Other than them wasting their time? Let's be fair here:
1) They spent time designing a new powerset they though some players would like.
2) They were obviously right: some players are going to spend time building and playing Titan Weapon characters.
3) You're not going to waste time buying or using the set.

No one's time was wasted.

Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas

Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.

You appear to be getting mixed up here. I never said anything about time being wasted. I just said it looks daft and I'll probably be laughing at the swarm of people playing it next week. Which is sorta the point too, giant weapons are supposed to be tongue-in-cheek

I just hope we don't have a bunch of people who buy it and then ***** about it not being the super-best-set-in-the-game like we had with Street Justice.

Seconded. A lot. I can understand not having a new pet set terribly often, with all the animation resources involved, but the rest?.. Yeah.

Nope, you didn't. That was cryonic_EU.

This.

It won't happen though because there's still Dark Control and Dark Assault to do, both of which will be as lazy (mechanically) as the last Control and Assault primaries added to the game.

Earth Assault was pretty lazy alright, it was a copy and pasta job, but I like the thought that went into Electric Control, the layered controls and quick recharging AOE control powers (or pseudo-AOE in the case of the chaining Confuse) work well with steamrollering teams.

Dark Assault and Dark Control I am worried about, there's a chance that Dark Assault could be everything I hate about Dark in one place (long animating 7 foot cone attack, a snipe early on, not very good Ranged Damage due to the lack of a proper Tier 3 blast, NightFail).

Mind you it could also go the other way (Siphon Life, some Soul Drain / Mire derivative, changed enough to avoid the "no duplicate powers" pseudo-rule, other interesting bits and bobs like Oppresive Gloom, Cloak of Fear or the damage aura in there somewhere).

Even a nerf, or Boffer sword of that size hits with some respectable impact.

I'd like to apologise unreservedly to anyone who was incensed by my less than positive assessment of the above mentioned epic new powerset. When I first heard talk of titan weapons I imagined all sorts of options that could fall under this heading, bloody big swords just wasn’t one of them.

To be fair I guess I should have expanded the "I don't understand why the devs would bother to waste time on these." part. It's a melee weapons set, maybe I'm missing a trick here but I'm assuming it's going to act very like BS except with a bigger sword. While waste and time perhaps was too strong it doesn't feel different enough to what already exists. Why do they need a completely new set for that? Why not just offer bigger weapons as a selection within BS?

If the damage is relating to weapon size BS does a fair bit, these would need to be one shotting EBs if size matters.

Paragon has finite time and finite resources both bought with consumer dollars. I see nothing wrong with giving my opinion of how they spend those resources. Which isn't to say they're required to listen to me or anything but I at least get a voice.

I believe it has some ramping damage mechanic where you build damage or effects based on previous hits. So essentially another combo based set, I assume.

I do think the giant weapons, silly as they are, would look even worse without their own animations and just plunking them into Broad Sword.

The mechanic it has is actually pretty cool, from what we have been told. The attacks (animations and rech time) start off slow, and then as a meter builds the attacks speed up (again animation, and rech). This makes it nothing like BS.

Also, this is ONE weapon model. There will be more, and they will not all be swords from what we have seen. One was even a Rail Road Crossing sign. The idea behind the set is that it is large weapons, not just large swords.

Its much better than that, from what we have heard, the animation times of the attacks get shorter as you build up 'momentum' (from attacking). Not sure about the exact details but hopefully the animations will change too (i.e. between a low momentum/high momentum version).

Imagine it on a brute, the longer you fight, the faster you swing your weapon and the harder it hits (thanks to fury building up alongside momentum)!!!

Do. Want.

Always remember, we were Heroes.

Fair enough. I don't have a problem with someone disliking, or even hating a power, or a costume, or pretty much anything else. I don't have a problem with such opinions being expressed as personal opinions. Just gets my hackles up when it starts to slide over into the "so it's wrong" category. I don't like Superspeed. Aesthetically, I dislike having nuclear-strength athlete's foot while it's on. But I don't think adding it to the game was a waste of anyone's resources, and I don't really care if anyone else uses it. If the effect doesn't bother them, more power to 'em.

Re: TW rehashing BS, there *is* a new mechanic associated with the set. "Momentum" is supposed to accelerate the animations/attack speed as an attack chain progresses. As advertised, I'd love to see this in action.

I believe there's some Dominator-related stuff down the pipe in I22. Whether it affects Controllers by proxy is something to be seen.

61866 - A Series of Unfortunate Kidnappings - More than a coincidence?
2260 - The Burning of Hearts - A green-eyed monster holds the match.
379248 - The Spider Without Fangs - NEW - Some lessons learned (more or less.)

The rail crossing sign looks just as silly to me because I have to think "Why is he just carrying around that sign everywhere?" I could see someone tearing it up as an impromptu weapon but lugging it around through an office building or Crey lab? Can't he afford a real weapon? Heck, at least sewer-shield sort of makes sense since a manhole cover would make a decent shield if you're (super)strong enough to heft it about. A rail crossing sign just looks impractical.

Expressing the opinion "I don't like it" is fine, openly justified or not. Saying they "wasted their time making it" and/or "they should have done something else (I like) instead" demonstrates a rather high degree of disregard for anyone else's desires or interest. Again, the only thing I had a real problem with, here.

Another example: I love Dominators. Second favorite AT in the game. But when people started complaining that, because Dominators got nothing for i21, the devs should have "not wasted their time" on the stuff that DID come out with i21... well, I wasn't content to let that slide uncommented, either.

And since MMs are my favorite AT... I've gotten pretty good at being patient about what powersets are released for them... for previously mentioned reasons.

If they have more than one "random" object weapon, you could make several otherwise identical costumes, but with different weapons, and "pick something else up" for each fight.

Did something similar with my MA scrapper - one costume alternated the attack animations one way, the other looked the same, but "flipped" the animations.

I think both anime and superhero comics have embarassing / stupid corners to their universes. Garish clashing tights and untenable disguises for comics. Giant swords and school uniforms as costumes in anime.

So I am definitely gonna get Titan weapons to make a giant nerf sword school jacket pink and green tights and glasses-wearing schoolboy. I think I will also make a different character who has all 10 costumes as a result of clicking random, but each will have the same nerf sword. And maybe a trenchcoat. Finally, if they make a big freakin club, I will make a caveman or frost giant of some type.

So yeah, I am in the "this is stupid, but stupid is good" camp. Good times!

Electric Control: Sure, it was good, but look at Kinetic Melee, Dual Pistols, Demon Summoning and everything after. Electric Control doesn't have any sort of unique gimmick, special mechanic or even elaborate power effects.

I just hope they don't resort to Dark Illusion.

I don't understand why people are saying PS shouldn't have made the set. Final Fantasy is a massively popular game. This will sell like hot cakes!

I won't buy it. But I know loads of people who will!

And yet look at the proportion of hilt-to-blade on what you posted, then go back and look at the proportion on the screenshot. Your screenshot is about 1:3.something, while the in-game screenshot is closer to 1:1.2something.

I also have to disagree with Titanic Weapons looking "realistic." We have enough realistically-proportioned weapons in the game. The point of having this set is to have absurdly oversized weapons, even if they look impossible to wield. I'm sure there's something to be said about weight balance, but the fact of the matter is I want a sword with a long, thick blade. What's on the picture is more than thick enough, but as it stands right now, the Legacy Broadsword has a longer blade and, therefore, a longer reach.

I maintain that that hilt length is good, but I want to see weapons with longer blades by quite a bit. I also maintain that I want to see a sword with a blade as wide as my character is at the shoulders and as long as my character is tall at least up to the neck, with any hilt beyond that sticking above my character's head. Because that's what the original Buster Sword in that one teaser pic we got months and months ago looked like. It had a much different hilt-to-blade ratio. I can't find the screenshot to comment on it now, but it wasn't anywhere near as close to being 1:1.
