What's the one set you will never EVER use again?

Controllers. I have never liked them, and still can't stand them. I think the highest I got one is in the low 40s. I love doms though.
Empathy - my first 50 was emp/rad and I can't imagine doing another one.
Traps for defenders - just doesn't make sense to me. I am thinking about deleting one I have in the 40s. Every time I play him, I feel weak compared to other sets. Traps is great for masterminds and decent for corruptors, but as a defender I just don't feel that Traps is very good compared to the OMGWOW of other defender sets. Defenders are probably my favorite archetype.

Never say never.
That said, I'm very unlikely to ever make an Assault Rifle character -- it's just not my "thing." To a point, I'm starting to feel that way about every single Blaster secondary, too, except Energy Manipulation. That one's just way too much fun. But nowadays, if I want a ranged damage-dealer, corruptor secondaries make that a much more attractive AT to me than blaster.
I wanted -- badly -- to like Kinetics, but every time I've played one, I've found myself more frustrated than entertained. An ally heal that can miss? I'd rather not have one -- at least then when teammates' health runs low I can explain that "this powerset doesn't do that" like I do with Trick Arrows. When I hit a heal, I want it to heal someone, dammit. And the attitude some people cop if you let Speed Boost drop for even a second... the set's just not for me. At all. It's really too bad, too, because Repel is one of the simplest cheap thrills in the game for me, even if it's numerically a "bad power."
No "Dark whatever" powerset is likely to ever hold my interest. Maybe Dark Miasma on the right corruptor, but every time I've tried the set, I just... wasn't sure what I was supposed to be doing with it. I keep thinking, "why does everyone keep talking about how awesome this is?" Plus, again, the heal can miss; Thanks but no thanks. And the melee sets... I guess I'm just not the darkity-dark-dark type.
Oh, and barring major changes in the future, the Presence pool. So much I want to do with it, so little I actually can do with it.
FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

Unlike Corrs and MMs, you can have a Traps defender with ANY epic pool choice while still having:
45% soft cap to everything under the sun or 59% incarnate softcap to ranged with near 45% softcap to Melee/Aoe.
Permahasten on top of the above.
Massive deep debuff numbers from seekers, Caltrops and Acid Mortor.
Al the while not too far behind (and depending on epic taken possibly surpassing) a corrutor in damage when solo.
When something good happens to me, I can never enjoy it....

All weapons sets, Shields. Broadsword , Katana, Titan Weapons, Assault Rifle, Beam Rifle, Axe, Mace etc etc.. This has nothing to do with effectiveness as much as concept reasons. I do not like that my character needs a weapon or is stuck holding a weapon at all times. I rather have superpowers without a weapon so conceptually Super Strength, Dark Melee, Fire Melee , and, if it is ever buffed , Energy Melee all appeal to me
I will never and have never played a support character. Making something like an Empathy is out of the question. All builds have to be totally self-sufficient. An Empathy Defender is more of a woman's archetype.
Hate Blasters too. Way too squishy and no natural mez protection or heal outside of incarnates and one epic pool. Conceptually all or nothing philosophy appeals to me but their damage in this game in my opinion is not great enough to justify them just being all attack and no defense. It still can take a while to kill a boss while that boss can two shot you.
Stone Armor. Too many downsides.
Be well, people of CoH.
Any Stalker primary with less than two AoEs.
Empathy.
Stone Armor.
The Bacon Compels You.
Probably Force Field. FF/Rad was my third 50, and only because i felt obligated to finish hitting 50 since it was one of my first characters. Back before ED, GDN, and IOs FF was great for making a team nearly immortal, but it was agonizing to solo.
Now it's become a little redundant. Few teams need the level of defense buffing it provides, but besides that it doesn't do much reliably that's useful besides shove enemies around, and even that's fairly limited in utility. i'm far, far, far, far more likely to make another Cold, Traps or Sonic user before Force Field.

Merc mastermind. Not because I don't enjoy them, I just have to many. *Laughs*
I'm not...FEELING Peacebringers yet. They just aren't singing to me. They aren't bad, just...off. Maybe I just need more levels.

The beaty of traps on defenders is just exactly how tough and resillient you can become.

Lots of sets to choose from but...I think the set(s) I hate the most is:
Peacebringers
Ugh, HATED leveling that toon up.

It doesn't really take me all that much longer to kill things on my mercs as compared to my other MM's ((And at this point I have at least one of every MM sans the upcoming Beast Master at at least level 32)). I'm just not likely to make another because I have something along the lines of four of them at various levels. But seeing as to how I don't see many if ANY other Mercs now days, I was expecting to see them a lot more in this thread.

Personally, I'll never use Illusion Control again. I like the concept and feel of the set but it just leans too hard on Phantom Army to pull off all the amazing things it's capable of. If you don't have the Recharge necessary to perma PA you just plain can't play the set near it's peak potential.
Wanna play a Peacebringer? Don't believe the hype. Check out my guide and get the real truth:
PEACEBRINGERS SUCK!!! (Now fully up to date for i21+ )
Not a fan of the fire due to the aggro it creates without a heavy AOE DPS that (least for me) doesn't help as the aggro grows. Stalkers were kind of boring, and Peace bringers didn't work well with my personal play style (didn't level it beyond 20 tho)
Didn't like the sonic thing either.

i make stuff...
Super Reflexes. I can't stand the all or nothing aspect of it--it's either stupidly powerful or completely useless. Both my main characters use it, since Willpower wasn't available at either the release of CoH OR CoV, and I would gladly switch either of them to Willpower (or even Energy Aura) if powerset respecs became a thing.
Sets that I've never played that I won't: Kinetic Melee (hate the audio), Fiery Melee (fire is overplayed), most ranged damage sets (though I do like my Dual Pistols/Rad Corruptor and my Rad/Mind Blaster).
Also, I saw someone else say Tankers. Yeah. I'm not a fan, either.

I won't play the most popular combos as a rule. I feel like when people see an Ill/Cold or SS/Fire they don't see a powerset pairing, they see a Ill/Cold or SS/Fire. I do have a Fire/Kin from when I was less good at making money but I hide him away out of a kind of embaressment. I usually play characters who are "one step" off from the more popular path: Ice/Fire Dominator, Psi/Dark Corruptor, Katana/Fire Brute, Mind/Ice Dominator, Mind/Cold Controller, Earth/Time Controller, etc.
That aside, Energy Blast. I HATE this power set beyond reason. Played it twice to 35 or so and deleted the toon (same one with different secondaries) both times.
While I won't say I'll never play Force Field again, my FF/Ice Defender is the lamest character I've ever taken all the way to 50. There's no beating around the bush here: this character sucks. The only thing he is good for is Power Boosting shields and throwing a Ice Rain followed by a single target hold. When my Ice and Electric Controllers started being able to out damage him I knew something was seriously wrong.
Worse pairing I ever made though was a Fire/Sonic Resonance Controller back before AoE shielding. Just putting shields on the team combined with the necessary toggles would cause my end bar to crash. He got abandoned at level 30 something and shipped to the Freedom server. I still have a Sonic Resonance Defender, there because I liked the concept enough. To solo the character has to put his debuff ring on a patron pet. Will never take Sonic Resonance on a character without pets again (or for that matter, pets that need any kind of support, since Sonic isn't very good at even that).
Dark Miasma-- I used to have 7 of these. Its a wonderful set I just played it too much.
Single target Melee and Ranged sets-- Dark Melee, Energy melee, Beam Rifle, Sonic Blast. Just not fun anymore.
When something good happens to me, I can never enjoy it....
