It wouldn't really need to be a preexisting relationship. She could've been found by the people from <REDACTED> and taken to <REDACTED>, whether before or after being zombied. The distance between the various locales can't be that great.

It would allow for a much more antagonistic relationship between Rick's group and <REDACTED> and set the stage for more confrontation.

Don't forget Morgan from episode one.
Morgan's plight does get solved. Not till like volume 12 or 13 of the comics. It takes a while and is one of those, "Whatever happened to him?" things at the back of Rick's mind, but he's got a lot of other things to worry about.

There's also the Mexican(?) family that took off during the first season. Though I doubt we'll ever see them again.

The fundamental difference between those examples (Morgan and the Morales family) and Merle and Sophia are that Merle and Sophia were both at least borderline core characters of the main group of characters of the show. There was no "mystery" as to what happened to both Morgan and the Morales because they both chose to do their own thing away from the main group. Sure we can wonder what happened to them, but there was no "mystery" involved with it.

I was just making the point that with Merle we already had a "mysterious departure" from the main group. I've basically considered it kind of silly they've apparently decided to play that same plot twist card again with Sophia so far. Plot twists used multiple times usually end up being cheesy.

There may end up being some resolution there. There was in the comics.

Ok, I usually avoid spoilers, but you people are driving me crazy with the redacted this, and the speculation that.

Would someone mind sending me a PM to explain what you're talking about? Thanks!

Thanks for the PM, Dark One.

Exactly, I'm saying I wouldn't put it past them to dangle some plot items (perhaps like Sophia) for longer than a normal TV audience would expect

I hope not. That plot line has run its course. It's time to resolve it and move on before they start annoying the audience.

Too late for that, I'm afraid.

Also, looks like next Sunday we may actually get something interesting at the farm for a change.

Yeah I don't have any problem with a TV show like this trying things that TV audiences don't normally expect. But in this case (like Frosty_Femme implied) their attempt to focus in on this "Lost Sophia" thing has slowed the momentum of the story down so much that's it's almost become tedious. I think in retrospect they'll realize they spent an episode or two too long on this part of the story.

I think it's almost guaranteed the story is going to have to (no pun intended) lurch forward next episode. Now that we know Hershel is keeping a flock of zombies in his barn there's no realistic way Rick and company are going to be "OK" with that. Either they'll argue/fight Hershel over that to try to get rid of them or they'll just end up leaving the farm regardless.

What did happen to Morgan and his little boy? Someone send me a pm please.

They are trying to emulate Lost by making the second season tediously slow and uninteresting. One episode of plot stretched out into 5 or more episodes.

Now that was a good episode. Very little of the Sophia drama and some pretty big divergences from the comics. Methinks Dale is going to meet with a little...accident...at some point.

I do not understanding wasting good food on Walkers. Even if you think they can recover, it's pretty clear they don't starve in any sense that we understand.

Good episode, and Dale has made a big mistake.

See, it makes sense in the context that Herschel is an idiot. He's unwilling to accept that the people with bits falling off are nothing more than lepers just waiting to get better. He's in extreme denial because his wife and stepson are in the barn. He can't accept the fact that his former loved ones now want to nom on some tasty brains.

He probably also thinks he's being compassionate and a martyr in feeding them, since it means less food for the ones not in the barn.

(Sidenote: They at least mentioned Lacey. In case anyone's wondering, that was the name of one of Maggie's sisters in the comics.)

I've figured out what the walkers eat to survive when there is nothing living to eat. They eat books.

Look at the facts. The group has repeatedly gone into houses, stores, schools, and they have searched tons of vehicles. And yet they only have one book to read and it isn't a very good one.

Walkers have eaten all the other books and magazines.

Counterargument:

It is Georgia.

(Yes, yes, I know, horribly stereotypical.)

I'm guessing Sophia is dead at the traffic jam. She returned, saw the sign they left saying to wait there, at up all the food they left, and starved because they haven't hone back to check there! I mean they could at least mention checking back there even if they don't want to waste screen time actually showing that they do...

I actually thought it was a good episode because many of the "brewing secrets" were finally revealed to key people, but it still sort of amazes me they managed to drag the Sophia arc on yet -another- episode. I really thought this would've been the episode they finally make some definite progress on that.

Well at least we saw how Maggie was probably "convinced" of the error of thinking the Walkers are still people after Glenn saved her. I suspect she's going to be pivotal during the confrontation with Hershel because she'll now question his decision to keep them penned up in the barn. It'll be interesting to see if her feelings for Glenn will be enough for her to effectively turn against her father on this.

Yeah it was horribly stereotypical when you consider it was Daryl (the supposed "backward Georgia redneck") who was the one who was -reading- the book in this episode.

I take it that Rick still wants to trust and believe in both Lori and Shane because he still loves them both. That's why he wants to believe Lori and Shane only did what they did because they genuinely believed he was dead. But Rick is not a stupid man and he'll eventually have to get "mad" about it one way or another.

I'm quite sure Rick will confront Shane fairly directly, and given that Shane and Dale butted heads too I suspect there's going to have to be a general confrontation about it. I honestly don't think Shane's long for the group - one way or the other he's leaving the group.

Yeah they might have mentioned somebody going out to make the "daily check" at some point, but I only consider this to be a minor plot oversight.

I agree with Herschel being in some serious denial. Even if a cure is found what effect could it possibly have on decomposition?

It's hard enough to accept when a loved one is suddenly killed but it'd probably be even harder to accept that death if that loved one was still sort of shuffling around apparently "almost" alive. *shrugs*

I feel sorry for Hershel because he's (at the very least) going to have his tragic denial broken by Rick or, more than likely, going to be outright killed by his irrational belief that the Walkers are cureable.

Even Darryl makes the joke that it didn't have any pictures, so no, I don't feel bad about making the Georgia joke.

Which made me like Daryl even more. He's quickly becoming a favorite character, even though he didn't have much to do this past episode.

And you'd think that Dale, being as old as he is, would learn to shut his mouth occasionally. I can understand why Glenn felt the need to tell his secrets; he has got two huge ones that could impact the group. However, Dale is apparently a meddler; he took what he knew, and decided he knew what was best for those involved. In regular times, those kind of people get ostracized; what happens to them in post-zombie world?

I find your lack of signature disturbing.
