what turned me into an Offender originally. Who knows. =)For me, personally, "Offendering" is now more of a mindset of being more aggressive on a defender/corruptor/controller. It's about letting go of "I'm here to keep the team upright by healing and buffing everyone" and stepping into "I'm here to keep the team upright by killing stuff and doing my thing (which may depend on the buff/debuff set) and I ain't afraid of nothing".
So yeah, to me the difference is more playstyle, but can be heavily influenced by powerset and choices made within those powersets. -
IIRC, the minimum level is in the teens but other than that yes, they scale with the character they're slotted on.

I actually found the Shining Stars arc to be extremely entertaining - start to finish - and enjoyed the characters immensely (yes, even the much-reviled Flambeaux). I thought it had a deftly-handled mix of light and dark elements.
I also find that like many comics, the game wanders between the poles of goofy and serious dependent upon the story and the discrete goals therein. How it affects us individually is likely less a matter of the telling being competent or incompetent and more a matter of our own biases and expectations casting shadows of meaning over each element. After all, some people find any humor in a serious story to be off-putting, while others may feel that the Michael Mann approach borders on the ridiculous in its pursuit of drama. It's not always the story; sometimes it's us.
edit: This isn't to say that stories can't be stupid or jarring, just that even when we perceive them to be, it might be more us than them.

Yay, they fixed it for me!
Just thought I'd put that in there since I'm sure they don't get praised enough for such things.

Well, I used that command and while it never did create a log file for me, I did scroll through the mind-numbingly long list. I saw the hair, the metallic top and skirt, and...a casual dress shirt. Which I most assuredly did NOT buy in place of the heels. No strapped heels listed (though given the sheer size of the list and squirrely clickiness it's possible I missed them, but I don't think so).
The ticket is open and I'll see what happens. If it can't be resolved, I'll be sad but it's really not that big a deal. I'll just do it right next year I suppose.
Thanks everybody!

Thanks for the replies. I bought the heels as a discrete purchase (didn't get them as a bonus or anything, assuming I understand the bug right) so I assume I *ought* to have access to them.
Hair, metallic top, metallic skirt, heels. That's all I bought. All the other parts work fine.
Well, I'll check to see what the game thinks happened and see about opening a ticket. Preemies can do that, right? I'll check again when I get a chance tonight.
Thanks again.

Quote:That's me. All I bought were the metallic top, skirt, hair and heels. No casual dress shirt. I suppose I'll double check with Snow Globe's advice when I can get back into the game. I'm both heartened and saddened to see that this has happened to someone else. There's a thread in the gameplay and bugs thread from another player with a similar issue here ( http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=286159 ); I posted there about this thread. Both of you bought the pieces piecemeal rather than the whole pack. So far I don't think AshleyHudson has submitted any ticket regarding her missing shoes, so I don't know if she'll have any more luck than you in getting them back. Not sure if she did or did not buy the club shirt at the same time.
-
Forgive me if I overlooked a thread on something like this, but I couldn't fine one.
I am missing some shoes. I paid for several of the the Pocket D costume parts (but didn't get the whole pack, just what I thought I'd use to conserve some points) but now I find that there is one part I can no longer access or even find in the costume designer...the club shoes.
As you can see, I had them and made a costume with them, but now the costume is locked and when I look for that part on any other character it isn't available. When I try to load the saved costume file to another slot, it singles out the shoes as the problem.
Is this fixable or just a lamentable loss?
