How do you delete your 50s?

I mean bring yourself to do it. I have a level 50 kin/sonic def that I love the name and costumes on but just cant get enough use out of using kin def. All they do is buff buff buff. Anyways I would like to reroll as a brute or scrapper or tank but cant bring myself to delete. I do have 3 transfers left and could park it on another server. But right now the slot is locked. Does it have to be unlocked to delete? If so I might transfer, but since I dont play it that might be a waste of a transfer. Another thing is I have no idea what recipes/enhancements/other goodies might on the toon. Ugh. Suggestions?

I had a similar case a while back. I had a level 50 Earth/Storm Controller that I decided to re-roll as an Earth/Fire Dominator. For me it wasn't a huge deal, I didn't enjoy playing the Controller but did still like the character concept so deleting and rerolling was the sensible option. Once the decision was made I took a few days to clear out anything valuable on him (such as converting his Alignment merits to useful recipes and mailing his inf to other characters) and deleted him.

I can't. I invested too much time to delete any of the 4 50s I have... but I'll say that the 4 are split between 3 servers. When I get my fifth, that'll be 3 on one server, and one on each of two others. So there's that.

And if I never play them again, I still won't kill them. I'm too proud.

I've never deleted a 50, even my very first character, who I retired years ago due to frustrations with the archetype and powers, is still around.

Of course, I have two servers with all 48 slots unlocked, so... that was kind of an investment... and a testament to my potentially unhealthy feelings on this game, but, hey, no one here can judge me, at least. XD

I just checked on my secondary Prem account and confirmed that you can delete a character that is on a locked slot. The slot remains locked once deleted.

Now I personally wouldn't delete a 50 until it was unlocked and I had the chance to strip it of all useful items.

Eh I click delete and type in the name without any real issue other than making sure I looted their IO's first.

I do find it hard to delete my 1st 50. No matter how much EM sucks since the changes to ET and TF he just sits on the shelf hoping for some changes 2-3 years down the road much like /FA got this past year.

I've deleted about 70 lvl 50s. Many of which were fully IO'd and fully accoladed. Basically if a toon doesn't live up to my every expectation, it gets deleted, and if a toon can't keep up with the effectiveness of my other toons, it gets deleted.

To put it in perspective my lowest dps toon is a fire/time corr. Yes, a fire blast corr is my lowest dps toon. I've actually been pretty close to deleting it cause of the lack of dps compared to my fire/kin or fire/cold. Obviously anything that had lower dps than a fire/time corr wouldn't interest me either.

However the way I play is in no way similar to how most other people play, Kin/Sonic is awesome, I'd say roll a new toon first and play it to 50, and if you still like it more then go from there. Considering transfering rather than deleting is also a good idea.

Never deleted 50 even if I have stop playing it. Never deleted alt over level 15 even if I don't like it. We got free server transfers with GR that I have used to move them to French or German server.
Then I've got 5 server transfers when they were on discount when Freedom started + 1 free each month, that is enough to move 50's to servers I don't play on (much more choice now since list merged) and even to bring them back if I change my mind and decide to give them another chance.

I've pushed a level 50 fire/kin onto another server. I won't be playing her anymore (I don't like FotM chars and I never really cared for Controllers). Other than that I also deleted a level 50 Brute who was just taking up space because I had a better version of her as a Scrapper I liked more. I've deleted a few 40+ chars besides, and more 30+ chars. Just recently rerolled a 34 Scrapper as StJ.

I have enough space now I wouldn't need to delete anything anytime soon, but I have a couple 40+ Brutes I could easily part with. One's a 50 SS/WP I never play because I don't like Rage.

I guess for me it boils down to how much fun I have with a given character and how much time I've played it regardless of how "effective" it is. If I PL'd a 50 in a couple of days then I probably wouldn't have much trouble deleting it but at this point I couldn't imagine deleting some of my other 50s that I've had for years even if I consider them "retired".

So I guess for me the older the character the -less- likely I am to delete it.

I delete stuff because either I don't like the performance or the playstyle of that toon because it doesn't match my particular playstyle. Or, I simply don't play that toon much anymore and I moved on to a new idea. The toon I haven't deleted that I do not play anymore is my badging toons.

Incarnate powers may of cured my altitis, because I just get burned out, getting shards and threads. I need a new plan if I'm going have alts keep up with my main toons in terms of incarnate powers.

Fortunately, I have never gotten a toon that I did not really like all the way to 50. But I have deleted some 40's and recently had to strip 2 level 50's on a secondary account that is going premium and will not have IO access.

I used the following checklist to do the clean outs.

Roll off all AE Tickets. email or sell results.
Repeat for Regular merits.
Repeat for Hero / Villian merits.
Repeat for Incarnate currencies. Not much you can do here, but you could get some stuff like emotes I would guess. You can move shards to a different toon.
Claim a respec and strip high value IO's. Repeat if needed and you have enough vet specs. Email, sell or store.
Clean out salvage and your vault storage, sell or email.
Check left overs of process at the Auction House / Black market. I usually try to give everything a week to sell, then either relist at 1 or vendor. Email the last bit of inf.

That is about it. It may surprise you how much the total inf, etc. comes to. Stripping that 2nd accout generate about 500 million not counting the recovered uniques. Still it is a drag to do and preping the 2nd account to go premium was more like work than fun.

If you're F2P or Premium I could possibly see why you might want to delete a level 50. However, if you're VIP, and you still have open slots on the server you want to make new characters on, why would you delete a level 50 character?

I don't. Anything I dislike enough that I would want to delete it never makes it to 50. I assiduously level things to 50 without the benefit of PLs, mostly solo, so I learn fairly early on if it's going to be something I like.

I've had a few characters get hammered by game changes. I either adapt them to where I enjoy them again, or I shelf them. If I enjoyed them before I don't delete them, but hope for eventual revisits by the devs to help me enjoy them again. (Energy Melee is the prime example of that for me, too.)

I think the highest level character I've deleted was a Rad/Rad Defender at level 22. That was a long time ago - I deleted him to make more room for new villain characters after CoV came out.

If I've invested the time and effort into getting a character above 35 (much less 50) then I'm not going to axe them. I do have a couple of high level toons that I haven't touched in 4 years but I've moved them to other servers to wait on either my interest to change or, in the case of the 50 Stone/EM tanker, for power changes to make them fun to play again.

By the time I've taken a character to 50 I've anywhere from 80-250 hours invested in them... and I wouldn't have gotten them past 30 if I didn't enjoy the character at the time. Things change, friends may want to run something where "X" character is the best fit and, of course, the game changes and suddenly something becomes fun again. I don't PL my characters to 50 in 10 hours; I actually play them up the long way.

As an example earlier this week I dug out an old Kin/Rad defender who had been sitting unplayed at level 35 for over 700 days. A respec to bring her up to current conditions and I'm having fun with the character and have leveled her up to 38 over the last couple nights. If I'd deleted her then I'd have had to start fresh at level 1 if I had an urge to play that set again.

Have about 30 level 50 toons and never deleted a 50. If a toon makes it to 50 with me, it is there to stay. The journey there bonds them to me.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

i only delete a 50 when its met a few conditions:

A). i do not get much use out of it anymore
B). is inferior to other toons that i dont use it anymore
C). is using duplicate powerset before we got more options and thus rerolled it

examples of toons i have deleted:

emp/psi defender - deleted because i did not enjoy playing it, pitiful dmg and pain domination came out for redside

ill/storm - was too end intensive for my tastes and rerolled him to ill/cold who is now one of my fav toons

AR/dark - deleted because he used a bunch of duplicate powersets, i already had an AR/traps and my main was ninja/dark so i just deleted him

i think there were a few more that i cant remember atm

as what forbin said i always strip my toons down of all inf, IOs, ect before deleting

I've got several 50's including a few I don't play anymore, but I've never
deleted a 50 and don't plan to delete any.

I typically don't PL them, so they've usually got more than 100 hours in them,
and for that time investment, they've earned the character slot they're taking.

That's true even for the one L50 I really hate, although he was the closest
of all of them to ending up in the bit-bucket.

Instead, he's permanently retired unless I suffer a bout of masochism and grab
some iStuff for him in the hope that it would make it more enjoyable... Not
too likely (on either the masochism or enjoyment fronts).

I haven't yet. They just get exiled to Freedom. Spent too long playing with them, they're a part of me as much as I'm a part of all my characters.

Highest I've managed to kill was a 37 AR/Kin, and a 37 Stone/Axe. Tanker was re-rolled with a Shield, is now 50, and a blast. But, yeah, I respec/strip all my toons prior to deletion.
