Is the CoH Community Going to Take NCSoft's "No" for an Answer?
This whole hippie thing is such a shame to me. I feel like these delusions are preventing so many people from playing the game and spending time with their characters while they still can...

To all those past and present, thanks for being part of the greatest Superhero MMO ever created. Keep up the good fight, and I hope to see some of you in game still.
Just feel so...empty about all of it right now.
Questions about the game, either side? /t @Neuronia or @Neuronium, with your queries!

You know what makes me feel heroic? Raising money for charity. Being there for my family. Getting a degree. Teaching people how to be self-sufficient.
City of Heroes had a great run, but I reached the last stage of grieving weeks ago, and said my goodbyes long before that. IMPO, it's clear that NCSoft isn't going to change their minds. But I made my peace a while ago. Not that Issue 24 wasn't tempting me back to the game, but that's almost certainly no longer in the cards.
I've paid this game my respects. Goodbye, City of Heroes. On Nov. 30th, when the lights go out, I'll try to pop in one last time so I can finish the game where I started, on the steps at Galaxy City.

I'm doing both. You can do whatever you like.

This is my answer to your question.
If you'd like to play CoH in a marathon 24-hour session and feel heroic by raising money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, this event takes place from 8 AM in your local timezone on Saturday, October 20th to 8 AM on Sunday, October 21st.
And if you do not wish to participate you could sponsor people who are playing. We JUST broke the $1000 mark in pledges, but would love to see that number reach $5000 or more by October 20th.
Coincidentally, SaveCoH has a team on the Extra Life Charity Drive and Gameathon (http://www.extra-life.org/team/CoH).

This would have had way more impact had you actually made sense in your last sentence.
id love your take your pretend world from you |
He's implying that GG is living in a fantasy world where the game is saved.
Be well, people of CoH.
It's over man, NCSoft dropped the big one.
Still a few things. Don't forget that Game Informer is looking for player stories

Hopefully we can use this to get the word out further. Like others said, this is PR fluff. We did something to NCSoft and they're not liking it, at all. This just a tactic to deflate the Save CoH movement. I say make more noise, rattle those cages, to hell with shaking the pillars of Heaven, lets bring 'em down like the walls of Jericho.

I forsee a day in the not-so-distant future where NCSoft pulls out of the west altogether, because they just can't do business properly here.
It's typical PR talk for "shut up" because they don't like the noise.
I say fight. Make MORE noise!
And let me add, if you want to give up, then GO. Stop posting negative stuff, just GO, already!
I do so love corporate press releases. They are such brilliant examples of BS in action.
Basically this whole politely worded statement amounts to 'shut up and go away.' Well, basically we will..
...but not without making a whole lot of noise first.
Even if we cannot save our game, we can still make the industry take notice and turn this into an example of how not to end a game. We can make this such an embarassment to NCSoft that they become the company that the others laugh at in the halls.

Extra Life is an organization that has gamers pledge to play video games for 24 hours straight. In doing so each gamer gets supporters to pledge money to them. All the proceeds benefit the Children's Miracle Network.
Currently there is a City of Heroes team of 27 players. We started our team a week ago and have raised $1,131,98 so far. I would love to see us raise $5000 by the date of the campaign (10/20/2012).
I have signed up with a global friend of mine and we plan on doing every single Hero TF in that 24 hour period (8am on 10/20 to 8am on 10/21).
Here is a link to the City Of Heroes team page:

There you can see all the participants who have signed up so far and how much they have in sponsorship.
We are always looking for more participants as well as more sponsors. It's a great cause; one that I give to every year. I am hoping that people will use the money they would have spent on their monthly subs to support 1 or 2 players.
NCSoft's latest bland press release on CoH's fate is only slightly less uninformative than their previous ones.
With no details about "all the options" NCSoft claims have been exhausted, the absence of supporting statements from, say, TonyV or Brian Clayton makes this look like a PR exercise. Rather than discuss serious options for the game's continuation, they claim instead that they "want to ensure its reputation and the memories we share for the game end on a high note". This sounds more like a passive-aggressive plea for the CoH community to stop generating bad press over the abrupt and arbitrary closure of our game. (And given that we're only a week away from Comicon, where the Save CoH crew is planning more action, the timing seems somewhat suspect.)
So, the big question before us is whether we will take their implied advice to shut up and sit down or instead take this opportunity to remind them...
