One last video for my greatest inspiration... but what?

I cannot go... I WILL not go without making one more video for this game that has been my inspiration for the past five years.

CITY OF HEROES, since I first began playing in January of 2007, has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. It has also been one of the most profound influences on my creativity in recent memory, inspiring several character biographies, 3 novels, and no less than 33 videos for the game (and 50 more that will now never be made).

But I don't know what to make. I have limited time, very limited money, and God only knows how much longer the game will be here. But I WILL do it. Somehow.

EDIT: Thank you guys for the suggestions... as a result, you're getting not one but three videos. One is my farewell to the game... one is for the community (still working on that one)... and one is a memorial to those players who have passed away since this game of ours began (there's a separate thread about that one for those who want to contribute player information for it).

If nothing else... thank you. All of you. For helping to make me better than I was when I got here.

(And rednames, you are welcome to post suggestions as well.)

Maybe it should be simple. Heroes never die so how can you end on fighting. Maybe heroes flying, running and jumping into a sunset, on to face whatever challenges await them?

I'd say maybe character files and such, I'd imagine an endless stream of characters would be about the best way to sum it all up. It's about the people, the game gave us that more than anything else.

Though that's kind of bittersweet. Perhaps a big battle, something we win. >_> yeah this day isn't gonna be a good one.

INT. PORTAL CORP

A giant, spinning portal in the BACKGROUND.

Shadows all around reveal themselves to be silhouettes of hundreds of HEROES in the FOREGROUND.

One by one, the heroes enter the portal and disappear.

Finally, only one remains.

Just before she steps through, she turns and looks around one last time. Then she looks directly at the camera and gives a THUMB'S UP. She steps through the portal and is gone.

SUPER:

"NEW ADVENTURES AWAIT. SEEK THEM OUT."

FADE OUT

End it how it began...

We see heroes fall in a dramatic conflict against unstoppable odds but they manage to pull out a win.

Outside the city hall steps a lone hero approaches Ms Liberty who is in mourning over those lost. The character helps her up, talks with her for a moment (montage of all the past issues that have happened). The hero looks out over the city once more in desperate need of heroes and flies off into the sunset to answer the call.

I know you don't normally use copyright music, but surely The Stranglers would be the optimum soundtrack.

One song that in particular keeps going through my head is the reprise of Alan Parsons' "Blue Blue Sky."

I just hope I can get through making this video without breaking down completely. I'm in tears right now as it is.

How's this for a thought:


Heroes standing on the steps in Atlas Park, all of them using the salute emote, facing the Atlas Statue.

Then, one by one, they take off, and they fly through the city in formation, finally landing at Portal corp, where they disperse through the portals.

::City of Heroes logo on black field... logo fades out leaving the screen dark::

::Atlas Park... under the statue... costume contest line of heroes along one edge of the platform... they are doing the usual emote poses and spamming of powers... then stop as Michelle's main character approaches... they slowly disband... flying at hover speed, walking... no superspeed... no running or leaping...::

::Talos Island... on top of the hill... huge group of heroes... gathered for an invasion of some kind perhaps... Michelle's main walks up the hill... the camera follows her back... the crowd parts before her... making space for her... she reaches the summit... she raises her hands for attention... they all turn to face her... moments later they turn and depart... walking yet again...::

::Grandville... one of the giant jumbotrons... a jokester (even Steelclaw perhaps?)... is clicking a remote of some kind that brings up the NCSoft logo on the giant screen with a huge red cross-out over it... Michelle approaches and shakes her head... the jokester hangs his head in sadness then nods and walks away...::

::a series of very short shots... Michelle walking through each of the zones in rapid succession... just walking... as though absorbing everything in for one lone lasting memory...::

::an image of Michelle's character standing atop the Atlas Sphere... she makes one last wave goodbye... then above her head appears the log-out countdown...::

::Final scene... the real Michelle in her office at her computer desk... she sighs... reaches to the computer tower and turns it off... she stands and teh camera pans to follow her to the door... she turns back to give one last look towards the computer... then clicks the light switch and closes the door... everything goes black::

::white words on black field:: Goodbye City of Heroes... You will never be forgotten...

Scene opens up in Altas Park with a hero named "Pyropharm3r" yelling out "Fire cave farm. 300 per run." Then after no response. "150m per run?" "10m per run?" Then after some silence over the skies you will see in big lettes "GDAYMate2010.com powerleveling services 1 to 50 plus 1 billion influence in 4 hours" Then Pyropharm3r looks around and calls out "Looking for DFB blueside."

Aaaand that's how it ends. [fade to black]

I still say (as I've talked to you before about this) that we need a music video featuring this song.

I make completely different CoH videos than you do, and nowhere near as talented, but if you need any help with this, let me know. I JUST BUILT a new gaming machine monster YESTERDAY to help me make gaming videos - full 1080p with everything cranked, even when recording on top of 4x AA... argh this is such a sad day.

EDIT: yeah, definitely should be an emotional and memorable music video of some kind
