80's Cartoons on Netflix!
TF: Prime is a pretty good show. The whole MECH thing is a bit overdone, but come on, it's Spike Spiegel as Starscream! And I think he does the character quite well.
I'm happy about Transformers and GI Joe. My kids are watching He-Man, which I watched thirty years ago when I was their age, often on Netflix. I'm looking forward to showing them some of the other stuff from my youth.
@Joshua.
LOL ya that was always awesome

My City Was Gone
So I watched all of the G1 series and wow....it was painful. It really was a show to sell toys. Only a few good one-off episodes...the only other good episodes were usually the ones that had a story (ie. it was continued).

Another one I was disappointed to see was the Super Mario Bros. 3 show. Even as a kid, I knew the Super Mario Bros Super Show was awful, but I had such fond memories of SMB3. I turned it on for my niece and nephew after talking it up for hours and...well...we just turned it off after 2 episodes.
"I saw my advantage and took it. That's what heroes do." - Homer Simpson.
Speaking of things that haven't stood the test of time.
This will be a flashback for any British people.
Just bought the entire run of Dark Seasons written by Russel T Davies of Dr Who writing fame.
I remember liking it as a kid but watching it back now....ooh has it aged badly, especially due to the fact the first 3 episodes rely on computers from the early 90s, more specifically early 90s laptops...
Mmm love me that cromatic green and black display.
Not to mention the writing, as is usual among British kids shows of the era, is pretty bad, the main character is basically a young Sylvester Mckoy style Dr Who only not as well written (i.e. Obnoxious).
Yeah it just hasn't aged well at all.
Badge Earned: Wing Clipper

A real showstopper!
as the bounty of Netflix streaming continues to grow, my rule of thumb has evolved from OMG I loved that show, MUST WATCH! to Let Sleeping Dogs Lie.
In general, but especially in the case of stuff from my childhood and adolescence. For every show that's still fun, there are ten that leave me shaking my head in disbelieving agony that I could ever like something so awful.

My City Was Gone
I'm just waiting for them to put up TMNT,Silverhawks, and Thundercats *original* on streaming.
Honestly there are tv shows and films that are not on streaming that just makes me scratch my head as to why they aren't on there yet.
....
Beast Machines: great CGI, a bit too much hocus pocus mysticism for a TF show though. That kind of hurt the overall story, imo TF: RID, Armada, Energon, Cybertron, Bayformers Trilogy = W.W.N.S.O.T WE WILL NOT SPEAK OF THIS |
Beast Machines is in the "WE WILL NOT SPEAK OF THIS" category for me

I just hated the whole "you have to be at one with yourself to transform."
Really? REALLY?!? I'm a robot! grr...

As fun as Beast Wars was, the whole thing of them transforming into assorted animals was like "What do get when you combine Micromaster Transformers with upgraded Pretender armor shells?" You get the Maximals and Predacons of the Beast Wars.

Dungeons and Dragons; anytime I see an episode I want to serve that unicorn up on a barbeque and I want to see Ranger punch Cavalier in his face.
The original Masters of the Universe. Some episodes are still good to watch due to the level of story, like the one where Skeletor tricked He-Man into thinking he accidentally killed a bystander in their fight. He-Man returns to Grayskull and I think this was the only time we actually see how he changes back to Adam and then he drops the sword into the abyss.
The 2002 MOTU cartoon is still fun to watch, too bad we never got the third season with Hordak.
I think it and TF: Animated are the only TF series I've cared for past G1. I think I might like TF: Prime if not for the humans in the show.

Farewell is like the end
