Transformers (4 seasons)
G.I. Joe (1 season)
Jem and the Holograms (1 season)

Looks like I've reliving a good chunk of my childhood this weekend!

Jem and the Holograms?

...You worry me sometimes.

Yeah, if I hadn't already "relived" much of these over the past several months on The Hub, I'd probably have put them in my queue when they showed up.

If they ever got The Real Ghostbusters for streaming, I'd be all over that.

I don't get the Hub as part of my DirecTV package. Those jerks.

The worst part is that they show MLP:FIM, but I still had to add that to my queue because I missed several episodes due to the timeslot.

I managed to catch pretty much every episode of Jem without trying, though. I used to hate that show, now it reminds me of any number of anime that I watch.

The Real Ghostbusters box set is like $180! I almost had a heart attack when I saw that.

I guess I never watched Season 2 of G1 Transformers...reason I say this is simply because I do not remember that swanky entrance toon....

I actually started watching Transformers when I first saw they were added....and there is no conceivable reason why the Autobots didn't get wiped out of existence. I'm actually finding myself annoyed while re-watching this for various reasons. And the whole "they all #@$#@$ fly" yet the jets bother with transforming at all and the Autobots bother with being cars in the first place. Didn't see if they had the movie on there yet.

Anyway....

Already had the GI Joe series on DVD (plus movie) but I added it to my queue anyway just because it's just so friggin easier to play via Netflix than bother with a DVD player. So far, I think GI Joe withstands the nostalgia test better for me than Transformers does. And re-hearing voice talents I haven't heard in awhile and noticing just how much overlap there is between these two series is always interesting to me.

I've already forgotten about most of you

Season 1 was fun
Second half of Season 2 was better then the first half of Season 2.

I liked most of Season 3 though some of the episodes like Carnage in C-minor were just terrible. But it was nice to see Rodimus try to develop into the new leader until the writers had him break down under the pressure not once, but three times.

1. Dark Awakening: Autobots pursued in space by Decepticons land in the Autobot Mausoleum and are rescued by Optimus Prime. Still showing all his battle damage from the movie and showing signs of mental confusion, yet Rodimus still eagerly rushes to him and gives him back the Matrix. Then he has to suck it up later in the episode and fight undead Optimus

2. Burden Hardest to Bear: now this one I liked. Yeah Rodimus is feeling the pains of leadership but this made more sense then Dark Awakening. In this ep Rodimus is feeling overly stressed and takes off only to lose the matrix due to a Stunticon ambush. He reverts to Hot Rod and refuses to seek out the Matrix and reclaim it. He gets some sage advice from a Sensei and then sees what the Matrix did to Scourge and reclaims it. (likely the Matrix deliberately enhanced Scourge to test Hot Rod/Rodimus)

3. Return of Optimus Prime part 1: Rodimus is still feeling the blues about being leader and is tormented by dreams of Optimus and thinks he is not ever going to be the leader Optimus ever was. (more likely these were warnings from the Matrix that Optimus could still be alive). He comes up with a good plan to get Optimus' body from the crazy scientists but didn't take into account the fact that the daughter of the scientists was sympathetic to the Autobots and thus altered the trap to release the plague. So Rodimus leaves with her and Optimus' body and the plague is now spreading. Instead of seeking a way to fight the plague or realizing that the Matrix carries the answers he instead focuses on having Wreck_Gar diagnosing Optimus and after Wreck-Gar says "He's dead, Jim" (nice!) Rodimus then realizes the Quintessons can revive him again like before. Ah well, at least he was smart enough to shut down Metroplex's brain to make sure that the giant city/robot didn't get hit with the plague before becoming infected himself. Ah well, all plot holes and logic errors can simply resolved by this one mantra "Hasbro wanted Optimus Prime BACK"

I'm not sure GI Joe holds up that well. The other night I watched My Favorite Things and it was somewhat painful to watch. I mean, I still want to get the complete collection box set, but think I might need to take off the rose-colored glasses for it.

I loved The Transformers and G.I. Joe as much as I loved Jem and the Holograms. I had all the toys!

ALL the toys!

Good news! I was bummed out trying to find some decent 80s cartoons for my youngins only to find that Netflix didn't have much.

Apparently, I play "City of Shakespeare"

I think the GI JOE Cartoon and the A_team are tied for censorship.

How many bullets are fired in an average episode of A-team and no one is wounded or killed?

How many LASERS are fired in an episode of GI JOE and no one is killed?

The whole series? I must've missed it. I saw The (not-Real) Ghostbusters series pop up for a bit, but that show was horrible and boy was I ticked off as a kid when the TV Guide tricked me into watching it with its crafty similar-name-ness.

Yeah back a few years ago I was at Best Buy looking for Beast Wars Transformers DVD series.

I found them but then I saw the original Transformers DVDs (all seasons 1-4). My best friend was with me and was like, "get them all!"

So..after hesitating, I got all G1 DVDs and all of the Beast Wars DVDs.

I then called my brother up and was like, "I just got all of the G1 Transformer DVDs, aren't you jealous?!"

Bro: "uh, no."
me: "why not? I thought we enjoyed watching the shows when we were growing up?"
bro: "yeah...but no..."

So I watched all of the G1 series and wow....it was painful. It really was a show to sell toys. Only a few good one-off episodes...the only other good episodes were usually the ones that had a story (ie. it was continued).

Beast Wars = best transformers series I think

My guns have guns! heh....good times.

G1 Season 1 was good, Second half of Season 2 and most of Season 3 were good despite it being a toy commercial

Though Beast Wars was also a toy commercial, it raised the bar rather high in terms of story and of course CGI and is still enjoyable to watch and I still think it's the best.

Beast Machines: great CGI, a bit too much hocus pocus mysticism for a TF show though. That kind of hurt the overall story, imo

TF: RID, Armada, Energon, Cybertron, Bayformers Trilogy = W.W.N.S.O.T

WE WILL NOT SPEAK OF THIS
