Double XP. Did you buy it?

I bought a 4 hour and a 1 hour token just to try them out (I should do something about my credit card debt sometime). I solo'd a brute to 17 in 3 hours and then joined a 'friend', haven't quite used up the 1 hour on my tank yet, he's in the high 20s now. I don't think I'll be buying them in the future unless they went on sale, they may be a nice hook for me if they were in the next Superpacks though.

Not a single one.

This game's way too easy to level in to warrant spending money on. If anything, they need to make it harder to level.

my thoughts exactly, plus we get tons of 25% boosters from super packs

I feel the same way, even going so far as to turn off earning XP during double XP weekends. I love playing the game - no need for me to rush.

Larry: Owen, what the hell did you do to my wife?
Owen: Well I don't want to say on the phone - all I can tell you is that I killed her last night.

I haven't purchased (nor even seen) one yet, but if I deem the price reasonable I may buy them. Double XP weekends are the only time the levelling speed seems tolerable to me, the rest of the time it feels so tediously slow.

I had just rerolled my main (FF/AR->FF/BR) and wanted my bubble again. Bought a 4hr x2EXP and was 32 before it wore by running my own DFB speed runs.

Yeah, I don't really even think these should exist... let alone buy one. To me, it seems like a way to get out of doing 2XP Weekends... why give them away if you can milk the costumer base for the same thing?

That's why they work though... it's classic cash shop 'have eventually' or 'have right now'. VIP's buy points to get stuff even though they'll get 400 next month. Others buy XP packs even though they'll get a x2EXP weekend eventually.

Not a single one either and dont plan on it ever. I have 50+ experienced temp powers still in my email to claim, that plus 20 per alt means that i am almost ALWAYS at patrol xp values.

No, never going to buy one. Indeed, it's easy enough to level.

That said, I hope (for the sake of people who said that) the whole "I turn off XP" or "it should be made harder" is hogwash to look cool on the forums, because I can't possibly understand this reasoning.

If I play 40 hours and end up with 2 level 50 characters, I have experienced just as much content as if I would have played 40 hours and ended up with 1 level 50 character doing the exact same tasks rewarding me for half of the exp, and I also got to enjoy greater diversity in my own characters - which in turn gives each encounter a bit more variety.

About the only argument I could see is if you want to read the stories and are worried about outleveling them, but I don't think you can claim to love the game, period (and insinuate people who don't play like you don't by doing so), if you only enjoy a small part of it. And, if you don't think stories are a small part of CoH, I feel sorry for the time you spent playing a game where 90% of the time is spent punching dudes.

Yes, I bought a 1 hour to test it in AE and with Patrol XP, then bought 2 4 hours. They are expensive, but for me the ability to speed through the 40-50 hump on my latest alt was completely worth it. That said, one thing I don't like about them is that a lot of the benefit is lost if you aren't constantly chewing through content, which makes them far more appealing for AE farming or soloing than team content unless you have a fantastic group. When I burned my 4 hour, I almost never stopped, only training 2 times in 11 levels. However I managed to burn through from 39 - 50 with 30-45 min left to spare (on a single 4 hour, I've got the 2nd banked for another alt).

Quoted for truth. Seriously after playing through to 50 on multiple alts it doesn't take long to figure out the mechanics of playing a given set or combo. And if you have already seen the vast bulk of the content multiple times there comes a point when speeding through to hit the end game and see how everything pans out becomes a good thing. I love playing at the incarnate levels these days whereas I enjoy the lower level content a lot less.

No, I'm not "trying to sound cool". If I wanted to try to sound cool, I probably wouldn't be on a game about dudes in spandex.

I'm talking about how debt is such a joke now, it's not even worth trying to be careful on teams. I'm not saying I want to go back to the days where debt was half a level and if you died twice you deleted the character and rerolled it, I'm saying it just needs to be at a level where players will at least make an attempt to play smart. The way it is now, they might as well just remove it from the game. Half the time, it's actually gone before my character finishes having their heart attack. Which...seriously shouldn't be the case.

The only thing you "have to be careful" with is the incarnate trials now, and only because of the time limits. And even then, debt doesn't matter at that level, so it wouldn't make a big deal then anyway.

I feel absolutely no thrill by risking myself during missions, because there's seriously no risk other than having people lol at you for running ahead and dying like a monster headed brute. Risk should equal reward, and baby, there's nothin but rewards.

Long story short, it's like playing with cheat codes on. Fun for a while, but gets boring pretty fast.

NO. As every one else said it's far to easy to level and you blow past so much content. I actually disable xp at times so I don't out level contacts.

Something witty and profound

This is also another reason why i dont like it. The only time i find it'ld be good is on a TF like an ITF where you are constantly fighting for the hour, otherwise it does just scream of a farming/PL tool.

If you enjoy leveling quickly, that's great, but I personally don't. I'd rather gain power slowly and enjoy each level at a casual pace. Sure I could get multiple characters to 50 in the same time it normally takes me, but then I'd just be stuck with another 50 with no new abilities to look forward to (I'm not much into incarnates).

For whatever reason, I like playing just one or two characters at a time (seems I'm immune to altitis), and if I like those characters, I don't want the ride to end. The only 50 I still play is my main - the others I haven't touched in years, even though I loved leveling those characters. Maybe it's because they seem "finished" to me - I dunno. Anyway, it's not so much the "content" that I'm after - it's experiencing that content with specific characters that I enjoy playing. Although I guess there is Ouroboros, but then why rush to 50 just to go back and do what I could have done while leveling up?

Also, I didn't mean to insinuate anything about people who don't play like I do not loving the game. I'm quite aware that my play style is not the norm, and that's cool. I only meant that I turn XP off during double XP weekends to keep from leveling too fast (and thereby "finishing" the character too soon). And yeah, I still read every arc, though I wouldn't still be playing this game if I didn't enjoy punching hordes of dudes to get the job done.

I saw them and gave it a thought, but realized what some others have mentioned. Between patrol exp and the various means of exp boosting via super packs, there isn't much need for it. I wouldn't give anyone a second thought that buys them though. Different folks, different strokes and all that. Just like I don't care if people PL, farm, manipulate the market, or whatever it is....your dime, your choice.

Don't I know you???

I didnt buy any Double XP ones, but I bought more than a few 50% XP boosters.

Me and a friend were both hung up in the 40s... so being able to boost my XP and give him the bonus temp as well was totally worth the points.

I bought 2 of the 8 hour packs since I am, in general, a slow leveler and tens to solo. I don't necessarily play a lot of arcs for content but there are a few on occasion that I play.

For me it was a worthwhile purchase.

The ITF isn't a power leveling tool? Huh.

To my flabberghastment I did not buy any!

I was going to buy a couple, but due to my anger over staff, and real life events, I forgot to do it...I will buy some when they come back into the market and if they are affordable.

Lisa-Forgot to buy the purple set too...dag nab it

I usually get hung up in late 30s....and yes, i can see it being worth the points...I just wish I had remembered to buy some.

Lisa.

I didn't buy any because I don't like timed rewards. I have a propensity for getting of the computer to have dinner, browse the 'net or watch Ice Road Truckers for an hour or two, and having a four-hour window of opportunity where I'd be missing out if I didn't play disagrees with my stomach. If these were the traditional XP Boosters like what I get out of my veteran rewards, where they slap on Patrol XP which I can make use of whenever I god damn feel like it, I might have, but I didn't see any of those. I didn't exactly search hard, but I didn't see any for sale.

Plus, I get four stacks of 5 traditiona XP boosters for free on every character.
