Just sucks you gotta be Tier 9 to get a quiver. Hopefully they come out with another kind of quiver for everyone else.

They haven't even announced it yet, where'd you hear that?

The Tech Knight set is on beta right now in a very unfinished state - but it has a quiver.

We already know there will be a quiver in the Post-Apoc set, as well. I'd assume there would be a generic one as well.

Always remember, we were Heroes.

It's funny how they still love to "gate" this kind of new content. When capes first came to the game you had to be at least level 20. When wings first came to the game you had to be at least a 15 month Vet to get them. I suppose forcing the first arrow quiver to be a Tier 9 costume item upholds the tradition of making sure they are limited at first.

I guess this allows them to get more in-game feedback to make sure they are good before they offer a more universal option in the future. Still, it seems like a low enough risk item now that they wouldn't have to go through the motions of artificially limiting it like that but who knows. *shrugs*

Thing is that "quiver" you're talking about is really just a huge golf bag. I guess it was easier for them to make it big like that so that it meshed better with the backs of characters. I think what made the arrow quiver so hard for them to do well is to have it connect well enough to people's backs without it looking bad.

So, what about that scabbard?

Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.

I think Scabbards are still a long way off, simply due to the large number of different sword models used by the game, and by each power set. With the quiver, all of the arrow-using power sets use animations that draw the arrows from the same spot, and all of the arrows are relatively the same size.

Also, they can only draw these types of times one way: full or empty. The character model would either be left holding a sword in their hand with a sword still visible in the sheath, or drawing a sword out of a seemingly empty sheath. A quiver of arrows is supposed to run out eventually, true enough, but given the number of arrows a quiver holds, that detail is more easily ignored.

from a marketing perspective you are not gating new content. You are providing exclusive content to veteran players. you change the exclusive content to something new and fresh so that veteran's appreciate the exclusive content.

the goal is not the restricting new content, it is giving veteran's a bonus

Vigilante/Rogue arcs:

Vigilantes get their arcs from a Hero Corps sub-section, there's a branch called "Void Sanction" that asks you to take out targets. Contact is reached only by phone.

Rogues are helped by Wyvern.

Both groups get "tips" or need to pick up items known as "dead drops" in zones to further their mission paths along. They've been wanting to do stuff for the "side" alignment for awhile and finally got the opportunity.

Kings Row makeover:

Regulators-tied: The Regulators are past their prime so an old member helps things along in Kings Row.
Skulls got a makeover to make them look much more lugubrious.
Spawns have been adjusted, "Hazard Zone lite" in some spaces, with higher level spawns to be more challenging.
Talk about the Cyrus Thompson Memorial Centre, Posi pushed for it and was able to do something appropriate.

Questions about the game, either side? /t @Neuronia or @Neuronium, with your queries!

There were pics of them in an old thread. They basically use player parts with a new mask. Nothing too special. Even the new type "death doll" or something like that, uses the heart w/ skin option (I think). I'll try and dig up the pics.

Hey, the Skulls are now an equal opportunity organization!

They say that, but I think the difficulty may be overstated. It explains why creating a scabbard isn't as simple as just making a belt that looks like it has a sword hanging off of it like some people seem to think, but that's all.

We've had costume parts that change their behavior/appearance based on whether a specific power is active for years now (wings, rocket/winged/piston boots, jetpacks), and auras that only turn on when the character is in a combat stance for a while too. The Vanguard shield has "on" and "off" graphics -- and it even has an animation to transition between the two. I don't see any reason a scabbard couldn't work like the Vanguard shield.

I think it's more of a "this would be a LOT of work and we're very busy creating other awesome things" situation than a "we don't have the tech to pull it off at all" one.

FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

If that's the marketing folks' way of sugar-coating the behind-the-scenes engineers' request to make sure revolutionary new types of costume graphics don't break the game in general then more power to them.

It was actually quite obvious, especially in the case of capes, that the Devs were at first not completely ready to have every single player overloading the servers with capes. As time went on and improvements to the servers happened it became evident that they no longer had to gate capes behind level 20 characters.

Just to be clear I have absolutely no problem with the game gating new content. I just realize that oftentimes they do it not just to arbitrarily "give veterans a bonus" but instead to control the amount of server bandwidth that's required to accommodate things like new costume item concepts.
