Double XP Weekend?

This! I want to buy the Patrol XP power so bloody bad, especially for languishing Praetorians.

Touched is pretty accurate for those overly concerned about what other players do in the game they pay to play...yeppers "touched".

DFBabies have Jack pancake to do with the help channel being complete and utter **** now. It would be **** with the existence of Freedom and way freems are channel limited, even if DFB were never in existence.

In all seriousness I agree that if people aren't exploiting (which the DEVS define, not some renta-cop players ) the game no one has jack **** to say about how another person plays the game.

I don't consider DFB runs to be exploitive. And I'm not talking about the people who have been around forever and already played through the other content so many times that it holds no surprises for them. But if you hit level 40 and have to ask how to get to Talos Island (yes, I've seen this) then you need to leave Atlas Park more often. Why is it so terrible for me to want my fellow players to have a richer gaming experience?

The reason I emphasized think so heavily is because I'm being up front. I hazily remember something about the topic, but it's entirely possible that I could be totally wrong. If you knew me better, you'd know that I try to be as up-front to my certainty about various things as possible. If I say, "I am 100% sure about this," you can take it to the bank. If you argue with me, you will be wrong. On the other hand, when I say, "I think--emphasis on think," it means, "take this worth a grain of salt, or at least, don't put much faith in it without some independent verification, because while I believe what I'm about to say to be true, I cannot back it up and would not bet on it."

Yes, it is. For one thing, other people may have heard the same thing and can back me up, thus establishing a level of certainty beyond "I think..." Or the opposite--someone may have heard that they are, in fact, going to have another Double XP Weekend at some point and can correct me. Who knows? Maybe someone read a post that they can link to saying something as specific as, "We haven't had one in a while but at some point we probably will." There you go, "I maybe heard it somewhere" has accomplished something useful--now everyone, including myself--is correctly informed of the current status, and that is a Good Thing™.

This is not without precedent. Several times in the past, I've said, "I think [something]," and been supplied proof to the contrary. I appreciate it when that happens, because I'd rather be corrected than to continue believing something that's factually wrong.

You're reading way too much into it. It meant only what I said. I am representing in good faith that I think I remember hearing a dev or rep somewhere either say or imply that there probably won't be any more Double XP Weekends. I'm not just making it up out of the blue. I can't cite it because I don't remember where or when I heard it, if in fact I am recalling correctly. I am not claiming to have any authority on the matter, I could be totally wrong. That's why I went through such gyrations to convey to people that while I honestly believe this, you shouldn't put a lot of faith in it.

Had I simply stated, "They're not going to have any more Double XP Weekends," then you might be right to be irritated that I make such blanket statements without any kind of source or evidence. As it is, I am honestly trying to clearly convey my uncertainty, not hide or disguise it.

I think the planning for that went something like this:

Zwillinger: Oh hey guys, there's a thread on the forums asking about a Double XP Weekend. It's been a long time since we've had one of those, hasn't it?

2nd Measure: Yep. Maybe we should put one on the schedule. How about *looks at release schedule* March 16?

Beastyle: Okie dokie! *runs off to post an announcement*

And if another game had launced around the middle of December, this would be the time their 3-month subs would be up

Case in point, though I admit that I didn't expect it to be Beastyle...
