Coffee Talk Aug 22
I haven't read the whole thread, but there was also mention of a change to the -Speed portion of [Rooted] in Stone Armor... Synapse commented that (paraphrased) "-Movement just isn't fun and doesn't really work with how the game has evolved."
He got cut off by some random HR person and then Zwill chiming in about his stupid lunch. So, perhaps the most interesting part of the entire Coffee Talk got ruined by some mention of a sandwhich I have never even heard of before.
Synapse never got back on track after that tangent.

The only drastic change a Ninjitsu for scrappers would need, IMO, is Caltrops due to Epic redundancy.
The Placate and -Perception debuffs can work for scrappers, and Hide can use a similar mechanic to what is seen in AE: a damage buff that suppresses on attack, doing only the first attack from hide do bonus damage. I think that one caltrops power can safely be swapped with a passive regen power. |
So Scrappers wouldn't even be as stealthy as Stalkers (without an IO or Superspeed).
Also, Scrappers can be stealthy. Scrappers doesn't mean "Oh hey, I don't know how to sneak up on people" especially when it was Scrappers who had Dark Armor first.
And min/max? I want Ninjitsu for Scrappers, as that may be (sadly) the closest I can ever get to a Positional Defense/Regen(SelfHeal) defense set.
Yeah, I'd like some tweaking in other areas of the set (lose Lethal Resist, maybe raise Smashing Resist, turn the clickie mez shield into a toggle for my own sanity) but what I am pretty sure of is NIN on Scrappers wouldn't be the min/max of choice.
It's DDR for one thing is not that great.
Also, Scrappers just have access to attacks I want! For instance...I'd love to reroll as StJ/NIN and have Rib Cracker!
Also, Im for porting sets over to Stalkers! Especially Titan Weapons!

[*]Finally Caltrops. This would actually be fine except that the devs have a rule against duplicating powers

Rename the power "Footspikes"!
I really should do something about this signature.

Ice for brutes? does this mean that synapse has figured out a way to make the slows compatible with fury?

I feel like the only person not excited about the possibility of Kinetics on Masterminds. I mean, I'm all for proliferation. It's not going to hurt anyone to give Kinetics to Masterminds. I'm just not seeing what about it is going to be so incredible from a performance perspective. >_>
Fulcrum Shift at it's most potent on a Mastermind will only be +180% Damage (if they set it up correctly, anyway; they might end up just copying the Corruptor/Controller version), and on Henchmen that doesn't sound all that awesome to me. I mean, even the tier 3 pets only have Defender-level damage mods. On top of that, the pets don't benefit from Speed Boost's +Recharge (at least they shouldn't, I think a couple of their powers are a bit bugged) and you won't be able to heal them unless you can get them to go in to melee (and some refuse).
Just those couple of things could really dampen Kinetics blitzkrieg method of support.
It'll be okay, I just don't see what will make it more awesome than some sets Masterminds already have.
Now... when Masterminds get Cold Domination, that will just be ridiculously good. Like why-play-any-other-secondary good.
And if we're talking about proliferation we want to see, I'm oddly kind of wanting to play a Poison Defender. I think the set will actually work fairly well with their mods.
So I missed the coffee talk yesterday and it's still not up today not on twitch or youtube.

I would have loved to make a Ninja/Kinetics MM when CoV first came out. It's like being a kinetics defender in a scrapper only team!
Alas, even if/when Kinetics gets released to MMs I probably won't use it....ah well.

Maybe they might look at removing rooting when using some/all powers? I think that'd count as "mind-blowing", even if it might need a bit of animation work.

Or they just turn Hide into a Stealth power like Cloak of Darkness.

You can just give it the Energy Aura treatment for Hide, but look for how many issues EA sucked.
Adding a damage buff is thematic with the "offense and utility over survivability" design sets like Fire and Shields have.

I'd be more interested in getting Ninjitsu for Tankers, personally.
