One last video for my greatest inspiration... but what?

::a series of very short shots... Michelle walking through each of the zones in rapid succession... just walking... as though absorbing everything in for one lone lasting memory...::

::an image of Michelle's character standing atop the Atlas Sphere... she makes one last wave goodbye... then above her head appears the log-out countdown...::

::Final scene... the real Michelle in her office at her computer desk... she sighs... reaches to the computer tower and turns it off... she stands and teh camera pans to follow her to the door... she turns back to give one last look towards the computer... then clicks the light switch and closes the door... everything goes black::

::white words on black field:: Goodbye City of Heroes... You will never be forgotten...


That's amazing, with the added bonus of personal significance to the director herself.


My suggestion is to pick a spot somewhere (or two spots, for both sides of the game), and go to each server for as long as you want, and one at a time, film people standing in the same spot and /e bigwave 'ing facing the camera. Speed it up as much as possible to fit as many as you wish, with character name and global name credits at the end.


Or, montage a bunch of characters using several powersets signature moves on key enemies (like Recluse, Snaptooth, GW, Tyrant in his cave map), blend them seamlessly so each looks like the power user is just shifting form while they attack. Powers like Eagles Claw, Eviscerate, Full Auto, Mass Confusion, Shield Charge, Wormhole, Fulcrum Shift... and the Judgements too.

Though to be honest, it'd probably best to do both of those, with a send off to the skies and horizon to nail the ending.

I'd rather it not be about me, personally. As I've already featured the game twice in my 5th and 6th anniversary vids, I'd rather this be more about the players. Though I do like the idea of ending with everyone either taking to the skies or going through Portal Corp...

Michelle, I suspect that I am speaking for a great majority of the player base when I say that I can think of no greater Player Representative than you.

You have captured the art and soul of this game again and again in your videos. We have championed your cause to work for Paragon directly as though it were our own. You are one of the Legendary Forumites and likely the head of the Pantheon.

The video you make is intended to be about the City of Heroes game and... ultimately... the game is about US. It's about the players. The community is what made this game so great and I can honestly think of no one I would rather have be the visual symbol of that community in the final video than you.

An overview. Or maybe a video collage. You simply must have as many players as possible, on one server, with the wave emote, on the last day..

Another thought came to mind. It would be nice to have some players in the costume creator use the "chest emblem letters" and spell out something awesome.

And if a song is needed, I suggest "Dust in the wind". Def emotional.

a long slow quiet walk through the streets of Paragon city by a generic un-named person. Starting in Atlas part, the streets are lined by NPC civilians. Then in Kings Row the Low level NPC badies. As you progress through the streets they are lined by the more and more powerful NPCS, moving up into the MOnsterous creatures. Only to come back to Atlas park, where the streets, and roof tops are lined by us. The player characters. We line every street and every roof. Until we come back to the statue of Atlas, where the Phalanx stand. Coming full circle from where it began.

While I can honestly say that I'm not sure how the video should be executed, I do know that several songs came to my mind today and I think that they might make for some good soundtrack to an EPIC film piece.

A tour through *all* of the zones. A chance to get to see everything that will eventually vanish. There is so much. I guess it may not be feasible, but I don't want to forget the places there used to be. Nor do I want to forget the people I have gotten to know. Both real life people and unforgettable characters and stories.

Thinking back there is just to much I have seen, and I can say I have invested a lot of my time and creativity into this game. Yet there is no way to really collect all together and cork it into a bottle. The magic smoke is out... :P

Always loved your videos Sam and I am sure whatever you create will be memorable. It's sad that this is all coming to an end but a video is definitely something to remember it by.

I would love to see something of a tour through the zones, the whole experience in a package from 1-50 and then the hardest content with all the features. Maybe starting with a costume contest in AP, DFB, AE, then to PP, King's row....etc

It's too much to put in a video I get that but a condensed version of that. I would be honored to have TA in there, I think you have the demo file still

A montage of several of your characters going from creation all the way to Incarnate, hitting the highlights in various zones, missions, TFs, etc. Mix in solo and team play, to highlight various powersets, and vary the enemy groups.

If that's too long, you could do something like telling a City of Heroes story through the perspective of one of the NPCs, maybe get their view of the past several years as the Issues changed the game, and end with an epilogue of what the city will be like without Heroes.


I'll look forward to anything you do, Samuraiko. You'll know what's fitting.

DR, you need to be in the video. If it's a group shot, you need to be leading us, if it's a leading Hero rising up it's you.

I would propose Rularuu attacking and all of the Heroes and Villains stopping what they're doing to combat the threat, but it's not enough, and in the last moments the last Hero and Villain standing remember all the good times they've had, the 1-50 run, the trials, the taskforces, the banks robbed, the friends and the enemies. Fade to black.

Sometimes all at once.
