A peak of Titan Weapons in action...
Yes, there's more than one way to skin a cat, as they say. I'm going to try a big stick this time around. Honestly been waiting for the two-handed weapon concept since Issue 0, it fit the original RP character's concept better.
I don't really claim to represent much of anyone. Most of the people who care that Tankers got screwed out of their role, out of Fury, and were made into farm equipment left. They either defected to Brutes when they came blue side or gave up on Tankers period.
That's just common sense. |
You have the right to want whatever you want, but to characterize what you want as somehow caring more is something I actually find insulting. Most of those people aren't around any more to defend themselves and what they wanted, but that doesn't mean there aren't people around that still remember that players who cared about the archetype existed before you came along, will exist long after you depart, and wanted what tankers are, not what you insist they are supposed to be.

In one little corner of the universe, there's nothing more irritating than a misfile...
(Please support the best webcomic about a cosmic universal realignment by impaired angelic interference resulting in identity crisis angst. Or I release the pigmy water thieves.)
Since before you joined the game, the people that care about Tankers worked to improve their aggro holding role. While I'm sure there were some people who felt like you do, your self-proclimation that they are the true tanker advocates is wholly fictional. In fact, until about I2 it was essentially *impossible* for any significant number of players to feel as you do, for the simple reason that the information necessary to begin to make such an assessment and the analysis tools necessary to frame the position simply didn't exist in a way accessible to players. By the time it did and in a form generally accepted, we were already arguing the I5-I6 changes which were *again* focused less on your offense issues and more on tanker defensive issues.

For the record I want tankers being able to soak up more damage, which is the point of the AT. Being a meatshield. Anyone who wants something that can do more damage has other ATs.

Honestly, I'm looking forward to the set, but not for the Giant Sword aspect.
I'm really hoping things like that Railroad crossing sign - and other such objects - are in the set.
You see, while it is a great set to play, I've always felt that Super Strength didn't exactly convey 'Super Strength' so much as 'I Punch Things Really Good!'
Someone swinging around a Streetsign/Lamp Post/Small Tree/etc, might finally give me that feeling of Super Strength that I've been missing.
(...note to self... if the devs do include a Stop Sign as a Titan Weapon... resist the urge to make a green-skinned zombie clown with it...)

I am thrilled that they are adding new sets to the game, and it is obvious that Titan Weapons has a rather large following. But that set just looks... BLEH is the nicest thing I can say about it. I can not envision ever playing one for any reason. But that is why I like CoH, because I do not need to like it, lots and lots of other people will, and I will lose nothing by not playing it, and will gain a LOT by having more of my friends happy with the set. And there is much to be said about expanded choices.
Keep up the good work devs.
Now, about Staff Melee..... Bring it on
on second thought, can we have a motorcycle on a girder so i can make a tiny Titan/Stone Brute named Triassik?

Zkorva the Exiled (50) , Squallshot Maiyamin, Aether Crash, Vhogge the Skyshaper
Villains: Katsuo Tentei (50), Lumilian Dhosan, The Cobalt Tempest, Executioner Adan
I'm digging the sword, a little outrageous but I too would like to see what other skins will be available both through the customization menu at level 1 and from particular badges like Overseer and what not.

I think they look pretty close. I think you're a victim of an optical illusion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vertica...ontal_illusion |
What I'm suffering from the most is probably poor memory, as I honestly remembered the Buster Sword being longer. Or, possibly, I hadn't seen the swords in relation to a character, I'm not sure. However, I hold by my desire for a longer-bladed weapon. So what if it's already long enough to spear through people three rows deep. I want a sword that reaches the full 7 feet of my melee range
Actually, it turns out I DO have a few reference pics, courtesy of bAss_Ackwards and Misie from Vanguard Titanic Weapons thread:
Check out those weapons, and, hell, go ahead and give the thread a look, too. There are other good designs there. However, notice the proportions of those swords - they have a very long blade, much longer than it is wide, and a hilt just long enough to accommodate two hands. Granted, the hilt itself could probably stand to be somewhat longer with that grip, I don't deny it, but the length of the blade is what I'm mostly looking at, and the blades on both are LONG.
They don't necessarily have to be Vanguard weapons, but those are the proportions I want to see.

You know, as a super-big fan of Kinetic Melee.... I wouldn't be opposed to trading power siphon for momentum.. maybe.. possibly.

I'll miss you all.
Honestly, I'm really excited about Titan Weapons based on the few previews we've had so far. My one concern is that the power descriptions from in-game that we have seem to indicate primarily smashing damage, not lethal as we might expect of a sword. Or, given a sword of this weight, maybe a combination of smashing and lethal would make the most sense. I realize that the railroad crossing sign should do smashing damage. Is it possible the damage type is switchable? Or set at creation?

Also, I've received PMs from rednames about not allowing these pictures on the boards. So, I guess I have to play the messenger again. Thanks for the awesome pictures, I personally appreciate them a great deal, they're also not allowed to be posted.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.
I don't know what that Rularuu Stave of Epic Pounding is, but I love it.

Considering the powerset has been said to be released soon, I can't help wondering why the Devs'd prefer those pictures to remain hidden?

Per the PM, and I'm paraphrasing, it's because the magazine has exclusive rights to be the distributor of that content. If we want to see the images, we're supposed to buy the magazine. There's no problem reproducing those images elsewhere, it just can't be done on the main boards.

If you had a full 8 man team with titan weapon, there would be no room for mobs.
And I thought a 8 man MM team would be bad.
Too many 50's to list here's a few you may know.
Slazenger, Area51, Area53, Area54, Erruption, Mind Plague, Thresher, Sheath, Broadside, Debt

While I shall endeavour to unsee these pics for the good of us all, they concern me. Let's see what we have so far that we know of:
1. Buster sword (sword)
2. Big wooden sword with smaller swords stuck through it (club)
3. Railroad crossing sign (club)
4. Rularuu mace (club)
5. Chaoseater sword (sword)
6. Weird blob on a stick (club)
Without counting the railroad crossing sign twice, that's six weapons, which is probably more than Dual Pistols had when it launched. At best, I expect to see about two or three more weapons, but my concern is this:
A) There are no tech-looking weapons. I'm not even talking about Vanguard or "energy" weapons. I'm talking about anything which at least looks like it IS technology, rather than that it was MADE by technology, but is just a heavy chunk. That's... A pretty big concern, because we have, by my count, at least three fantasy-looking weapons. I hope we see a tech/energy Titan Weapon by the time this goes Live. Something glowing would be nice.
B) There is not a single symmetrical weapon. Not a single one. I get that a weapon like Katana might get all asymmetrical options since a katana is traditionally curved back and single-edge, but "Titan Weapons" are subject to no such preconceptions, and I see no reason why we can't get a weapon that has a nice centre line and is symmetrical on both sides of it. I hope we see one of these before the set goes live. Having the symmetrical weapon also be the tech weapon is perfectly acceptable.
C) There are very few sword weapons, only two out of six that we've seen, and considering this set can also work with hammers, axes and club-like weapons, I suspect what we haven't seen are variants for these. I sincerely hope we see at least one more sword - preferably one that looks more like a sword, just very big - before the set goes live.
Now, if I could dream for a moment, I would LOVE for Titan Weapons to launch with, like, 20 weapon options, all colour tintable. I'm sure that among this many, I'll find at least one or two to fall in love with. However, having seen what happened - and is STILL happening - with Dual Pistols... Well, I'm reserving judgement, put it like this. However, to make it absolutely clear how important it is for me to find the right weapon model, let me say this - if the set launched with ONE weapon in it, and I had to pay an extra 400 Paragon Points for 20 more weapons, I would do this in a heartbeat. In fact, I'm FAR more interested in what weapons the set will have access to than what the set will actually do and how it will work. I'd buy Titan Weapons as a clone of Broadsword if it had enough cool weapons in it.

Forget the weapon, I just want those candelabra available as base items.
In fact I would like a lot of that mansion decor available to base-builders. Including but not limited to jack-o-lanterns.
Oh well, one can dream
