Mark Hamill announces No More Joker

Mind you, it's not the first time. Dude's like Michael Jordan with his Joker voice.

No more Joker, but arkham Asylum was too good to pass up...
No more Joker, but DCUO needed that voice to make you feel like you're in the DCU
No more Joker, but Arkham City needs continuity!
No more Joker, ...

Said he wasn't going to do the new game, they convinced him, but I figured it'd be his last.

I dunno... I really hate to be cynical, but as a coworker once said to me, it seems a bit like "I'm not doing the Joker anymore... at this price". If they throw big gobs of money at him, and have a suitably interesting story, I see him coming back.

At least, I hope so. He is Joker for me now, just like I cringed when I heard the voice from Batman: Year One, because it wasn't Kevin Conroy.

We'll always have The Trickster.

'I don't like the look of it at all,' said the King: 'however, it may kiss my hand if it likes.'
'I'd rather not,' the Cat remarked.
'Don't be impertinent,' said the King, 'and don't look at me like that!' He got behind Alice as he spoke.
'A cat may look at a king,' said Alice.

He'll be back. Mark Hamill without Arkham is just Mmill, and no one likes that guy. Or something.

Goodbye may seem forever
Farewell is like the end
But in my heart's the memory
And there you'll always be

At this point I'm pretty sure that if they wanted to they could just use tech to take what they have of his voice and synth it... that is if his concern is his voice like what i have heard before.

He also played Trickster in the JLU (or was it just JL?) cartoon. "Got me again, Flash!", one of my favorite lines in the series.

That's one of my favourite single episodes in JLU (mostly because Orions superiority complex is challenged in more than one way)

Whenever actors like Hamill say things like "I'm not going to do something I've been doing for years anymore" I pretty much always read that as an overly dramatic way of saying "I'm not going to do that AS MUCH as I used to anymore". I mean it's not like he has to work 40 hours a week to do what he does voice acting wise regardless.

As much as I hate to be devil's advocate, but do we really need The Joker in the next Batman: Arkham Whatever game?

Don't get me wrong, I love Mark Hamill's interpretation of the character and he really is my number one choice for being Mr. J, but I'd kinda like the character to be rested for a bit... :P

I don't view Hamill's interpretation as definitive. I think it's really good, perhaps one of if not the best, but his performance doesn't define Joker...

I would actually say that Sting(the wrestler) is closer to a Definitive Joker with his insane icon character that is in between Nicholson's and Ledger's

stings been doing that for like just over a month now...marks been doing it for over a decade.

turn off the wrestling.

I believe he's said it before.

But they can find a facsimile. Whoever does Harley Quinn in Arkahm City is close enough to Arleen Sorkin that it works out just fine (even if she is slightly higher-pitched, which I didn't think possible).

Thanks for eight fun years, Paragon.

Good interview here where he admits that he's said it before but "they wouldn't take 'no' for an answer." They also told him they might get a sound-alike and he'd have to explain to fans why he didn't want to do it.

It's so easy to be cynical and negative. I would like to take his comments at face value when he says he just wanted to leave the character on a high note. I can understand that. If I had been doing something for years and years, I would like to be remembered for doing it well and not for doing it until I sucked at it.

Higher pitched and too Joisey.

I'm sure I'll get over it, but it was kind of jarring in that first scene with Harley.

Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!

Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.
