Player Summit Q&A

Basically if they do changes they will be hefty, and almost no one there PvPd but some would if there were changes.

Questions about the game, either side? /t @Neuronia or @Neuronium, with your queries!
168760: A Death in the Gish. 3 missions, 1-14. Easy to solo.

I don't buy it.

They're perfectionists about PVP...but they won't change the system nor will they listen to player feedback?

Face it. This game is just a glorified BETA for CoH2 (coming Q1 2013). All the devs are doing is squeezing as much money as they can out of the playerbase in the mean time.

They know PvP is messed up, they want to fix it in a big way, but they won't waste the time on it.

Nothing new here.

Is there really plans for a CoH2? That sounds like a bad idea.

That's honestly one of the best responses to the PvP question I've seen in a long time, it may or may not lead to anything anytime soon, and I'm not counting on it, but at least it reveals a little bit more about their outlook on PvP... I'm glad to see that so many people in that summit raised their hands when asked if they would do PvP if it was improved.

@TheKatalyst
My **** is bleeding.

I saw the hands go up. I'd say about 15% said they currently pvp'd , and maybe 60-70% said they try if things were improved. I don't know if it was with my mechanic idea, but I like to think so. :-)

There's not. They registered the domain to prevent someone from claim jumping it, but they know historically sequel MMOs (EQ2, FF14) do terribly so there's been no real effort put forward. Knowing there's only one kick at the can is a big part of why they're putting a push on updating this old clunker.

Ignore what the people who pay $15 per month to post on these forums tell you. There are plans for a CoH2.

Perfect! That's when my current sub runs out! ( ' :

Until that happens, it would be kind of nice to see another test server opened up and dedicated to the devs futzing with PvP.

I hope you're right. There's a lot of problems with CoX that could be resolved with a new game engine.

(Then again they'd probably just use the MMO engine that's being used currently in pretty much every new game. That would suck.)

Given how badly every other sequel has tanked I'm pretty confident in my assessment. Maybe if Guild Wars 2 does exceptionally well they'll take the plunge.

Either way if the rule is to ignore people who pay 15 bucks per month to post on forums neither of us are to be believed so we just won't know until it's announced.

Nah I meant the people who pay their subscription seemingly JUST so they can post on the forums, accrue a high post count, and somehow backwards rationalise that they're informed about the game.

And I do know. Because I got connections yo.

I've played off and on since the game came out and I've never seen someone specifically reference their post count as evidence that they know what they're talking about.

Ignore what Xanatos has to say 90% of the time and you should be fine.

You are the reason Dark Armor sucks so yeah you've got connections. I hate you still.

I thought I read a while back when the Marvel MMO got scrapped, that Paragon was turning it into coh2?

Actually, that was when Cryptic still ran things. It ended up being CO. Ouch.

Anyways, we've heard this before. "How many would like it if we did this?" Then a lot of positive response from people that didn't care. That's how we got i13.

"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict

Actually not

No, that is exactly the story of how CO came to be.

For evidence I present Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_Universe_Online

There might well be a CoH2, it just won't be MUO. I don't have any idea if a sequel would be successful, but if it could work I think it would be a nice opportunity to ditch the apparently very limited engine that seems to rule out 3/4 of all possible ideas.

Edit: Of course, it could just be a pervasive myth that has made its way into Wikipedia, as well as to the community of Champions itself as I saw in the time I was over there, but that's still considerably more evidence and reasoning than has so far been provided to the contrary.

I get that you guys are trying to be helpful. But just -don't- disagree with me on this. Thx.

Rollback I13 changes. Disable Incarnates. Go from there.

Won't happen, won't happen aaaaaand.... won't happen.

Many of us will be leaving soon. If you enjoy PvP there's a few MMOs on the horizon you may want to check out. I'd recommend the MMO I PvP in competitively, but the learning curve can be daunting for most and my Corp isn't recruiting.

I fundamentally disagree with you on everything. Even if you're right (which I've never seen happen), I still disagree with you, because:

A) if you do have some sort of knowledge that this is in development (and CoH2 has been rumored since about the time City of Villains launched in 2005), then that means you or the person who told you broke a non-disclosure agreement. Corporations take NDAs pretty seriously, and the fact that this thread still exists means that their lawyers aren't out to destroy you, which means that you're wrong.

B) you're just so damn smug every time you put your fingers on the keyboard to write a post, and you never have anything that isn't seething with negativity to say about the game or the development team. I'm convinced you are a member of that group you seem to hate--the people who pay their $15/mo just so they can post on the forums and complain and add "lol" to threads. .. which you just did in the previous post.

As such, I'll take your advice and "Ignore what the people who pay $15 per month to post on these forums tell you." Consider it done.
