Stargate SG-1 Sounds

Just to talk about the sounds... there are sounds from Quake I in here too. And perhaps some Quake II.

There are generic sounds that anyone can have, so they get propagated. Kinda like the Whilehlm Screem that gets in to just about every movie as an industry wide running gag, if it will fit the scene:

/Miss Stargate too, and Caprica. SyFy sucked when they did that, and I haven't reupped Cable because of it.
//That's right, SyFy. YOU were the only reason I had cable in the first place, and you messed it up!
///Miss the good Doctor too. Sigh.

Never really got into Doctor Who....I watched one of the movies which I thought was pretty good, but when I tried watching the series it just did not hold my interest.

I think my next Netflix series I will start watching is Supernatural.

Now I am on Season 3 of SG1... Maybe I should slow down and they will bring out another SG series before I finish all 10 seasons LOL!

I also have to remember to watch the 2 movies of SG1 after I finish season 10..

Have you watched the original Stargate movie with Kurt Russell as O'Neill and James Spader as Jackson?

Think of how much longer it could have been on the air if they had decided to find its Story first, and then tried to make a tv show about that story second.

So... "Screw the setup and jump in now now now?" Well, I suppose not doing that was what did in Babylon 5: Crusade and Jericho so you might have a point, but I don't think it's a very good one, mind you.

I miss Jericho too... and I miss Dollhouse...

Oddly enough, apparently SciFi was a bunch of idiots and ran it against a huge football game, which slaughtered its ratings on the east coast (and on the west coast, it did extremely well...).

As for Doctor Who... any show that could promote a mild character like Rory Williams into this... well, it just has to be pretty damn awesome.

Crusade suffered from some of the same things that Firefly did, Network didn't care and ran the episodes out of sequence and the story arc made no sense.

and I still Giggle when I see that scene of Rory.

You mean all the wrestling and cooking shows and Megashark?
Considering WHO controls the axe, that reference makes loads of sense. ;-)

I've heard the Blyde Square music used on some show my wife was watching. TMZ, or Access Hollywood, or some such.

Just yesterday, I also heard the Ouroboros "beeps" on something, but when I turned to look at the TV, a commercial had just begun. So I am not sure if it was on a show or a previous commercial. And I've already forgotten which show was on TV.

Thank you, Champion.

I loved SG-1, liked Atlantis, universe was kind of meh. Where Atlantis went wrong was putting that Dr. Weir in charge of everything. She consistently made the worst decisions and only made things worse. Kind of reminds me of Captain Janeway on Voyager where she always wanted to stop on every single planet constantly putting her crew in danger over and over. She by far went thru the most Red-Shirts in star trek than any other series.

As for as where the stargate universe went wrong is not enough involvement with some of the original actors from the previous series. Too much involvement with the non-military personal. It just seemed so un-realistic that this many non- prepared people would have gotten stranded like this. Lastly what I hated was all the focus on the love stories. Those were pointless and just showed how shallow some of the characters were. However I have new appreciation for who the Ancients were because of how old that ship was but yet it was still so advanced despite being 70 million+ years old.

How they could have redeemed both series and made them as successful as the original is the following: Killed off Dr. Weir by the 2nd episode, change the main villain in the series to something else instead of the Wraith. It seemed like they were trying to hard to cash in on the Twilight vampire series. For stargate universe they could have put more prepared staff instead of throwing in a group of misfits together. Next is not focus so much on the love triangles. That crap has been done to death. Action is where its at.

It's funny because I mainly play a Warshade and watched the series while playing CoH. So everytime I'd be running around, while the show was on, I'd stop in my tracks and rotate the camera view to see what Kheldians were in my area transforming. I didn't realize it till about 2 episodes later that it was actually the show.
I have always viewed the Khelds as being the Goauld and Tokra because how similar the stories are. Its kind of like that took that and the Star Trek trill thing and just ran with it.

I miss my Stargate - SGU started out focusing a little too much on the internal bickering between the characters, but it was starting to find its feet in the second season. I understand why they did what they did in Season 1 - they didn't want to just be another "Lost in Space" or "Star Trek". One thing I loved about SGU is how they really made Space feel like more than just a backdrop, and a sense of how *BIG* the universe really is. In Star Trek, Star Wars, or any other Sci-Fi show I've watched, Space doesn't seem any bigger than my back yard, and is simply a backdrop to to the rest of the show.

Fringe is currently my only source of Sci-Fi right now. NBC has this "Revolution" show coming soon. Even though it's JJ Abrams work, it's also on NBC (which controls SyFy )

SyFy just (well, like yesterday or the day before) cancelled Sanctuary.

It was Amanda Tapping's project (Samantha Carter from the Stargate franchise), and she was also the main character, Helen Magnus.

I can't believe they did that. I can't believe their priorities could be so whacked.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a cable channel devoted to playing Science Fiction and Fantasy 24/7? I'm sure such a mythical network would never so blatantly kill such worthy franchises.

I guess while I'm dreaming, I'll also imagine a cable network that shows nothing but cartoons all day. Or, do I dare mention it, plays music videos 24/7? Oh, to dream the impossible dream.

The canceled Sanctuary? And they did so on my birthday too, which figures, because it was a terrible day for me anyway. Figures something like this would happen too.

Fortunately Fringe got renewed, and Warehouse 13 and Alphas will be returning too.

It is sad though that so many of the great theme channel have forgotten their original purpose and become just another channel.

As has been said before while SG:U was still airing, I watched all of the episodes and, yes, the 1st season was meh at best for 90% of it, it was "different" and wasn't all that bad.

If they just cut out about 4-7 of the "bickering" or "love triangle" episodes out and done more story it would have been nice.

Or just renewed it for Season 3.

Only good thing from SG:U was finding out about Robert Carlyle....one of the main reasons why I watch Once Upon A Time.

I love Once Upon A Time! The last 10 seconds of season 1 I was like: OH SNAP!
