Tights!

New Penny costume is a right step for what we need for new tights.
Keep in mind that tights means also skin tights, not only full body tights and patterns.
Add new plus versions (more basic, just a border seem and detailed cleavage like Witch top) of the more basic tights with skins.

Also I would love to see this or something similar:

Looks very superhero to me.
Nice belt, necklace, boots, top with skin also skirt.
Can we get that?

Would love a pin-up hairstyle, as well as new long hairstyles too.
Also, new hi-res fishnets options.
And a high heel retro folded boots.
Example:

Hi-res version of V low pattern tight skin with detailed cleavage, mask that looks like a cowl with some hair:

I love that outfit and wish they'd put it in game. I ran that arc just to have my character crave it so

I love this belt and the boots.

Although the boots would be far more of a "want now" if they had decent-looking feet instead of the ugly, deformed high heel model all the other new heeled boots use. It would be nice just to have some textures other than "leather" available for the generic old-school thigh-high boots...the ones with the stylized feet instead of the "realistic" ones that are neither realistic or attractive.

don't understand why they don't work off the old high heel model, which is perfectly fine.

More basic pattern options for tights, please. Specifically more designs like the upper body pattern here. Something like Square Top without the loops on the biceps, or Sharp without the "Sharp" pattern on the arms.

And as for texture, how about adding in something like a button over flap option, sort of like this.

And count me in for full masks that stretch over the ears.

And speaking of masks, a white-eyes option would be all sorts of neat too. Like this.

Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.

good luck D.B.B.

Agreed on the white eyes option. The Organic Armor face has /perfect/ glowy eyes that can be colored, but the marks on the face leave it unusable for many concepts.

Again. Any patterns for chest please port to cowls too so chests and masks match.

Im going to go out on a limb here and say that while some not all of the community will appreciate the golden age type tights or costume ideas, but maybe we should look more in depth at tights and costumes on a futuristic level, after all most if not all vip members are playing incarnate level content and since the solo incarnate path is on beta and soon (tm) to be released, i have to say that maybe looking into the gods type of clothing i.e zeus' apparalls, and maybe just maybe, something galactus wears like his skirt sort of clothing and his helmet, after all ,us vip players need to be standing out, looking to help our fellow free players and having these costumes, with in built auras! could be what we need to stand out in the crowd, because we all play this game swapping toons every so often and cranking up the character slots full of 50's, it be nice to just have that one or two characters that are godly that have surpassed all that has come to light.

Infact, it would be an amazing idea simply because we can show off our level of power amongst the community, some costumes can even contain a small fraction of power, i.e again zeus' apparalls can contain a small minor base damage electricity/lightning aura of say 5-10 damage every 3 seconds, but of course this type of thing would have to be rare if not the rarest, and those that have this would show it off in godly fashion.

This has been an idea of mine since ive gotten myself into comic book style games and COH has to be the most in depth ive seen ever!

i opoligise to the OP for the long writing, i just wanted my idea to have some context to it so everyone can understand where im coming from.
i dont expect much from this, just a quick read over.

many thanks for this opportunity.

Costume parts have always been cosmetic, there's no need to start turning them into rare equipment with status for any reason, even to distinguish ourselves.

Back to topic... multicolored masks?

why because you say so?

not EVERYONE will think the same way as you do and i can see how it would make a good gap in the market work as people might want this to happen.

No, because one of the game's strengths is that your costume is completely customizable, and you're not restricted to specific costume pieces if you want specific powers (with the sole exception of the starting Spider/Widow outfits, but even there, the powers don't come from the costume pieces, and you can wear different outfits later without losing your powers).

With your idea, all that goes out the window, replaced by everyone wearing the same costume because they want the bonus. (And, worse, players immediately deciding that other players are second-class citizens because they're not wearing the Oh-So-Special "Look At Me I'm Shiny" Gear)

To paraphrase The Incredibles: If everyone is "special", then nobody is.

(And that's assuming that they would recode the game to allow for it - right now, there's no way to do what you suggest)

On the cosmetic level, there's already special Incarnate-only pieces that you can earn, as well as pieces you can earn for being a long-time vet, so you can already "show off your power" that way.

In any event, this topic is specifically for Golden and Silver-Age style outfits, not for random new costume ideas that would make every high-level character dress exactly the same.

I def want "loose" natural tights a la golden age and/or those overweight alex ross justice league paintings. Loose tights for golden age old school, yo.

Also, how about a version of simple shiny leather boots like the ones we have now, but without that ridiculous boot seam on the back of the boot? And a big thick (tall) metal belt, like the Champion boxing belt but with no championship part. Just something like the back of the champion belt that goes all the way around?

But definately loose tights. Thanks.

i understand that this specific thread was purely for tights only but i felt that if i had wrote this in my own thread somewhere i'll eventually get a bit of grief as i have in the past in my experience on these message boards.
i felt i needed to express an idea that while you can create this already, but maybe as a whole set not seperate parts.

i did expect a bit of hate and you didnt dissapoint.
seems like alot of people get tossed aside these days for speaking their mind.

Thanks for the backup, Thunder Knight. I was aiming to post something along those lines but never managed to find the right words. At any rate, it's that kind of elitist attitude about special equipment which dissuades me from playing certian other MMOs in the first place.

In terms of the current Incarnate themed pieces? I don't easily expect to use them in the near future since they don't fit to any concept that I like to make, and CoH has enough tools in its repertoire for me to make characters that "stand out" with the pieces I *do* use.

Hopefully with the Tights discussion here, and the previous Classic Age thread, that toolbox will grow for me and the (many) other people who lean towards those simpler pieces. Anything beyond that, in my opinion, is extra and secondary.

Hate? There was no hate in his words. He spoke to you in a frank courteous manner without any innuendoes or having you to read between the lines.

This is a discussion board where all ideas, good, bad, or indifferent are discussed. All ideas will face scrutiny from every one. A poster should be prepared for any heat that may come and defend their position within the confines of respectful interaction.

If one cannot stand being called on the carpet in a manner like myself, Thunder Knight or someone else might do. Then said person should reconsider why they interact. That or they should grow thicker skin.

A fundamental, critical selling point of this game from the very beginning has been that our costumes are disconnected from our power except where necessary. We don't have to specifically wear a specific costume to get a specific level or degree of power. Many, if not most MMOs have that sort of functional gear where you have to decide if you want to look a certain way, or look a different way because its more powerful to do so. This game explicitly chooses to not do that.

This is a foundational core of the game that should not be tampered with cavalierly. It simply isn't worth tarnishing one of the most consistently promoted parts of the game by making costumes with power bonuses, when its a major reason why many of the players play the game in the first place. In every single thread that has ever been started on these forums going back seven years, when the question "why do you play" or "what makes this game good" comes up, freedom to choose appearance gets mentioned more than any other single item, every single time.

The risk/reward for doing that even a little seems to me to be far too little reward for far too much risk.

Because the whole point of the game's costume creator is that your costume has nothing to do with your powers, and vice versa.

I'm sure you've seen the propensity for power gaming among the game's population. Introduce costume pieces that give you bonuses for wearing them and the game goes from having a huge variety of character appearances to having a whole lot of people wearing the same costume in different colors. I don't like the Power Rangers enough that I want to see the game turn into them.

Oh good, everyone already said what needed to be said on that matter.

I'll add one more anyway; Costumes have no effect on powers. That's always been the way, and the way it should always be. End the hell of.

Not sure if I'm thinking of the same one, but it *is* possible in (said) certian MMO to lock costume parts so they don't change their appearance when you equip something else, but you still have to deal with statistics.

Still a "no" on my end.

Generally, CoH has the enhancements as the "gear" - a lot of them are actually "equipment", like grenades, flight devices, magic rings and so on - but they're invisible.

Temporary Powers:
http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Temporary_Powers

However, GG was talking about ENHANCEMENTS, the things you socket into your power slots on the management screen. A lot of them are items or physical upgrades/mutations. This allows players to keep unique costumes but still upgrade their "gear".

I was meaning the enhancements for the powers, not the temp powers - all the enhancements have names, and a lot of them are devices or items of some kind.
