Anyone thought of asking George Takei?

Vin Diesel is a celebrity I'd suggest also trying to get word to. He is a big RPer, particularly for D&D. He also owns a games development studio, Tigon Studios, so he I am assuming has business area experience. Don't know if he plays CoH, but think he would make an awesome angel investor for buying the I.P. and re-launching a Paragon Studios in some form.

All great ideas everyone. Now we just have to carry through with it. Contact Stan lee, Goerge Takei, Joss Whedon, Vin, and all local Comic Book Shops.
We can also take a wider angle of "geeks under threat from a big business that just doesn't get it" - emphasize it as an attack on the geekosphere as a whole - our fun, harmless nerdy hobby is being stamped out with no reason given.

Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright are big comic book fans.

Also, Paragon Studios are considered pioneers (rightfully so). They've managed to keep this oddball game going, breaking ground and setting some trends along the way... all while being its own aberration within the industry.
Some of those articles (certainly about the Mission Architect) could be handy links and such for showing... this really is the mainstream big corporation world stamping out profitable and successful ingenuity and geekdom.
and round up everyone that knows more than they do"-Dylan
Not to mention Wil Wheaton. Last I knew he was a legit lover of geekdom and gamedom.
Abraham Benrubi is an avid player, and even if he does not have the finances, we could ask him to stand behind us menacingly. In fact, I have his e-mail around here somewhere...
MY FAREWELL GIFT
It is never truly gone, as long as there is someone left to remember.
I know there are some celebrities that play! How about coming out and tell NCSoft to City of Heroes running!!

I spoke to him out of game so I know it was him.

There I was between a rock and a hard place. Then I thought, "What am I doing on this side of the rock?"
I know Brian Brushwood (great Magician, host of Scam School on Revision 3 and host of NSFW and other shows on the TWiT.tv network) used to play. www.shwood.com is his site. He's on all the social media sites.

Not to be insensitive, but I can't imagine that a bunch of Korean businessmen would give even the smallest crap about what a minor American celebrity of any sort has to say about anything.
Likewise, I know from other contacts in my personal life that anyone who has an income level that is far above what most people would consider to be average is bombarded constantly with solicitations for donations.
This just does not seem to be a productive avenue no matter how I look at it. I want the game to continue as well, but pestering famous or semi-famous people about it isn't going to make anything better.
Things I hate: Anime. PvP. Lying MMO Developers. Outleveling content. Manga. ED. Comic Store Employees. Anime.

@Doctor Gemini
Arc #271637 - Welcome to M.A.G.I. - An alternative first story arc for magic origin heroes. At Hero Registration you heard the jokes about Azuria always losing things. When she loses the entire M.A.G.I. vault, you are chosen to find it.
Two things:
1) We sent a heartfelt letter to a company no one thought to approach and if they bite, especialy since I have connections there, it will be a moment unlike any you have ever seen. 2) Thank you for the "So Long and Thanks for the Ponies" thread in the Hero Culture forums. It is priceless and one is now part of my desktop backdrop. (No, I'm not Tara *smirk*) |

More press is more press.
This is about support and pulicity for out campaign, not donations.

It was created by comic book fans, run by comic book fans, and played by comic books fans - and now a multinational corporation is going to shut it down because it no long fits in with its business plan.
Bringing in Stan Lee seems like such an obvious thing to do I can't believe hearing the idea left my dumbfounded for a second.
Thanks to everyone that helped make me a welcomed part of the community, and for giving me over 3 years of some of the best gaming I've been able to take part in. May the next game bring many friendships and maybe reconnect to some old CoH friends.
