Anyone else NEVER lag, never DC, and never crash?

Sorry, random thread here, but I always hear about how the new issue (whichever it is) is causing so many problem. I run Trials/TFs with "so much lag". People DC or crash all the time.

Am I the only one this never happens to? Is it just a quality of vid card/machine issue? I never lag (not in the ITF valley of death, not in trials, not in CoP). I haven't crashed in about 2 years.

I get the occassional problem, but my internet is terrible so I don't blame the game

Crashes are really rare for me, like once per month. Never had lag where lots of people complain like Grandville or Rikt Raids, except in cases where basically everybody complains (lag hill on the ITF, but not anymore, guess they fixed that after I took a break, and special events like one Tanker Tuesday with Zwelington where he put a ton of GMs so, very rare). The trails were never an issue for me.

And that with both my crappy old mac mini and my newish imac, using the windows client (the mac client crashes often like every 2 hours).

I haven't crashed out of City in a long time, but I do lag a little during large encounters like Rikti Raids and dev/OCR visits/events and stuff.

Incidentally, I haven't experienced Lag Valley since they "fixed" it however long ago, even though a number of people still seem to get lag in there.

I don't have a "gaming" PC, but I have a nice enough one. I don't lag in rikti raids. My only "problem" there is that sometimes I have a hard time seeing through all the Destiny's that are cast.

I think about 95% of these crash/lag problems people have with this game are based on the computer they are using to play it, not the game code or servers.

About four months ago I got myself a brand new, top-line computer to replace one that I had been using for around 4 years before. I had noticed with my old computer that over the years the game seemed to get more laggy and crash prone as time went on. At the end it got to the point where I was reliably crashing about every 1.5 or 2 hours of playing.

But as soon as I started using my new computer (again with its bleeding edge GPU, CPU, memory, etc.) I have not seen a crash or period of lagginess at all. Seriously - not one crash since I got my new computer in at least several hundred hours of play.

I think that just about every new Issue introduces a new set of memory leaks and/or graphics changes which puts just a little more strain on a given computer's ability to handle the game. If you're trying to play the game with an older/marginal computer to begin with then you're more likely to have problems than if you're playing on a top-end machine. Not sure there's really any "solution" to this other than keeping yourself ahead of the curve hardware-wise.

I have terrible internet and terrible bandwidth. So if the weather is bad or someone else in the house is streaming a video my ping can goto crap real fast. Other than that nothing in game actually makes me lag.

Since I got my new computer last summer I no longer lag or drop. Before that however I would drop during the itrials but that was about it.

I was having a certain crash issue on and off for quite a long time, which was frustrating as my set up should be handling CoH/V quite easily. I asked around, researched, sacrificied small farm animals, you name it and I still had the crash. Finally a google search lead me to a discussion about Photoshop and a common crash with it and Nvidia cards and a particular setting. The error number was the same, so I thought I'd give it a try and presto-chango have been crash free ever since. Well until there was a driver update that reset that setting and scared me to death, but a quick change back to the setting and everything is fine. My ISP is pretty speedy so I don't have issues there.

The only time I had a crash problem was due to bad ATI drivers.10.11 and 11.5. Otherwise, I have been enjoying a lagfree, no DC and no crash game.

I don't lag, and only very occasionally crash (and only when I open Mids or Sentinel while CoH is already running, but not often).

Lag Valley in the ITF is fixed, fyi.

And no, I don't really crash, lag or DC that often on the iTrials, but it does happen, and more frequently than on regular content.

I'll blame the iTrial lag on my computer, but what I don't understand is the lag in certain maps like the Longbow Base and the new Warehouse rooms. How can most of the game run fine, then slow down into slideshow mode in those areas?

Just reporting in...

I never... EVER... crash. Well, that's not specifically true, but I cannot remember the last time the game actually crashed on me, and I wasn't trying to make it. Namely, by not having enough memory in it and seeing what happened.

I have lag, this is true, but only when it's just *stupid crazy populated* in a zone... and on an occasional server when it's just not keeping up. That's a rarity too these days.

Vox: My guess is they're item intensive, and a lot of...is it occlusions? The stuff that's technically 'in view', but can't be seen because it's behind a wall. That still has to be 'drawn', then 'undrawn'. I'm guessing that's it.

Aside from problems that I have with my ISP, I get no lag or DC's in game.

That said, my ISP is a wireless ISP going from an antenna on my roof to a receiver on the water tower in town. The ISP's equipment there is, how do I put this nicely, less than optimal. I frequently lose internet completely for a few minutes so when I'm having problems in game I'm also seeing dropped packets in pings to the ISP gateway. I can't blame those on the game.

I have had a few incidents when others reported having a lot of LCMS messages and I realize it's not isolated to me, but at the same time some others report no problems so I generally assume that it's due to a common point in the routing that is causing it.

As far as the game crashing? Well, I can't remember the last time it actually crashed on my desktop or laptop. I've had it crash on some computers I was using CoH as a stress test on, but that was due to hardware failures on the computer, which is what I was testing for.

I'll get a small amount of recharge slowdown for really large events like Dev invasions on WarWalkers or similar, Hami Raids (yes, I'm unteamed on those) or Rikti Ship Raids (again, playing unteamed) but that's about it. Since I don't team I don't have any experience lately on any content that requires teaming.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Since issue 20 or 21, I don't exactly recall when it started, I've been running into intermittent instances where the game starts running like its in virtual molasses for 10-30 secs. It does it in the game, during character creation, and even at the character select screen.

I also occasionally start up the game and it won't let me past login, insisting that I have to enter an account name and password as if the fields are empty. I have to exit the game and restart it in order to fix the problem. This issue definitely didn't start til Freedom went live.

I used to see really horrid lag during Mothership raids and in iTrials, particularly 24-player trials, to the point where I'd click a power and would have to wait around 10 seconds for it to activate. That was months ago; these days even in 24-player trials I don't see lag anywhere near that bad.

As for crashing, it happens once in a blue moon, and I can't remember the last time I DC'd. So I got that going for me, which is nice.

never is a strong word.
But i very seldom lag, crash or dc. it usually comes in periods with a new patch or so.

I have had the occasional crash, but rarely enough that I would say "almost never". The only time it happened consistently for me it was a problem of my video card dying (fan stopped, so it would overheat often).
As for lag... only times I can really remember were cases of definite server-side lag. Old-school Hamidon, that one mission in the ITF, the BAF... all of which have been fixed by now.

I lag quite a bit but that's a case of my computer being above min requirements but below recommended requirements. Trials, Atlas Park and Preatoria are the worst offenders for me.

Once in a while I'll crash while loading, it seems to happen only on specific maps but it hasn't happened in a while.

and my connection is fairly unstable these last few months. Sometimes the cable modem resets multiple times an hour, other times it doesn't reset for days or weeks at a time.

Only time I have lagged or crashed is when zoning, and that is due to intermittent issues with my ISP, not the game.

I'm sure that's part of it, but I'm still not sure why the tech lab map runs smoothly but the Longbow base (which is just a re-skin of the same map) is so bad.

Almost never have problems here. Last problems I had were driver related, not COH related (AMD.)

If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.

This was me 100% about four years back. These days, not so much. Time to get a new puter... if only these dental bills would quit popping up!

I'm one of those players that rarely crashed, although there were periods in the past when I did crash more often, they tended to not last long. Most of the crashes I did have I could trace to running out of heap memory or something similar.

When I upgraded to a system with 4 gigs of RAM, those crashes essentially vanished. And now that I run on Win7 x64 and I have 16 gigs of RAM, I never crash, period, unless I do something really bizarre that kills my entire PC, not just the game client.

I d/c due to internet outages far more often than the game client itself crashes. Lag, on the other hand, is something no one can fully escape in every zone. But I don't lag much unless I'm doing stupidly large workloads in the background, and I just purchased a Vertex 3 to solve most of that problem.
