An incredibly sad day...

I have not been looking forward to seeing this post :-( I have been playing for over 5 years now and have seen plenty of people come and go but it hurts to know one of the best will never be back to play again. I didn't have a close relationship with DC but every time I teamed with him it was always a great experience. He will be missed by many.

I hope DC finds peace and I wish the best to his mother and family

I don't know DC. But I do sympathize with all of you who do. My sincere best wishes to DC and his family. I don't know what else to say about that.

But I do I have to say this: I'm with Jennifer-Anne Lulipop. Whether or not DC can hear, or read, it, tell him anyway.

/Imma fix my motorcycle this weekend, I hope, and get on it on Christmas Day. Been too long... again.

From across the servers, send DC a *hug* from me.

DC never sought out the limelight or wanted to be seen as a leader but that is exactly how many of us viewed him.

He always impressed me with his knowledge of the game as well as the way he strove to get every last badge possible. While he and I did not always see eye to eye, he has always had my respect and will always be in my mind Victory's "Tank" others may play the AT but I don't think anyone could ever replace "DC".

DC and his family will be in my thoughts and prayers in this very sad time.

Damn. I'm very sad to hear this news. I felt like DC and I had a lot in common, even though I haven't known him all that long. But he was one of the most level-headed people I've met in game, and anywhere, actually. He will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I don't even know what to say -- I've known DC since I discovered the Victory Badge community almost 7 years ago, and it was clear from the start that he is a class act. A quiet, humble guy, the posts above me are testimony to how universally respected and loved he is by the community, and it's well-deserved.

I feel for DC's family and everyone who loves him. He will be in my thoughts now and every single time I earn a badge from now on.

Admittedly, I didn't know DC that well...I think I teamed with him perhaps once or twice, but he was fun to work with. A rather interesting sense of humour, from what I remember.

But to hear that he's been admitted to a Hospice....

Damn shame that the Community is going to lose a valued member like this.

I'll light a candle for him, and have a drink in his honour when the time comes.

Damn shame.

Pass along my sympathies as well, please. DC was a great player, and the game will be less without him.

DC, I am so sorry that you and your family are having to go through this. I've had to deal with this around the holidays myself and know how harder that makes it for everyone involved. Over the 7 years that I have played COH, I believe we've talked and probably played at some time. Godspeed.

/salute DC

Godspeed, sir.

I'm not sure I have any words to add other than...

See you in the next go around DC... You were a good teammate and fun to hang out with on Ventrillo. You knew your builds and you were willing to help out those who asked. I will miss you... but I'm planning on taking Aim at level 56 so... watch out.

Please give my best wishes to DC. I didn't know him as I never played on Victory but from what I read he seems like a great player, and I dislike seeing a server loose a great player. you're in my thoughts DC and his family and friends. Just know your journey is just starting don't loose hope and don't be scared maybe we will meet sometime on the other side

A sad day indeed.

I won't say I know DC well but I have known him a long time. For a time I teamed with him regularly in Isolators and a couple of other weekly SGs. We clashed a few times over the years but it was more this grumpy old man wishing the grumpy old man hiding out in the kids body would lighten up. He always impressed me with his knowledge of the game and his willingness to share that knowledge ( In 2 or 3 chat channels while he was playing - dunno how he managed that..).

Then there were the endless Borea missions he would run during double xp weekends and his drive to get the last influence badge before the dev's changed the requirements to a lesser value. He is the only person outside of Satanic Hamster that actually seems to like the shard.. Crazy, but that is DC and his addiction to badging.

Having lost my father to lymphoma just over a year ago, I have some small inkling of what DC has gone through and I definitely know what his family has dealt with. He and his loved ones have my sympathies and I wish them the best in these trying times.

Best wishes to him, his family and friends. Victory suffers the loss of one of the best.

I'd heard of DC when I started playing, from different players, then when I joined to forums, I'd see his posts. The last year I have had the pleasure of grouping with him from time to time, and what everyone says about him is true. It is very sad to hear something tragic like this, and it fills my heart with sadness for his family. I pray for their strength to maintain during this, and I pray for his recovery however unlikely it might be. Miracles happen after all.

Damn shame, DC was always willing to team and do things with people.

And that's why we were in the Shard, Flux. BECAUSE IT'S THERE.

I cannot go into this in as much eloquence and familiarity as others, as I only knew DC a bit through Victory Badges. However, I do know that he was a player of vast knowledge and considerable skill. The game could use more like him. He will be missed.

I'm dismayed to hear this, and as I said to MP, I don't know what to say. I've had bad personal news this December and past December as well: it's being far too much of a dark month lately.

I live just down the road from a hospice. It's in a beautiful location, peaceful. What you want at that time. I hope DC has the same.

DC was never super talkative with me, but he's the solid type of guy you always want around. I know he liked Stargate SG-1, so I think it's more than safe to say he was like Teal'c to me. He knew what was up and was willing to help others, and I love that he kept Hami raiding with us even up until a couple of weeks ago. Such pillars of strength are always missed when they are gone, and surely this thread shows this his avatar title will not be a misnomer (though I pray that he has much, much longer to be with us).

God be with DC and his family. He's a good bud and a great team mate...even though he had the most hideous costume.

I've been in and out of this game for too long, so I don't know DC well, but I still offer my sincerest condolences to everyone affect by this lose. Best wishes to him and his family and friends.
