I really appreciate you guys doing this, and bringing back the Hero Con style event. I attended both Hero Cons and had a great time.

But like so many others, I just can't make it from Ohio on such short notice. I understand you ran into problems, so not blaming, just expressing my disappointment in having to miss it.

Also I just want to say, as a midwesterner, I get so sick and tired of all the "Why aren't you coming to my back yard?" wank every time you guys announce that you're going somewhere or hosting something. It only makes sense that this would be hosted where Paragon Studios does business, and that happens to be northern California. I can't believe the audacity it takes to think it's reasonable or even fair for Paragon Studios to ship all of their employees, equipment, and swag (and Hero Con had the nicest swag) to some out of the way place because one person can't be bothered to save up for a plane ticket (granted this time there isn't time to save up, but this applies to other times as well). I'm starting to think that people will only be happy when you come to each of our homes personally, sit at our kitchen tables, and tell us what you're going to do with the game.

And if you do, come to mine first. I make cheesecake.

Edit - Oh my. This is my first post after a redname. I don't know what to do!

Beef of course.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Paragon's place of business is "the Internet". Their physical POPs are in California with servers in Texas.

My company's physical POP is Seattle and our distribution point is in Atlanta. Yet we make two-to-three midwest cons a year.

All the employees? No. Simply enough to run the booth in shifts. It's not as if they're like one of the T-Shirt cubes with hundreds of shirts and needing half a dozen people in the booth every minute.

If they're REALLY worried about the economics of drayage, I can put them in touch with someone who can help them seriously economize.

Nah. My apartment is a pig sty. But if they showed up at a con in the midwest region, I'd be on that like flies on poop.

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

I have an idea... come to Vegas!

Seriously though, due to the short notice, I won't be able to commit to saying I can make it. I would like to, but it just depends on how a few other things pan out first.

Man, had I known of this months ago... it could have made a stellar birthday present for myself (b-day is the 20th)... if it also came with a lottery win.

I am too broke to get to Cali for this, but man would it have been awesome!

Yes, please.

Trying to find out if someone is going to be rooming with me and it's difficult to do that without more info.

As well as trying to get the info so that I can book my flights.

I have very little patience. That should be obvious for one rather important reason.

Patience is a virtue.

I've never been very virtuous.

Surgery is never fun. Pretty major stuff if your going to be out for 14 days or more...

Mandibular surgery is never fun. Heck, any surgery is never fun.

I got lucky being able to attend the second HeroCon the weekend after my gall bladder was removed using the old fashioned method of a long incision. I'd have never made it without the help of my Justice player friends, the help from the Paragon staff and the rest of the players that kept an eye out for me.

Hope all goes well for you and hope to see you at a future event. Hopefully, we'll have adequate notice next time so that people can get time off and have time to financially prepare.

Ditto! Hopefully we can talk about Real World Hero while we're there?

I just need to figure out how to get from SF Nob Hill area (where I'm going to be staying with a friend and my husband since my hubby and I are driving down from Oregon) to the Meetup.

Hi,

BART is your best friend. The Bay Area Rapid Transit rail service is superb.

I used to fly over from the UK to stay in San Jose when my son worked at the old Cryptic studio's and on the days I was not there annoying him and hanging out, we would jump the transit train and head for SF.

The trains are really nice and clean and fast and cheap, and of course, stop at Palo Alto.

Hope you have a cracking con

For those who are not local to the area (or those who are and need some help taking transit to help ameliorate the parking issue at the venue), http://511.org/ is a very very useful site. You put in where you're coming from and where you're headed (Dinah's Garden Hotel at 4261 El Camino Real, Palo Alto, CA for those who don't want to look it up) and it spits out a route.

Erm, sort of.

As someone who lives about three miles from the Pummit site, let me just say that BART doesn't run anywhere near there. The rail service in the area is Caltrain (commuter rail), which has quite limited service off-peak and weekends (you can check their schedule at caltrain.org.) If you're ambitious enough to try using it to get to the Pummit, there's a free bus (VTA Airport Flyer, route 10) between San Jose airport and the Santa Clara Caltrain station, you'll want to get off at the San Antonio stop. It'll be about a half-mile schlep from there to the hotel. From SFO, you'd take BART to the Millbrae station and take Caltrain southbound from there.

Public transportation-wise, you'll want to take BART to Millbrae, the Caltrain to the Pummit.
