Come on now. Solo play's a perfectly viable way to play this game. I normally run with a friend, but normally not in a group of 4 or more. Why should any playstyle be excluded from a holiday event's shiny?

Most of my global friends who would have run this with me, quit when they decided that there was never going to be a solo path to the incarnates. My better half never starts teams, he joins them, and he is usally asleep during my prime playing time...if it took a minimum of two to start this I could fire up his account and leave his toon at the door and go off and enjoy myself...but it takes 4...

Unhappy sigh.

My Blaster, Coffin Singer, would really like those Bats and Crows..

Lisa.
To both Lisa and TJ, I'll be glad to help ya run this. Lisa, which server you on?

As of right now, the Halloween costume pack is on sale in the Paragon Market, and it does include the Bats aura. No MoC CCE, but the aura is global, as part of the pack.

There are a few cool things in the Halloween costume pack. I saw the following for females:

Beehive hairdo
Medusa snake hair (Non-animated. Sorry, GG)
Vampire face
Medusa face
Brain-in-a-jar head
Fish monster gloves
Fish monster boots

That's all I can recall offhand.

"Brain in a jar"...

That'll make a lot of would-be Mad Scientists happy.

Its accessed through the LFG queue, so you could just jump into the queue: I'm guessing this mission's difficulty level is closer to standard difficulty, so teaming up with a random group won't be problematic.

But if you actually want to solo it, the alternative is to make two Freemium accounts under your master account, roll one alt each in them, and level them to 15, which shouldn't be hard. SK them to your main and run a bunch of missions or just play them to 15. Once you have two level 15s, one in each freebee account, you can then solo the mission (if you are actually capable of soloing it) by making a team of you, your significant other, your two freebees, make a closed league, and enter the queue.

Having the ability to make free filler accounts is one of those opportunities Freedom offers to people who want or need to solo content that can't be started solo. Its not optimal, but its an option.

The in-game info says 2-4 players, but Test was bugged that it only allowed exactly 4 to start it.

I always used to looked forward to holiday content. Now I'm just disappointed.

And here I thought the idea now was supposed to be more options.

If Test was bugged, then the bug might have made it Live.

The LFG refused to let an Event start with less than 4 players. (I was not part of a group, and singly joined the queue. The LFG cancelled the Event when one person failed to enter.)

On Ustream, TheNet confirmed that it is 4 players only (4 min / 4 max) and that the in-game text is the bug.

It's so hard to just hit "LFG" and join the queue? A friend and I did a bunch of the Dr. Kane trials with the two of us on a team joining the queue, and within about 30 seconds we had the pop-up to join it. At that point we really didn't pay attention to the other two people and just plowed on through the mission. It ain't that hard.

Meh ran it twice.... not a fan of being lvl 29... Did it on my badge toon..now I am done with it for the year. No desire to run around at level 29...

Liked the mish etc... just thought the auto-exemplar was stupid. Oh yeah and not a fan of it having to be 4 people.

Gotta say for the effort that was probably put into developing it:

Ooof.

So...
Many...
Zombies...

I'm only about half-way through getting that CCE on my bird-things and I'm already starting to crave fresh brains.

Ok what's with the insanely giant sized Nightmares that spawn during zombie invasions?! It is cool you guys can make Godzilla sized creatures but this is too big for constant spawns. Maybe one unique GM in a zone or mish etc but a bunch of them is overwhelming. You can't see half the GM. I hope they revert back to normal size soon.

Agreed. They were big enough last year. They were, what... 9 feet tall? Tall enough. And I'm assuming you guys thought it was going to be a treat when we first saw it.

Yeah, it was.

At first.

Now it's just annoying.

Dr. Kane's House of Horror will add even more panache to the existing Zombie Apocalypse and Deadly Apocalypse, as you venture into a nightmarish mansion full of danger!

Check out the updated Halloween page here for more information on the upcoming event!

Whoever's writing these things really needs to learn the meaning of the phrase "up to," as in "can be less than, but no more than." It's rather disappointing to discover that my wife and I can't run our duo through this on our own, and when we try to join the queue, it keeps resetting because someone drops out.

We don't mostly play on our own because the game is better that way, we play on our own because it's a pain in the neck to have to rely on other random players (who are complete strangers and may or may not be flaky twits) in order to get anything done.

We designed our characters to work well in tandem with each other and to complement each other's strengths and weaknesses, and I'm sure the pair of us could handle a mission designed for four average players assembled randomly (i.e., through the LFG system), and I see no reason why we should be denied the opportunity to do so. If we go in the mission and fail, whose loss is it, really? It's just our time and effort at stake, so what's the issue with allowing smaller groups?

Holy Vuja De.

This was what my wife and I were just experiencing (and thinking about the "up to" statement). We typically play the game as a duo as well, with our characters optimized around each other and our play style.

It would be nice if so many events did not center around the playground concept of "playing nice" with others. We view this is a game first (fun, and a good outlet after dealing with the non-IT literate all day at work), and a social network last. The designers have proven that they can make scaleable missions, if they so desire.

That being said, I do love the Halloween event.

I'm afraid I just can't get into the event this year. I got tired of grinding for badges. The new stuff is team only, so I'm not interested in that. But a new expansion in another of my games just came out, so I have other things to keep me busy anyway.
