A peak of Titan Weapons in action...
I'd like to apologise unreservedly to anyone who was incensed by my less than positive assessment of the above mentioned epic new powerset. When I first heard talk of titan weapons I imagined all sorts of options that could fall under this heading, bloody big swords just wasnt one of them.
To be fair I guess I should have expanded the "I don't understand why the devs would bother to waste time on these." part. It's a melee weapons set, maybe I'm missing a trick here but I'm assuming it's going to act very like BS except with a bigger sword. While waste and time perhaps was too strong it doesn't feel different enough to what already exists. Why do they need a completely new set for that? Why not just offer bigger weapons as a selection within BS? If the damage is relating to weapon size BS does a fair bit, these would need to be one shotting EBs if size matters. |
The concept art included a sword much like that one, a railway crossing barrier torn out of the ground and a giant sword-shaped thing with blades rammed through it.
If it was JUST swords it'd be called 'Titan Swords' or 'Titan Blades'.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I've seen a lot of people going on and on about titan weapons, I wondered what the reference was from and why people got so excited. Now I've seen the initial pics and understand what they mean I have to say... WTF! I'm confused now why anyone would find them awesome in any way shape or form.
I don't understand why the devs would bother to waste time on these. Part of me thinks maybe it's just a cheap and easy way of adding a silly new powerset to appease the players but I suspect there had to be some serious clipping issues to overcome given their size so maybe not so easy. As they're so titan they should have a titan price on the market, 1600 points. |
(But seriously, two-handed and / or huge melee weapons have been highly requested for years. If you didn't know that, you've been spending too much time in the base editor )
I don't understand why people are saying PS shouldn't have made the set.

I said those honking big swords look bloody stupid - in all the various places I've seen them, and I stand by that assertion.
I did not say, however:
1) they shouldn't have made them
2) I don't like them
3) I won't buy them
Oh damn, that's gonna be fun.
In the room the women come and go
Talking of Michelangelo.
To be honest the whole anime/manga "buster sword" thing never really excited me in general. The whole "no way that could work in real life" thing usually ruined it for me.
But because this is a super-powers game I might break down and roll up a cliche "tiny-teenaged-anime-super-girl with hyper-huge sword" character just for fun anyway. |

No. Brutes complained that they still don't outnumber Tankers by a large enough margin and the devs agree that stealing Fury from Tankers was cool back in the day, so Brutes will be getting Bruising in i22.
In exchange, Tankers will gain an auto taunt power that randomly removes Inf and valuable recipes the Tanker is carrying and automatically distributes them to any nearby Scrappers and Brutes. . |

When something good happens to me, I can never enjoy it....
I am always too busy looking for the inevitable punchline...
BEHOLD THE POWER OF CHEESE!
I think the moral of this story is be careful what you wish for!
I recently commented to a friend that I never post much because I tended not to be on either extreme of any 'discussion' where two opposing factions were tearing each others throats out in a bid to convince the other side they were correct, and so my posts tended to get passed by unnoticed...
Anyway, I still think the example shown looks silly. Maybe other variations might float my boat a bit more, who knows. The mechanic behind it sounds interesting, only time will tell if I like it (the previous mechanics tied into sets have been a bit hit and miss, I think). In my defense I might point out I never said they shouldn't. I was, and until I see it in action probably still am, unconvinced as to whether it was different enough to what is already in game to warrant a whole new powerset being built around it, though my wording could have been better to get that point across.
Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas
Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.
Yeah, that kind of bugs me about people who think Stalker powers should be limited.
They disagreed with /Shield stalkers because it apparently doesn't make sense. Well it doesn't make sense that being invulnerable can make you invisible either! |
In Berserk, the huge sword made sense (character had his sword grow as he did) and they even made fun of it (when fighting whats-his-name, WHN was standing on Guts' sword at times)

Can I say I'm not a fan of shields without getting beaten to death?

First, I don't really like how Shield Charge won't just activate on my target, and that I have to instead show the game where I want to land. It's an extra nano-second of work, but it bugs me every single time I use the power
More IMPORTANTLY though, I don't like how I'm stuck in the 'combat ready' stance for all eternity unless I turn off my toggles.
For me, the ridiculously big weapons are the draw. I'm talking about things like the Cahoseater/Armageddon Blade from Darksiders, the Buster Sword from Final Fantasy, the sword form Berserk and more of this nature. If it's not silly, then they haven't made it big enough.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

*starts having Scrapper team with a lot of tankers*

Let's drop the charade that Tankers are being used as anything other than farm tools by people who can't yet build a good enough Brute. That's why Tankers should renamed 'Tractors'; there's no better name for an AT that hits like a little girl but can move at a steady pace back and forth across a farm. They're a real workhorse. Like Boxer in Animal farm.
.
So you see the beauty of that power. For Brutes and Scrappers.

I just hope they don't resort to Dark Illusion.
Kinetic Melee has a pretty unique build up mechanic, Dual Pistols introduced the "Ammo type" concept which they are applying to Staff Melee (hopefully in a better way).
Demons is unique among Mastermind sets in both the attacks using all new Whip animations and in terms of the variety of minions with different powers & effects you get and the "make a demon poop tiny fire imps" power.
Personally I didn't enjoy Kinetic Melee as the first few powers are very samey to me and Demons are screeching nightmares but they did both try and introduce new things to the sets compared to older sets in the AT.
