If you accepted the UAC prompt when NC Launcher starts (or any other it might have brought up), then City of Heroes got started as an elevated process. An unelevated process can't poke and prod an elevated process, so you would have to run Sentinel Plus as an elevated process as well for it to gather the data.

Just to amplify, running under an administrator is not the same thing as running as an administrative elevated role. Even accounts with administrative rights can run processes with and without elevated permissions.

But then, I am very proficient with multiple OSes, so maybe the idea is just natural enough to me, and I know enough about where to find all the knobs and switches, that it was easy for me to adapt to and use. I would never claim it's easy for a non-expert user to know how to make UAC happy for programs that it doesn't play well with.

Thanks so much for making a tool like this available. I haven't had a chance to use it yet as I'm on a mac and need to get on my PC, but it's great to know that I'll be able to save details of all my characters even if the game turns off completely on November 30th.

I have not done all my toons yet but I did about 30you of my main ones. This program works really well and saves all info on a character in like 2 seconds. Thank You for this awesome program.

You might not need to worry about paying to go VIP though; some of Paragon Studios' employees have said they're negotiating possibly making everyone a VIP for the duration, free of charge. All you'd need to do then is just reinstall the game.

Er, how does Paragon Studios feel about this program?
And if another pro publisher bought out the IP and PS, I would think they would not allow character imports due to both the potential for hacking and the fact that those who didn't use it would be starting from scratch, which would make for extremely imbalanced new servers both team-wise and economy-wise. Newbies wouldn't stand a chance in the market.
I'd like Zwill's and Positron's/War Witch's/other PS's take on this.

Considering that it never seemed like Paragon had any problem with the prior incarnations of Titan Sentinel (which would already extract your badges and builds), I doubt they'll have even a slight problem with this utility.

That's not what this is for. This is for the possibility that the IP is stuffed in a vault at NCSoft somewhere, and we have to resort to community tools to experience CoH in some possibly limited degree from then on. Depending on the community's level of success, this could range from programs that let us view saved characters off-line to full, community-driven servers. The higher we set our sights there, the longer and harder it's going to be to pull it off, but at this point, everything is at least theoretically on the table.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.

I am still having the problem where it doesn't think the game/character is online when trying a character with an apostrophe in her name. Have updated to newest version, and had no problem with characters without special characters.
