Next FEW weeks? We have to deal with a broken Umbra Beast for a few more weeks? UGH...

Has it occured to anyone that fixing the problem that caused a massive server crash the other night may have been just a LITTLE more important than making sure one controller's pet works right?

You can't just assume that that fix was a quick one, or that they aren't still working on it. And for the record, the people who fix things like that are the exact same people who do the updating. If they're busy with something else, updates will have to wait.

Just saying.

Right, like they knew about the server crash when they released the broken stuff. Maybe if they would have just not released the broken stuff until it was correct, then they wouldn't be getting the complaints.

On top of that, I seriously doubt that it's the powers team that is fixing whatever went wrong with the servers, so no, it's not the "exact same people" fixing the servers as would be fixing the broken Umbra Beast.

I realize this forum is a hive of fanboys, apologists and butt-kissers, but at least try to make some logical sense while doing it.

I've got to say thanks to Zwill for insight into how Paragon does things, I still think that it is a terrible way to do things, but it is nice to know that its not outright idiocy but a flaw in their methodolgy that causes them to release knowingly broken stuff, and not release the fixes that they already have on beta for several weeks after publishing the broken stuff.

Particularly great for those peeps who bought the set isn't it?

You know... theres been bugs in every patch.

I used to be sick of it, but after the sync bug in issue 12, or 13? forgot.
None of the bugs since actually bother me much

Sure i get tremendously annoyed at friends window popping open when zoning, and the inspiration tray keep moving around my ui. But unlike the sync bug, i can still play the game

So now i'm just... meeh, bugs.

Logic? Nah that would remove them from their comfortable place as fanbois, apologists and butt-kissers.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

The pet AI issue in question is only an issue in the first place if you don't know how to use the game's pet AI. Learn how to use the defensive pet and it will happily do tons of damage, on live, right now. How do I know? Because my controller uses the pet to do tons of damage, on live, right now. Well, technically I'm not playing right now but I assume my meaning is clear.

Sooooo... this boils down to:

1. They released stuff with bugs! = They're going too fast!
2. They haven't fixed it yet! = They're not going fast enough!

Yeah.

Yeah.
3. They withhold releasing things ready to be released for Tuesday market day.

That is what people are not pleased with the most it appears.

Meh, I know how to work the AI to my means, but I'm lazy, so I was incessantly whining because I want them make things easier for me.

I'm . . . surprised folks aren't used to this. I kind of expected that that was the way of things ever since they announced a free to play hybrid model. Nearly EVERY such mmo with such a model does exactly that.

"I'm mad because I don't have my new toy" was not a valid excuse when you were 5, it's not a valid excuse now.

* Bugs can take a while to sort out people.
* Paragon has timelines in which they need to stick to (as stated, if one gets messed with everything else is - domino effect)
* Every game has bugs - least paragon is working to get them sorted. some sooner then others - if your not a dev (guy with much awesome knowledge then you can't complain on how long they get fixed)
* You want to be kept in the loop- have more information available to you? - bug found, bug being fixed..bug still being fixed..still working on bug...lol come on i mean what kind of information you want? when it might be fixed - they can't see into the future now...

Luls @ haters who hate.

Those are not the same thing especially considering Z's response, but thanks for the hyperbole.

I am not aware of companies withholding items finished on BETA for months waiting on that special Tuesday to arrive, but hey I don't play all MMO's. The one's I play don't do this as I stated earlier.

What it (holding Staff til next month) indicates to me is that we've finally exhausted the inventory of backlog they'd been working on leading up to Freedom.

Now we'll start to see just how much/what our money gets us monthly, with the resources they can bring to bear.

I wasn't overly upset over Staff being held back, just really eager to play it!
I can understand 100% from a business stand point why they are doing it this way.

Getting it all laid out by ZWill, how they have so many things actually going on, brings back some perspective for me and renews my faith that they don't see the game going anywhere. Quite the juggling act they are performing, with issues all the way up to 34 planned, next 2 issues already being worked on, weekly updates to the market, behind-the-scenes development peeks (which have to be stressful for them)

All in all, despite some of my disappointments here and there, Paragon Studios is still by and far the most respectable in the biz. I voice my opinions on pricing and such mainly to continue that tradition, hoping to avoid a downward spiral that ends with forgetting how this game was forged.

Issue 22, a week later?

I have an Incarnate ability slotted for the first time ever, without stepping foot in a trial, that is good enough for me! DA's story being excellent is gravy.

Yes they would, they would have had people kvetching about how late the update was instead.

Newsflash, people, life isn't perfect. Freaking. Big. Deal.

I think regardless of when it comes out people will complain about:

How long it's taken
How long it took
The sounds
The animation
The damage output
The endurance costs
The lack of a certain type of damage whether it be ST, PBAoE, or etc
That it doesn't look right while flying
That it doesn't bathe their cat
That it's not open Sunday

etc, etc, etc.
