Honestly, with all the XP boosters in the game nowadays (temp powers, Patrol XP, etc) does a double XP weekend REALLY bring anything to the game anymore?

Again, emphasis on think. I believe that the XP boosters are intended to be "Double XP whenever you want" solution. I'd be a bit surprised if we ever have another.
As a side note, I think that's a good thing. I always hated Double XP Weekends. In my opinion, it brought out the worst in people. The nastiness factor always bumped up the scale a bit because people were always trying to speed run stuff on Double XP Weekends. God forbid, if you did anything that affected their precious XP-per-second stat, you'd get cussed out and/or kicked. If they don't have them any more, I say good riddance.
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.

I think we're more likely to see a huge price cut on XP boosters on the Market for a weekend or something before we see another Dbl XP weekend.
I know I bought 30 of the things during Black Friday... still havent used them all yet.

Personally, I'd rather have a small bonus that I can fit into my playtime when I want it rather than rescheduling my weekend around to take advantage of when the devs decide to have a Double XP Weekend.
Of course... I would not be opposed to doing that DURING a Dbl Xp weekend either. At least to really see how insane the DFB could really become.

There are a lot of benefits for a Double XP weekend that should not be discounted. It's a time where people make a point to show up in game, get together and have a lot of fun.
Especially now with Freedom, it makes a great time for new players to try the game with the lure of being able to quickly get in and level up.
2XP is a morale booster. A pep rally for the game, if you will.
That being said, there are problems presented with Windfall and and XP Boosters. Those are something the devs should look into, because we should keep having 2XP weekends.

So the devs would have to somehow nerf the XP affecting powers from the Market that people paid real money for, and also make a pass over game content to disallow DXP from taking affect in certain areas...
And if they dont... MARTy would probably explode. Or at least the playerbase would when they all start missing rewards.
And you wonder why I think its not likely to happen anymore.
There's also the rotating list of Strike Targets for the TFs and SFs. Granted, you can only get the bonus for them once a week per character, but it's a huge chunk of an EXP bonus (especially when you get to the higher levels).
Maybe they could give Premiums and freebies access to VIP content over a double XP weekend, to give them a taste of what they're missing?
It's almost that time of year, although there is never a set date for Double XP weekend. Any word?
