Um hell no.
This game is terrible without the community on its A game and the devs releasing good content while also fixing the game (cough AE cough). None of which would happen if an illegal underground emulator of this surfaced.

Here's a pretty standard definition of an internet troll, this one taken from wikipedia.

I started this thread, and I've repeatedly stated that I believe what I wrote in the OP - and every subsequent post I've made.
I've assured Uber and others that it was not a troll thread.
Despite this they have derailed this thread by labeling me a troll (off topic messages) and have continued to throw about insults, which quite simply appear to me to be designed to provoke an emotional response from me.
Do you not think that ticks the boxes as trolling?
He doesn't agree with the subject of the thread - that's fine. I have no problem whatsoever with that.
To start trolling the thread is another matter altogether.
This is/was a legit issue that many overlooked (regarding AE PL'ing) -
It may not have "killed" the game, but it was game breaking in my eyes.
It is sooooooooo easy to power level a character in game. I have never played another MMO where it was so easy to PL. 1-50 with a skilled farmer took like what? An hour?
And here I am wondering why I can't find teams with lower level content. If you didnt enjoy grinding DFB or DIB you were screwed and I played on a popular server. -
Obviously a majority of the posters here are very mad COH is closing for good and rightfully so. Me on the either hand am not upset at all.
The games in game server population was pretty average even on freedom and virtue (and this was after the game went F2P!). To make matters worse a majority of people that played on my server (freedom) just farmed and a majority of the toons were lvl 50 meaning less teaming during the lower levels which was a huge PIA. The people that did play lower level toons were either complete noobs and didn't know how to play or snobbish vets who were playing an alt and felt superior thanks to their vet status. Thats a terrible player balance.
I first played this game back in 05 or 06 (dont recall) and have played off and on since. Everytime I returned however the game just felt more dated compared to other mmos. The powersets and combat are pretty much the same from back in 05 and it just felt meh. The game has not aged well for me. Going rogue was nice but its novelty wore off rather quickly for me.
This is a minority opinion on this forum but does anyone else feel the same? When I heard the news it really didnt bother me at all. It was nice to play this at first but it went downhill from there IMO -

seriously what is with some people taking this so seriously.
The game was old and had a good run. Some people need a reality check that protesting like angry citizens will not accomplish anything. MMOs getting shut down now a days is just the nature of the beast and to be honest hearing about this game getting closed was not surprising in the least. -

Wasn't really a full time player but I was off and on since 2005/06. Lots of fun memories
Really regret dropping a hundred bucks on this game over the summer tho >.>

Anime style pieces are not a good fit for this game imo
i've seen alot of players over the years try and make anime style characters and most of them look pretty bad.....
Def no to new anime pieces. I agreed with a thread a while back that said we needed to bring some more golden age style hero pieces. I think those type of costumes should be higher priority. -

I managed to get the cartoon maker running again (mostly) on a virtual Win98 install and watched a bunch of the cartoons I made when I was 13-14 (15 years ago, geez). I gotta be honest...they have not aged well.
I remember this feature where if u had a mic for your PC back then u could record audio to your cartoons...lots of lolz from that
My grandma actually had the game and I cant remember what type of PC she had then. She had a ton of games that came in this like starter package. I remember another game it came with was like toon adventure or some weird point and click adventure game.

The earliest I remember it was on this game called "spiderman cartoon maker" that was released for PC back sometime in the 90's lol. Theres clips of it on youtube.

Golden Girl made a crack at TOR earlier in the thread, but WoW has had even less content than than in the same timeframe. It's ridiculous, but Blizzard has those folks hooked.
I have a friend who has been a wow player since 04 and he refuses to try any other mmos. Only other MMO he tried was Aion cause a roomate bought it for him and then he quit a month later.
He said if I tried wow with him he would try CoH so I try Wow and then he still makes exuses to this day why he wont give coh a shot because he thinks WOW is the best mmo ever made. -
