I played it on Beta, and it was far more enjoyable than its predecessor. I hope to get a run in on Live in the next week or so, and I expect to see them forming up far more often.
On a related note, I saw a full UG trial league shove off last night. Guess the enhanced rewards are also going to lead to that trial being run more often.

I was on a couple last night- Definitely a better Trial- the Orbital Blasts were almost funny (429 pts damage on my Tank.. REALLY fellas?) and The reduced Terminal count really made it zip by.
My only... complaint is I got the uncommon table both times- when I really needed a Rare and VR. I must run a bunch more to see if the "increased chance for a R/VR" is borked or not...

i ran it on victory last night too and it was definitely more enjoyable than before, my regen can actually keep up with the pulse now and it the phases being slightly shorter make it less repetitive

Seriously, devs, you hit the ball out of the park with this one. No more wasted hour and a half dying at the hands of a green death pulse.

That was me leading that league (on Emerald Thunder). For the record, the majority of those who had a voiced opinion in that league agreed with me -- you and maybe one other person were the only ones happy with it.
I have to say, after running the original, the new pulse is so much smaller it's almost ignorable on my characters. However, my L50 characters tend to have good (if not excellent) HP regen, even if that's not a specialty of their powersets.
That's not a complaint. I was amazed at how reduced it was, but not disconcerted. The pulse was still something I had to pay some attention to in fights, whereas before it was frequently deadly to be hit with it in a fight if you didn't pay very close attention to its timing relative to your HP.
I always thought the temp power / terminal phase was the most tedious and unexciting part of the trial. Now that part is a lot shorter. I still dislike the AV battle's over reliance on gimmicky effects for its challenge, but the change to Disintegration does help. The AV fight remains a challenge for PuG leagues - one I went on last night breezed well through the collection phases but had a touch-and-go battle with the AV.
Does anyone know if dying while being disintegrated heals AM, even if you didn't die to the disintegration itself? Last night I had disintegration put on me, then AM immediately melted my face with Cosmic Burst. It looked like that healed him, which is kind of obnoxious if true. Although it sounds totally like the way a player would use their powers, heh.

i would monitor it though in case getting killed while you have disintegration but not from the disintegration itself and see if it actually heals him like 10-15% hp
Yeah, it was a bigger jump than a regen tick, and I don't think anything else heals him (does it?). That's what made me think that might be what happened. I'll do some digging around.
Edit: Well, here's some actual info on the power.
Disintegrated
Anti-Matter's disintegration power will heal him if you die while under its effect.
That does read like it would do what I thought happened. He grants you a temp power that affects foes with a 25% (flat rate) heal. Presumably it's triggered when you die. I can't see anything I know how to interpret that way, but I don't know of any example powers a character could be given that says "do this when a particular effect defeats you."
Edit2: Hah! I always compared Anti-Matter's Atomic Blast to Nova Fist. Little did I know. Here's the description of Atomic Blast...

I might actually try it now... I dont like grinding the trials, maybe do one or two a month, if someone asks me, and it only took one time through the original for me to write it off

Now to give you some perspective on why such a change was proposed in the first place, we simply were not seeing enough people completing the newer developed content for the system. Players seemed to be content in running BAFs and Lambdas to the exclusion of everything else. Our metrics don't tell us why this is the case, but you the players have spoken about it. The first two trials are more fun and take a shorter time to complete than Keyes or Underground. Even by increasing the number of Emp Merits the longer Trials give, it still did not spur the playerbase as a whole into running that content.

Meanwhile in the rest of the game, even after the changes, even on otherwise busy servers people are still having to beg to fill Keyes leagues. I know I'm still not running it; that much I can state with a certainty. It was just that. freaking. bad. Bad enough to where I never want to see it again!

The next 2 Trials will also be quite popular - especially MoM - that can be done in less than 30 minutes, and gives the league several chances to regroup without a timer.

I still believe people like Vice_Virtuoso are missing the point as to why the Devs decided to fix the Keyes trial. The original version of Keyes was not impossible and/or too hard to finish. I managed to complete many Keyes runs even with purely PUG groups over the last few months before the change. The REAL problem with the original version of Keyes was that for the vast majority of players it was simply way too tedious and annoying to play, especially for any kind of squishy AT. The "challenges" provided by the original Keyes didn't really stop many people from being able to actually finish the trial - they just made slogging through it far more of an arduous chore than most any other trial out there.
The changes we got to Keyes technically did not make it all that much easier to finish. Instead it just made the overall experience less annoying to deal with. If that equates to encouraging more people to give it a try then I'm all for that kind of improvement.
