Personally, I like this pic. It caught me off-guard when I got it in the mail just because it has nothing to do with City of Heroes, but eh. The game can use more pics like that. It looks like a playboy trace? Possibly. I see nothing wrong with that. The more naughty stuff we can slip into a T for Teen game, the better as far as I'm concerned.

Besides, having a sexy green lady is a step up from just having a sexy lady, as far as I'm concerned. At least that's different.

True, but saying "assless" is so much more salacious!

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

I can honestly not tell if z is joking anymore.

That said, i like the pic, it doesnt really strike me as sexy, closer to an anime cute drawing really. the mouth seems disproportionate, but beyond that, im not getting sexy. And i agree with ten, the robe should have a gold trim in game to, it looks better than the dark green on light green.

Here's the thing, from where I'm sitting: We just recently got done with a thread about gender parity in costume design and the representation of women in the game, but "prudishness" isn't what I thought we were asking for in it. I was one of the people "outraged" at the... "Unfair" costume allocation, but like many others, it wasn't what women got and how they were represented that bothered me, but rather what they DIDN'T get and how they WEREN'T represented that did. What they got isn't bad nor immoral.

I actually have a particular problem with people crying "porn" on pics of real or fictional women posing sexy. When we were talking about the animal pack, I posted a pic of a literal cow girl, and got at least one poster to scream "POOORN!!!" at me because she was sitting with her arms up over her head. At some point, I feel that we're being far too sensitive. We have "Suggestive Themes" right there in our rating banderole. That IS consistent with T for Teen, and I see nothing morally questionable about it.

Moreover, this speaks to me of people associating sexuality with pornography in a way that I can't imagine is very healthy. A girl posing, a girl in a skimpy outfit or a girl with large breasts is not something to be ashamed of or something to hide your children from. It is not, most of all, immoral, at least not from where I'm standing.

Whole thread is another demonstration (as if we need one) of Poe's Law.

Wowsa. Look at all that leg showing!

But that's nothing compared to the drawn version:

From Paragon Studio's email advertising the Holiday Pack.

So, what's being sold in this pic? Look, just like the Give Gift emote, she's giving a present. Only thing is, she's presenting like a baboon in estrus. And she's offering a box. A box by her crotch. A crotch that seems to imply she's not wearing anything over her crotch. Did I mention a *box* by her *crotch*? You know that looks nothing like the Give Gift emote, right?

I expect such a graphic on the cover of Playboy. I've had a less revealing pic removed from the forums for not being "T for Teen."

There's enjoying the beauty of the human form (even if green) and then there's overt sexual pandering. This is the latter. I'd rather have seen this elf nude in just the gloves and boots frolicking in the snow and throwing a snowball then... *this* pose.

I mean, what was even the thought here: That you would get sales by sexualizing fur-lined clothing? Is there a big market for that fetish? "Oh, yeah, jus' like Mrs. Cluas, baby!"

And when you were selling the Gunslinger Pack, where was the drawing of the shirtless cowboy in what appeared to be assless chaps? Oh, that wouldn't have been appropriate? Hmmm....

Yeah, I know, this thread will be full of those saying, "The comic book industry panders to cheap sex all the time." My response, "Yes, but Paragon Studios doesn't have to also."
*raises brow* Not sure if serious.....

I had not heard of that law before but I had been painfully aware of the reality the law reflects and as you say all the threads we have demonstrating it.

As for the cartoon elf, I did find myself wondering initially if they were cross referencing another NC Soft game instead of City of Heroes.

total kick to the gut

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.

I miss the Apex/War Witch comics. I liked their 'working class' hero stories and lifestyle a lot more than the Freedom Phalanx comics.

I liked both series - they each had a role to play in showing the game world - one did the smaller scale stuff, and one did the bigger scale stuff.

Eh, I thought the Apex/War Witch comics were terrible and they put to much of the game world into what could have been an awesome comic book universe based off the game.

Without the game world, it's not really City of Heores

Of course it is. Freedom Phalanx, CoH heroe/villains.

I don't want to read "Let me grab some enhancements, oh and some inspirations, oh and look, I took out these Hellions, and now some new ones just respawned in their place, Ill be here all day!"

That makes for some of the worst comic book universe writing

Apex showing up under Atlas Park statue and yelling "Lvl 14 Scrapper looking for team" ruined that comic so much more for me.

/em sarcasm

Yes, I picture characters with badges and enhancements all over them

/em endsarcasm

There's game mechanics and then there's making an interresting story. Adding in game mechanics ruins the story.

Unfortunately America has a very... Victorian attitude towards sex. I have to say, I'm amazed that the miniskirt ever made it here, considering the American attitude over sex. Paradoxically, American culture doesn't seem to mind oodles and oodles of blood and gore splattering the walls. It's peculiar when violence is considered more acceptable than sex.

It's older than Victorian... it's a Puritanical outlook.

Violence was openly accepted as a religious practice ("convert or kill the heathens!") from a Puritanical - and older - perspective. Sex was kept behind closed doors. Titillation is a guilty pleasure, so sex sells even while people publicly protest the evils of it and preach about how children shouldn't be exposed and people shouldn't flaunt their bodies.

Note that I'm not saying that it should be that way.
