An incredibly sad day...
Sorry to hear of DC, been a while since I have talked to him and didn't realize his situation. I have always had a good time joking and hanging out with him in the game and wish I would have gotten to know him better.
MP - Thanks for going and seeing him, sharing his mom's request to let us know, and taking all our well wishes, thoughts, memories, and all around love for DC to him in his time of need.
Anything that i can help with, please let me know.
Chris - "Tusk"
I give DC and his family my best, Godspeed buddy.
Don't mess with Texas!

MP just sent me an IM letting me know what was going on. All too often we have sorrows we suffer alone. This is one that we could share and this is a group that will miss you DC and all that you have done.
It has been a while since we have been on vent together.

As I sit here reading everyone's posts, I think of the times DC and I ....ahhhh how shall I say this?...interacted! lol He and I both have very strong personalities so they clashed...oh boy did we clash! lol
Does anyone remember the times DC quit and I quit the VB channel because we got so pissed at each other? lmao!!
It never mattered how angry I was at him, I always looked up to him for blue side badge info. He was the go-to man for info. No matter how pissed he was at me, he always answered my badge questions.
DC.....I'm crying like a little baby because I'm going to miss you like hell. I hope you are not in pain and at peace. I hope you have no regrets as you leave this plane to travel home. I love you.
As Blitz said, I always teamed using Fireball Angel. As I do not have a tank, she will remain offline until we meet in PD to celebrate DC.
Peace Dude!

I just heard of this through VB and Viv on Facebook and wanted to give my best wishes and appreciation to DC and his family. He brought a lot of help to our server and thus made the game that much more enjoyable for everyone even while fighting this terrible ordeal. You can't really ask for much more than that of someone fighting the good fight. Thank you, DC.
I just got home. Very exhausted after two flights and layover and all that. I'll post more tomorrow. Just want to thank everyone again for all their posts, emails, and PMs.
I promised DC that I would do a special hami raid on his birthday to celebrate his life and his presence on Victory. He squeezed my hand a bit when I told him about it, so I am sure he approves I'll make a separate thread about it when the time comes (next month).
Thank you all so much for your thoughts, kind words, and just for being an awesome community.

Jacob (DC) passed away today about 20 minutes ago. He was surrounded by his family. He was only 22 years old, his birthday would have been next month.
I will always keep him my heart. He was like the little brother that I never biologically had. I am devastated by this loss of a true friend. I am glad he is free from pain and I pray that he is looking down on us now and is pleased to see us remembering him.
Jake would have told me to smile and to be happy. He would have said not to cry for him, but to do something fun and to live life the best way possible. On this Christmas Eve, please be merry with your family and friends. Try not to sweat the small things. Try to be as happy and healthy as you can. And remember to love with your whole heart.
I will miss him so much. Thank you again for all of the kind words and support, his family is extremely touched by it.

While I never knew Jacob, I certainly know several people who are feeling this loss. I'm very sorry to hear he has passed. His family and friends are in my thoughts.

Rest in peace, DC.
I'm very saddened to learn this. Part of why I love this game is the community and DC was very much a part of this wonderful community. He will be sorely missed and very much in my thoughts and prayers. God speed.

fraaack MP! I am being selfish when I say my first thoughts were not of DC but of you and his family. This is time for those (un)lucky that are left on this plane.
DC's suffering is over. Yours, his family's and his friends has begun.
May you, and all those affected by this, remember grieving is okay. Get happy, cry and even get pissed. No matter what, he will always love you and you, him.
I also thought you not hesitating and going to him, was the best for YOU. No regrets, baby...your time now...remember him as you want.
I love ya, MP....mmmmmwah!

There is no "answer" to the riddle of grief. But there is such a thing as community
and the knowledge of those who have experienced its blessings that even if one
person, alone, cannot hold up under the crushing weight of loss, the heaviest burden
can be lifted, or at least lightened when it is shared.

DC - You will be missed and remembered ... always.
I reactivated my VIP status just to post on this..
DC was one of my best friends on CoH. Like others have said, he would always go out of his way to help you out, no matter how daunting or boring a task. He was actually one of the first people I met in the game and first SG's I joined, Outsiders of Paragon. Because of his warmness, I'm still playing this game 7 years later, and made a bunch of new friends in the process.
I'm going to miss him a lot. I really am.
Actions speak louder than Vets.
I wasn't going to post considering I never really knew DC; just some casual run ins through the course of our playing the same game for certain similar periods of time over the past few years.
I mostly knew/remember him from the heal farm days; I also remember when, as a casual newbie learning the ropes, I would randomly throw out a question I was curious about in VB and more often than not DC was the one that provided the helpful, quick reply to my question. I was also talking my sister over the holidays about the sad news and she mentioned how he helped her farm for the Disruptor badge in a PvP zone in order take part in heal farms. Two things struck me about this; I believe DC wasn't fond of PvP and was still willing to help her out despite not knowing her particularly well either, and as a counter point I didn't help my sister get that particular badge.
I just thought I would add my two bits in and say how I think it is incredibly sad anybody should have to battle like he had to at such a young age, and I believe the community lost a real leader.
Wash: "I've been under fire before. Well ... I've been in a fire. Actually, I was fired. I can handle myself."
My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
I didn't know DC, but reading of his passing, and at such a young age, really made me sad. I have a 22 year old son, and I couldn't imagine life without him.
I'd like to make a donation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in DC's honor. MP, if you could PM me Jacob's last name for the donation I'd appreciate it.
Gris and I will miss DC!!! He was a great guy and lots of fun to have on LRSFs!!! City of will not be the same without him!!!
Dear everyone,
I want to thank you so much for your posts, emails, and PMs. I printed all of them out that were finished by the time I left and brought them with me. I read them to DC and gave them to his mother. I also read any new posts to them from my iPad. It is really awesome that so many people have voiced support, concern, and shared stories. Thank you.
DC was mostly unresponsive while I was reading, but I knew he could hear me. His mother would like to thank all of you very much for your kind words. This is an area of his life (he's 22) that she did not know much about, so filling in the details has helped her a lot. She truly appreciates all of the prayers and thoughts being sent there way.
I will be back to visit him tomorrow morning and then will begin the trip home around 4pm. I will post more when I return home. This has been possibly the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, but I am so glad I did it.
With love and gratitude,
MP
