I'm in.
Thanks for just keeping my hopes up, TonyV, even if it comes to nothing.
My beloved polar bear (named Jelly) and his evil friend Polly appreciate you.
-
I don't know where I'll go, to be honest. Or if I'll go anywhere.
I've loved Protector so much. Y'all have been a home to me and I really appreciate it. I've been alternating between being weepy and numb all afternoon. Looking forward to whatever time we have left.
Keep in touch.
Love,
Polly

I am so in for this. I'll bring my namesake!
(By which I mean I'm @Pollyanna Matronic and I'll be bringing Pollyanna Matronic) -
Quote:Oh good, my plans are working. Soon, all members of the forum cartel shall join me.And the girl talking about murder arson and jaywalking is Polly Animatronic.
And it's humor people! HUMOR!
But, seriously, jaywalking is just dangerous.
Quote:Having met her at both the summit in November and at this one, I can assure you that she is awesome and one of the nicest and friendliest people you will ever run across.
Quote:Pollyanna Matronic was probably the only villain at the summit, which unfortunately seems like an accurate representation of the hero to villain ratio of the game population.
I can't kill everyone. Who would I hang out with? Plus, it's hard enough to get a team going redside. -
A lot of us were also locals. I live less than an hour from Palo Alto, so it would feel like a waste not to come and poke at the devs.
-
Thanks for the compliments on the cube! It'll be at the Player Summit, where I'll be squeezing it maniacally.
I am a mouse pad destroyer. I just slaughter the things, and I have no idea how. So I finally gave up, and now I tape a piece of paper to my desk and use it until I wear through it.
Erm...I mean...there are top secret documents in there. -
Here's my space!
Textbooks from 8 or 9 years ago boost my monitors to ergonomic heights. My desktop background rotates through commissions I've had done over on deviantART.
I have my little map of the Rogue Isles right above my monitor, and the /em invent cube that Layla made me close at hand. When you squeeze it, it glows!
Also nearby are personal grooming supplies. I often do my nails or floss while while waiting for trials to form. Vitamins, too. Gotta stay Strong & Pretty, yannow. -
Quote:I'll be there. Last year, I posted as much as I could as quickly as I could. I'm not perfect, but I sure like robots. So who has Twitter that's going? So i know who to follow. I hope to see some good Intel/Info with this year's summit.
I'm @PollyMatronic on Twitter. -
I'll definitely be at the game night, and will probably bring a bag full of games for sharing, too.
Hooray! -
Quote:How patient are you?So is that particular hotel near enough for tourist sightseeing to not require a vehicle?
There is public transit available from Palo Alto into various other, more touristy cities. If you wanted to go to Pier 39 in San Francisco, you're looking at a bus, a train, two cable cars, and two hours. The Tech Museum in San Jose? Two buses, a train, and 75 minutes.
There are certainly things to see near Palo Alto (no matter what sorts of derisive things I may say about the area, having undergone the horrifically boring experience of growing up there; spoiler alert: when you're a teenager, basically everything is boring), like Stanford University (Cantor Center for the Arts, cactus garden, Rodin sculpture garden, etc.) or the downtown area. But it's not a tourist hotbed in the same way San Francisco is.
If you'd really like the full on tourist experience, I'd honestly suggest getting a car for at least a day. Once you are in San Francisco, transit around is fairly trivial (especially if you have a smartphone, as Google Maps has a good understanding of public transit), but getting there from Palo Alto is the trick. -
I'll be there!
I'm local to the Bay Area. I live in Alameda (with the nuclear wessels), about ten minutes from the Oakland airport. If you find bargain tickets flying into OAK, drop me a message and let's see if we can work out a ride to get you where the party is! -
What side do you pick more than others?
I technically have more bluesiders than redsiders (because that's where most other people play, the crazies), but I identify strongly as a redsider. I can go out and go good deeds any time I want to in the real world. I may not be able to fly, but I have a mean foot stomp. It is a fantasy to me to be cruel and mean and not actually suffer any consequences for it, so I'm all about the redside in game. My main and namesake is a villain, but my significant other and a lot of the friends I've made in game are goody goodies, so I have bluesiders to play with them. I could go rogue, but those villain merits are just so lucrative...
What play style do you prefer?
I love me some scrappers. And some masterminds. I would die before playing a defender or controller for longer than a couple of missions.
What power set(s) do you favor?
I like toggles and pets. The more clickable powers I have, the more confused I get. So give me a good willpower scrapper or bots mastermind, and I'll click and forget about it.
What zones do you like the most?
I am oddly attached to Sharks. It's just so cozy. And a great place to hunt for tips.
Do you usually play as a male or female (word of hatred) ''toon''?
With the exception of two toons that needed to be male to complete the concept, my toons are all female. In a sense, I view each toon as a facet of myself, and most of my facets are female.
Views on Role Playing?
It can be fun. I have two toons that I do light RP with, but I don't have the time, energy, or focus for regular RP involvement. But I ran SSA5 last night RP-style, and it was satisfying and fun.
Servers?
My main is on Protector, as are most of my in-game friends. There's a significant redside presence there compared to the other servers I play on, so it became my home for the good company doing bad things. My main hero is on Virtue, where my real life other half plays. I also play on Justice, and have toons on Liberty and Pinnacle for teaming with friends. -
I will be there! Just made arrangements with my boss to take the day off of work.
Any interest in a pre-Pummit karaoke outing to practice? I'll organize one. -
Thanks so much everyone. The cards have all been totally awesome.
My holiday card list in past years has numbered about a hundred friends and family (what? Vistaprint makes it too easy) but I usually only get three or four cards in return. This has all be basically too awesome for words. I think I had a card in my mailbox almost every day in the three weeks leading up to Christmas.
Hooray! -
I've been getting cards right and left. Thanks everyone!
Here's this year's digital card!

Don't! Don't soak it in water! That's what activates the chemicals!!!

Yay! My first card arrived today. Thanks, Yeti!
