What a pathetic fail that is...

So, let's review:

Staff Fighting - No

Beast Mastery - No

Converters - No

So very anti-climactic.

I know they'd mentioned (if you knew where to look) that the ATs weren't going to launch today, but still, they seem to have failed to release just about everything I was looking forward to in this update...

Hopefully the new trial will at least be fun, or did that not make it into the release either...

I'll bag on them when they deserve it but Staff Fighting and Beast Mastery weren't issue 22 items, they were a between 22 and 23 items.

But the converters?! YAAAARGGGGHHH!!!! I was testing them like crazy in beta. They were advertised as part of 22.

Perhaps as consolation to some we did get a lot of fixes and the new darkness powersets for doms, controllers, etc. And the changes to stalkers I like.

But no converters? crap on a stick

There was a setting on the beta server which caused them to work correctly in that environment, but not on live, we have identified and resolved the issue, they will appear in the next patch.

My sentiments on i22 exactly. The one thing that got my ears perked up was the knowledge that converters were FINALLY confirmed as launching. Only thing I got my hopes up for-not here. I'm also looking forward to Staff, but I heard the confirmation that wasn't contributing to i22 being any good awhile ago .

For what it's worth I've seen them publish hotfixes for things like this in a matter of a day or two. If the fix for this is really as trivial as Clockwork 01 implies then we might have this fixed before the weekend.

Yeah, that is fair. I posted at the height of my disappointment, so there was a bit more venom in there than was really necessary. I work in the programming field as well, so I understand that things like this can happen. Doesn't make it any less frustrating when I am the one on the other side of the monitor, though!

Let's hope for a quick fix!

Of COURSE there are! When you change code, you make bugs. That's just the way programming works. The best we can hope for is the ones that make it through are minor or can be fixed quickly.

They released the Dark Astoria update with all the new arcs and solo/small team Incarnate rewards, LFG queue that covers all the Trials and TFs and is usable inside missions, and Dark Control. So that's quite a lot of things that *I* was looking forward to, at least.

Well since I had no desire to play with converters - I give Issue 22 a win.

Working on my dark dom now. Next toon I will work on will be my staff scrapper when it comes out

Things we know:

Converters have been in the Live build (in an incomplete form) for some time - after all someone found the UI for it months ago.

The devs don't like things being different between Beta/Test/Live versions. Putting something in for Beta, then removing it from the Live patch risks messing things up.

Regardless of the above, there ARE things that are different between Beta and Live. They guy who sells you Empyreans for 1 Inf - who is suspiciously absent from Live - is a perfect example.

My theory:

The devs have a flag that can be set on various systems. If the flag is set one way, the system is fully enabled. If it's set the other, the system only functions on Beta. Used properly, this flag allows things to accidentally leak from a Beta build to a Live one without a repeat of (for example) the people who bought Titan Weapons over a month early.

Furthermore, I suspect that the flag isn't a toggle that can be turned on or off the way events are; it's probably hard-coded in, so that it can't be accidentally turned on or off on the Live build.

If I'm right, and someone forgot to change a 1 to a 0 (or vice-versa) in the final build, then the converter system would have gon live fully functional with today's build - but turned off. And, if it's turned on and off the way I think it is, the "fix" is a simple change of a few bytes at most. If that's the case, it will likely be corrected on Thursday or Tuesday in a minor patch containing a couple other bug fixes.
