A request... in memoriam of those players who have passed

Our heroes and villains may be immortal... but sadly, their players are not. And in our community, many of us remember those players who have left this life.

While I know that the vast majority of you have never made demorecords, I would like to include as many of our late brethren as I can in my goodbye video. If you have either their characters' demofiles or even their costume codes (in case they showed up in an AE arc), please post their character information here.

For those who are fortunate enough to have actual photos of those players, I will most likely be asking for those soon as well. Let me know whose pictures you have, in this thread, and stay tuned...

Oh... wow, now I know why... that's... beautiful, Michelle. Spot on, a tribute video.

I have no personal knowledge of anyone who is fighting crime in a higher plane. I'm thankful for that.

I just wanted to say it will be awesome, and poignant. I look forward to seeing what you do, and know that it will be excellent per usual.

Mike

A great friend left me his account when he passed last year, I'm happy to send whatever you need from Virtue

I never met him in game but there was a player who posted regulerly on the Comics and Hero/Villain Culture board who had the forum handle Lord_of_Time (obvious Doctor Who fan) passed around a 18 months. Turgenev's post on his passing.

So maybe a passing shot of the Police Public Call Box in the Night Ward.

I was actually just thinking about posting something similar. I have a story, unfortunately not really much else (perhaps one or two screenshots), because the person that I know who passed it was quite a while ago before demoedits became popular.

He was actually the reason I chose Protector server as my home. I'd gotten the game as a birthday present from folks who also played at that time - I don't know whether they were in beta, but might have been.

I was running the Comic Gallery at the time, in Mira Mesa (a burb in San Diego CA) and we were all pretty excited about this superhero game because it was appropriate to all of us as comic fans. So I wanted to get a supergroup going, for my customers. It still exists, the Comic Gallery Irregulars.

El Cazador was Steve's character, a play on a pirate toon. We only teamed a few times, but then the store wound up closing, and I wound up not seeing a lot of people except at comic cons for the next few years. I hadn't known that Steve died only about 2 years after that, I found out while googling for him. It was quite a shock. He was a bear of a man, participated in Mixed Martial Arts, and for that reason: he died from a blood clot from injuries doubtless incurred from that activity. He had played Lobo for halloween, and looked the part.

I kept El Cazador in our SG to commemorate him, it seemed fitting to hold a spot for those who passed, an empty costume.

Muad'dib was killed

Malibu barbi died in a car accident

Jay Doherty: Yes, there was this one night that I was ready to go home but had to drop the browns off at the super bowl before I left for home. While on the throne it hit me. I stayed for a few more hours and that why we have the pain pads in the game.

The only two people I know other than those mentioned so far are Muad_Dib and Blue Sigma (not sure of that was Blue Sigma's literal forum name, or if it had underscores or whatever). I didn't know Muad_Dib, but he used to haunt the forums pretty regularly. I actually met Blue Sigma in person one time a loooong time ago; he coordinated a meet-and-greet north of Atlanta that I went to. Super nice guy. When I heard he had passed away, it really shocked me. I don't think I have any pictures of him, but I'll dig around and see if I can find any.

Edit: Here we go, this is Blue Sigma. It's a tiny picture, but it's all we have.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)

I don't know anyone personally, but Coyote deserves to be there, obviously.

Crimson Sun on Champion Server, member of the Legacy Foundation, passed away last year due to complications from diabetes. I'll provide screenshots as soon as I can dig them up. Never got an actual picture of him.

I couldn't agree more.

Over on Defiant was a player called Mighty Saguaro. He was massively loved by a lot of players, unfortunately I don't have any screenies or anything

I do. I made a great friend some years ago in this game, we would team together every morning and well into the afternoon, enjoying one anothers' company and just having a blast saving the city.

@Steel Seraph was her global, her RL name Anne. I still don't know all of the details regarding what happend to cause her passing, but she is still very much missed by me and a handful of others. She may not have been extremely well-known throughout the game, but that doesn't make her any less of a friend or hero.

I have some screenshots that I can dig up somewhere, I will get them to you as soon as I find them.

He was a member of the Echelon, so they might have some SG photos somewhere.

EDIT: He's actually on their front page - although it's a little small:

My wife Zantana, from Liberty.

She disappeared while traveling out of the country for her work in 2004. No one knows what happened to her; she just never came back to her hotel one night. It never made national news, but it certainly left a hole in my heart. I still have the last email she sent me right before she left; it's never left my inbox and never will.

We were married August 6th, 2004, on Ithaca Island, surrounded by family and friends. I cherish the time I spent with her in this online world, and I have and always remain faithful to my first and foremost partner. I'll get the costume code out of the AE mission I made in tribute to her and post it here as soon as I can.

Thank you, Michelle. Your videos have been amazing over the years, and I appreciate you taking the time to do at least one more for our fallen brothers and sisters.

That's heartbreaking. I'm so sorry.

I remember reading about a girl called Galatea. She died in a rally accident, I think.

I've looked through all of my oldest screen shots for pictures of Lex, from Liberty... But I don't have any.

I really hope LordAllmighty or someone else from the crew has some, because she was great. She helped coach Pally and I through some of my first "tanking for a real team" missions.
