what mistake do you keep making?

I never slot my attacks for END reduction until I have to crawl though a level or two running out of END halfway through the fight.

although last night I discovered that was because Freakshow now drain END. But still it was painful.

I keep trying to play Stone Armor toons. Then I get to level ten and fall asleep.

I'm pretty sure Freakshow have always drained endurance, at least the one with electric attacks.

Forgetting to turn off Sprint in combat. I do this all the time on non-flying characters, and it's just a waste of End.

That and hoarding inspirations. Yeah, that small orange is going to be SO useful that I should keep it forever. Then I get annoyed that I've run out of the good ones, like End and Defense, with a tray full of orange, yellow and red.

Yeah, I do that a lot

especially in tunnel missions with long runs between fights

Despite counselling, shock therapy and a guy named Moose standing behind me with a rancid-cottage-cheese-filled whiffle bat I STILL inspiration horde.

"Yeah.. I can win this battle... I don't need to use those large purples, yellows and reds... heck it's ONLY a boss... ... ... crud... well... at least I have three to combine into a wakie..."

The other SINspiration I commit on a regular basis is the old "Break free inspirations are a waste of a slot in my inventory" prejudice. This is probably because I run mostly melee types who have a toggle to protect against mezz. Unfortunately for my blasters, etc. my dislike of keeping that inspiration carries over.

....

I kind of do that with inspirations (I do hoard them though...and organize them!) but thing I do the most (especially notice it now with my StJ/Regen brute) is using "godmode" type of powers and then die 1-2 seconds later because I should have used it earlier.

Like using Moment of Glory or Instant Healing when I should have used it before I started the fight....still wish there was some sort of code that says, "you just used MoG (enter any "uber mode power" here) but died within 5 seconds; that power is now automatically recharged."

I don't know of any mistakes I make. I'm fracking perfect, in game, anyway.

I'm just now starting to get over my Inspiration hoarding habits. Playing a Fire/Fire Brute that I'm having a blast with but struggling with endurance, so I've started getting in the habit of popping inspirations to keep spots clear for potential endurance drops. But, hoarding inspirations is still my single biggest problem.

I keep rolling Stalkers because I like them in the lower levels but I never get to past 30 and have only one at 50, I get sick in the process.

I also rolled a defender once [/trollface]

I'm bad about leaving Super Jump on during combat. I have it bound to my mouse so it's not on my trays. All the other travels powers, I can easily see still on...

I just got over my inspiration hoarding last year, thanks to the CEBR thread. Well, that and the addition of Nurses et al.

I'm still bad about forgetting to switch channels in chat. So I'll be in team chatting away, then switch to Help to answer a question, then go back to chatting away to the team... in Help...

The first time I tried Afterburner, the skies opened up, rainbows appeared, and a heavenly choir could be heard singing the Hallelujah Chorus. Well, in my own head, anyway (Which might tell you something about the state of my head, but we won't go there just now).

I don't love it for the extra speed, that's just a happy coincidence to my way of thinking. I love it for the control. I am actually peeved every time I log onto a flying character who hasn't respecc'd into it yet. It "feels" like a really fast hover - I have that much control.

So, naturally, I tend to leave my new best friend Afterburner on, then wonder why I'm blasting or punching away, and my foe remains in perfect health. And I do this EACH AND EVERY time I am in a mission and turn the thing on to cover some long stretch.

Yeah... Wedding Band could, in principle, last beyond my natural lifetime given how often I use it, but only if I ever remembered to turn it off when the fight was over.

heh.. this thread sounds like the making of a few Steelclaw lists.

The first one would be: Inspirations Anonymous' 12 Step program.

I think my "joining bad PUGs" list has already been done.. many times in varous forms (mainly, all the bad pug threads).

Trying to play Blasters, though thankfully, that's a mistake I stopped making after six years. Trying to argue about Blaster improvements to a chorus of "I solo my Blaster at +4x8 in record time, you just suck!" comes in at a close second to this.

Trying to get into the Incarnate game, forgetting that it's raiding for the sake of raiding and just one or two raids won't do much and won't give me anything I have a use for outside of raiding anyway. We'll see if that lasts.

Making new characters and whole factions and then not playing them (at all) because I keep meaning to and keep getting sidetracked. I'll get to them, eventually.

Joining Task Forces advertised with horrible spelling, grammar and questions not ending on question marks. I figure... Who cares how the leader spells, it's a Task Force. It should be fun. An hour later, I leave pissed off and disappointed because we I spent half the time sitting on my hands waiting for someone to stealth every ******* mission and the other half being ordered around like a servant.

Posting stuff in the Roleplaying forum. The last time I got a response to anything I've posted there was around 2007, I believe. It's fun to post stories for the sake of sharing, but being met with about 20 views and 0 responses kind of blunts that.

Playing Architect arcs off the search tool. Invariably, it's an arc that's unfinished, has been broken by changes and never fixed, is poorly written or is "comedy." Unless people specifically and directly recommend I run things they have made, themselves, I don't bother. Well, and unless people ask me to playtest their arcs. That used to happen at the dawn of the Architect.

Forgetting to play my Masterminds. I overplay my Masterminds and burn out, leaving with a feeling of reluctance that carries on for years, making it so I just never log them in. And when I do, they're amazingtastic, and I kick myself for not having played them in years.

Playing other MMOs. It seems to me that if these are either WoW clones, Korean grindfest MMOs or some variety of "MOAB" crap (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) with a handful of maps and PvP as its only focus. Even the relatively good ones are loaded down with all the "standard MMO crap" designed to waste my time and work on getting me addicted. City of Heroes is the only MMO that doesn't make me feel like the developers hate my guts.

I still have mine available to use on my main, with soemthing like 50minutes of time left...

Not bad for 6 (coming up to 7) years of character life!

There are two main mistakes I just can't seem to get over:

1) Switching from Super Jump to Combat Jumping when I enter a mission, then wondering a few minutes in why my endurance is dropping so fast.

2) Hoarding inspirations. Earlier MMO's had driven into me the idea that consumables are expensive and/or fairly rare. i KNOW this isn't the case in CoH, but I just can't break the habit of holding on to them until I 'really need them.'
