Is anyone getting the monthly stipend?

Well damn. I was hoping to use my monthly Paragon Points to buy Water Blast and give that a spin during the next couple months.

I don't see why they have to withhold our points. It seems like they could very easily continue to give us the opportunity to play the game as we used to, as it was all electronically mediated ... unless they're doing some weird torture thing, where they're going to turn off the game system by system ... losing email one week, and then chat channels, then bases, then WW/BM, then merit vendors, ... and then roll up the game, zone by zone ...

We got points from being billed. If they're not billing us, they're not giving us points. Just saying, this situation is lose/lose enough as it is. We're lucky we still -have- the game at this point, and are fighting for our heroic lives to keep it.

My yearly sub is set to rebill on Mar 15, 2013. We'll see if I get my 400 PPs on the 16th...

Well getting the stipend is directly linked to paying for a subscription. Since they aren't accepting subscription fees they have no obligation to continue giving out the stipend.

It sucks but it's that simple.

It would be nice if they did that for you guys, but if they don't I suspect it's because of whatever credit/refund settlement they eventually decide to offer (if any).

I already paid my subscription through and well past Nov 30, because I did the 12+2 holiday deal thingie. If I'm not getting the things I paid for past Aug 31, I should at least expect compensation for my paid time after Aug 31. If the compensation only counts time after Nov 30, that would be pretty shady.

We'll see what form that compensation takes, but I'll also think it's pretty shady if it's just credit towards other NCSoft games, rather than an actual refund, and that would annihilate what little goodwill towards them I still have. Getting my favorite game shut down sucks, but business is business. Getting flatly ripped off in the process? That would put me straight into "never do business with NCSoft again in any way, and warn anyone I know to do the same" territory. That's not even about my personal attachment to the game, or a desire for revenge; it would just be literally stupid to give money to such a company again. And I say that as someone who has been thoroughly enjoying GW2.

It does depend on how they choose to reimburse us, assuming they do. I have paid months yet to come. If I play here for those months, I would sort of expect the points.

I'm not going to pitch a fit if I don't get them, just because I understand that how they're handling this, seemingly with zero planning, is all kinds of F'd up in general. However, I don't feel bad about pitching a fit about how F'd up it is in general, as opposed to this specifically.

Well said, on all counts.

I just have a hunch that they'll offer refunds where local laws force them to, and "store credit" where they can get away with it. And if it's true that they're pulling out of the Western market then it's likely they don't give a damn what we think about them.

For everybody's sake I hope I'm wrong.

Do any of their other games work on a Mac, or are they Windows only?

Because if they're all Windows only, an account credit is literally, actually worthless to me, because I cannot actually use it for anything.

I would argue (and will argue, should it become necessary) that NCSoft has to pay me cash in these particular circumstances, because their reimbursement is literally without value to me.

And if that fails I'll look into canceling the credit card charges. I'm not sure what effect that will have since I paid once, for a year of service (this would be the first time I've ever had to cancel a charge, actually), but we'll see.
No, CoH is NCSoft's only game that is officially supported on the Mac.

Ah, I was afraid of that.

I'd like to think NCSoft will take that into account, but I'm not optimistic. We'll see, I suppose.

Draw your own conclusions - EG is a light troll at best, but FB and THB have a history of posting pointless garbage and turning civil discussions into a reenactment of the first World War. Ignoring FB in particular is easily the best move I ever made for forum readability, he's 100% toxic and only joins topics to insult people or spew xenophobic rants, to the point quite often he's the sole source of antagonism.
Oddly I have never seen any of those as trolls.

Anyway. I really don't want to give anymore money to NCSoft. If I am given a game credit for time I have left and points unspent, I will drop it at goodwill or salvation army.

NCSoft can take all of their other games, turn them sideways, and sh.... well you get the point.

I really hope the rest of the gaming community realizes what a scummy company NCSoft it.

Good Time
How insulting...NCSOFT credits. Who will be playing another NCSOFT game after this? I want to say something else but I better not...

Worse: NCSoft credits are literally worthless to Mac users who play CoH, as CoH is NCSoft's only Mac title.

I literally could not use credits without spending hundreds of dollars on a copy of Windows, partitioning my HD, etc. Which I am not willing to do just for this.

NCSoft should not offer credits to Mac users. Of course, then it's unfair to force them on PC users. Which means NCSoft should not offer credits to anyone.

EDIT: Since posting, I've seen evidence that NCSoft is giving cash refunds on request (apparently), as per Post #66 below. This is great news, though I am still waiting for an official announcement on the rebate/credit policy...

So, I got the full stipend plus VIP bonus on my primary account today and just 400 points on my secondary. I also got a reward token on the secondary, but not the primary.

I got my 550 points. I noticed them today, but it might have been the other day that I got them; I haven't peeked in at the store in a few days.

Oh this is great news I'm reading! How about tokens? Are people getting their tokens???

See, I hit tier 9 just about a couple weeks before the bad news hit. I'm an (almost) 3-year veteran, so that means I paid a lot of money to reach tier 9! Why? Because I wanted those awesome Mech suit parts! (Not exactly a Transformers fan but the parts individually are VERY useful for Marvel-style power armor suits.) I was lucky enough to receive my last Paragon Token on the night I finished buying my way to the top, so I was able to snag the Mecha Armor pack with the backpacks, weapons and wings. Then the news hit, and I've been worried I'd never get to have any of the other parts.

May not seem like a big deal to others, but I'm still playing and enjoying the game while it's there and I had a concept in mind. Screw their refund, I'm using all of my points to buy power sets and other goodies to play with during the next couple months (I have a cool concept in mind for a Beta server character to take through the Issue 24 content). I don't want my stupid pocket change back, I just want City of Heroes. Arg! Those assclowns.

Exactly. I just picked up staff, water blast, and nature affinity this evening.

Happy day! I logged on and found I had my monthly stipend.

I figure I can pick up water blast now, and if the game is indeed still afloat by about this time in November, and if I'm still getting the monthly points, I'll have enough to buy staff as well.

And then play it for a week.
