i opened about 27 packs and got the whole costume set within the first 15, i got a total of 13 ATOs but they were from all kinds of ATs, no wolf pet though although i do not really care about it since it is a retarded vanity pet

The removal / replacement connected to the costume parts confuses the odds a bit; as best I can tell with the numbers we have from Beta and the devs, if you open one pack, you have a roughly 1 in 422 chance of getting the Wolf. But your odds of getting it eventually are better than that. If you open "a lot" of packs, specifically enough that you have already gotten all the Very Rare costume parts out of the way (and off the tables), your odds for each subsequent pack improve to about 1 in 243.

So, for discussion purposes, something around 1 in 250 for the Wolf is a convenient approximation. Philosophically, I'm not happy with random-box items that rare, but I'm aware that there are successful MMO games with dramatically rarer items.

To each his own. However, so far today from selling extra ATO's that I don't need, I've made close to 3 1/2 billion inf

And I haven't spent any extra on points. I've had about 9000 since I bought the bundle when it first went F2P. I've used about 2800 points buying two 24-packs today (second pack for the ATO catalysts) and I'm making a profit. Once again, to each his own.

All of the sudden I have an urge to play arc Casino Extortion #4031.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

You're not making a profit unless you are selling the Inf for rmt for more than the packs cost.

You are making good INF out of real money.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So sad to be ending ):

it's funny I let my sub drop because I'm not really playing that much, then drop $45 on packs

I've not spent rmt on these packs, I spent free points I got for subscribing.
My subscription pay's for me to have access to the servers, the free points NCsoft give me for being a VIP is a nice bonus, new content to spend them on is also a nice bonus.

Do the boosters give the items to all characters or only the one you opened the booster on. So if I open a booster and get costume pieces and the pet on Character A; can character B use them too?

Yes. All costume pieces and the pet are account-wide, and every other item you get gets put into your Character Items mail tab, so any of your characters can claim them at any time (although you can only claim each item once, not once per character).

Excellent, then this is something I will invest in.

According to the drop tables posted yesterday, costume pieces are just removed from the table once you own them.

For the sake of comparison, may I draw your attention to a thread on the same topic from a less happy and less lucky customer? (That one was locked, no doubt because it overlapped somehow with this one.)

Bought 12... got all the elemental order pieces except for the pants.

I bought the 24-pack bundle. 13 packs into it, I had the full costume set. No wolf, even after all 24, but that's to be expected and I'm honestly not worried about it anyway.

I also ended up with three catalysts, HUNDREDS of merits, and a pile of random ATOs. Nowhere close to even one complete set of those after all 24 packs, but I'm not too worried since I can trade for what I want or grab them in-game.

One other thing I realized today: the fact that ATOs are available with regular merits but not hero/villain ones suddenly makes rogues/vigilantes a lot more appealing (or maybe just "less unappealing") to me than they were yesterday, from an enhancement-buying standpoint.

FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

I went for the 24 pack too. Got the full Elemental Order set (which looks great on an SoA widow I think). Picked up a bunch of ATIOs, including 6 procs (2 kheld, 2 corr, 1 dom, 1 SoA). But I only had 3 of any single AT, and only 1 brute and 0 scrapper which I would have liked.

And 38 x 25 merits.

No wolf, and no catylists.

The OP definitely got lucky.

I dont want the wolf because I have 3 accounts, and having it on zero or three accounts is fine, but having it on just one or two accounts would kill my soul.

I wonder if I should buy some packs anyway tho, just to sell the ATOs for influence. I am broke in game.

Careful there UP. If you buy some packs anyway just to sell the ATO's you have a very good chance that one or two accounts will wind up with the wolf and you'll spend waaaaaaay more on the other account(s) in order to get the wolf to keep from killing your soul.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

For a couple of years my primary account had a Carnival of Shadows Ring Mistress costume, and my secondary account had nada.

For Halloween I bought both of them the Carnival Harlequin costume. Then I was able to work out a trade with another player for a Knives of Artemis costume for my main account and a Mk-VI Victoria costume for my 2nc account, so now I don't feel sad when playing my 2nd account.

I'm not really into the vanity pets (or the fancy travel powers), haven't bought any of those. But I can understand why a cool pet on only one account would crush your soul.

Let us spend points to get all the HP accolades, Geas and Archmage across our accounts, Arena only and you'll have yourself a bunch of money from my part.

I bought two packs, one each account. Got 5 costume pieces, a Catalyst, a Controller ATIO and various doohickeys including Reward Merits, Expereinced and some inspirations. Not bad but I cannot see myself getting a 24 pack bundle with new powersets coming out soon.

So go ahead, pack lovers! Spend!

I like.

Spend, people spend.

So I'm told there's some way to convert one AT IO into another... did I hear wrong?

I think they should be able to monetize every single part of the game. I'm serious.

As a former junkie of both Magic cards and D&D Miniatures, I have to say, these packs are much, much closer to D&D minis than they are to Magic cards. And I mean that in a good way.

I think the only "error" here - and I totally understand why they did it, but I still think it's a mistake! - is to take away the "secondary market" on some of the 'most desirable' pulls from the packs.

Out of my 24+1 packs, I now have a wolf I'd be perfectly willing to part with, and elemental costume parts I'd love to give away, and did <not> get anywhere near enough ATOs.

With D&D minis, if I end up with too many Orcs and not enough Dragons, I can trade for a dragon with another player. Conversely, if I end up with two dragons, I can receive exorbatant sums for them from other players.

Basically, what I'm saying is, in my opinion, we should be able to sell the stuff in the packs to other players, in Wentworth's. Yes, Inf is worthless, Wents is broken, marketeers are evil - do you want people opening packs and distributing their real-life wealth to the whole playerbase in exchange for pretendy-money, or opening packs and keeping their gains exclusively for themselves?

I don't see what the harm would be to Paragon Studios - they still get paid for every booster opened. This would open up, potentially, even more demand for boosters, from those interested in selling the items for "profit".

Incidentally, the reason Power Packs more like D&D minis than Magic cards?

Everyone buys D&D minis wanting dragons (wolves) and orcs (costume parts). A few people want minotaurs and goblins. And nobody really wants generic knights and flavour-of-the-week monsters. But if you sell them in random boosters, people subsidize the creation of "less popular" minis, because they want to open the "awesome" minis.

The power packs are the same idea. By buying the repackaged not-very-in-demand but easy-to-make stuff like Reward Merits, Unslotters, and Enhancement Boosters in power packs, you subsidize the creation of other, more demanding, items, including more elaborate costumes, more extensive missions and trials, more customization options, etc.

Implicitly, then, things like "power pool customization", which we've been told is more-or-less a coding nightmare, will be funded by selling boosters, which bring in more money than selling the Black Wolf and ATOs separately would have.

And not trivially, opening the boosters is actually a lot of fun. I would have put in the "pulling open celophane wrap" sound effect, though. And maybe trumpets or some other uniquely cool sound effect when you flip over the Very Rare.

Well if Arcanaville's data is correct, which I'm sure it is, the "average" pack contains 2.21 common, 1 uncommon, 1 rare and 0.79 very rare (very large sample size). So uncommon is as common as rare and very rare really isn't.

So a 24-pack would likely give you about 19 very rare, 24 rare, 24 uncommon and 53 common. If you ignore the fact that each costume piece can only be pulled once and then eliminated from the pool, you would pull each very rare costume piece 2.68 times, each rare costume piece 2.88 times, each uncommon costume piece 3.12 times and each common costume piece 5.3 times. So off hand I would say you have a pretty good chance of getting the whole set in 24 packs but random is random.

Sorry I don't have the tools at my fingertips to throw together a monte carlo simulation and have the time to run a large enough set of trials to get a reasonably estimate. I also don't have the statistical aptitude to create the equations to calculate the actual chances. I'm sure we didn't cover this kind of problem (radically altering odds in mid sampling) in the Prob and Stats course I took 30 years ago.
