That now has me thinking more that the Doctor does something to fake his death so that he can go back to staying in the shadows.
Yes it appears that whatever else is going on the Doctor needs to convince The Silence that he has been killed. If you remember one of The Silence watched from the bluff above.

It feels like a long scam on his part to trick them. I do think a Doctor is going to his death. We have seen that 2 of a person can be created in the time stream and note The Dead Doctor didn't have the TARDIS with him. I think he leaves Craig and at some point soon splits himself. One taking the TARDIS one using that wrist time travel thing. And it is the Second Doctor who actually dies.

The whole Gamma Forest Doctor means Great Warrior as well as the Doctor not knowing her could mean either that was something the future Doctor did or something another Doctor did going back to the two Doctor theory.

I assumed it was just a fleeting glimpse. After all we have seen how deadly it can be to load Time Lord knowledge into a human mind.

Not counting any time-locked away in the Time War. Gallifrey still exists. It's just been sealed off from the rest of time and space.

Not counting any resembling Peter Davidson who have spent the last 450 years stuck back in their own private anti-matter universe following a rather confusing weekend spent in 1980s Amsterdam (we've all had em)

There's also the Dr. clone/daughter Time Lord, Jenny still running around. There's also been rumors that the Rani may return next season.

Hmm, yeah I guess so; that makes sense...didn't think about that while watching.

I kinda get the feeling that Jenny will be quietly forgotten, at least by Moffat (no telling what the next showrunner will do).

Might be something in that; I've always had a sneaking suspicion that the most likely person to be in the space suit is the Doctor himself (regardless of all the clues telling us it's River). I never really liked the Substitute-Ganger-Doctor-dies theory though (the Gangers turn to mush when they die, so it would have been obvious), a duplicated Doctor might work.

The most likely outcome is the obvious one: the Doctor is shot by Spacesuit River but cheats and doesn't actually die; I hope the ending isn't that dull, I want something clever!

Did anyone else notice in the shot of River under water that there was some kind of object in the background on her left that looked somewhat like a rope?

Not gonna believe it until I see it. For years now people kept speculating "Donna is the Rani" or something; in some places I hang out online it's become a running joke. So don't believe everything you hear.

Who knew that the ability to act well with babies was a critical part of playing the Doctor?

Of course, that is why he usually travels around with a human...

Such a sweet episode. Stormaggedon: Lord of Darkness, totally ruled.

The only clunker for me was the extended gaydar failure on the part of the saleslady, Val. That got annoying quickly.

Statesmonkey Sez: Lighten up! It's a game, for Lincoln's sake!
Also: Six years of casual play begins to look an awful lot like one year of hardcore play.

The fact that the entire preview for the next episode involves an awful lot, but not a trip back to Nevada, seems to indicate that sticking River in the suit at the end of this past week's episode was a giant fakeout. But we'll see.

I'm actually more curious as to how the hell Madame Kovarian can remember the Silence.. no one else can.

And if you look at the pictures in the new Issue of DW Mag- EVERYONE is wearing her Eyepatch, even the Doctor.. Moffat I hate you sir!

You may have answered your own question, there. Maybe the eyepatches have something to do with remembering the Silence.

They use post-hypnotic suggestion and as far as we know use it consciously, you only don't remember them if they don't want you to remember them.

There's a picture of one on the inside of it?

Why should the bulk of the story involve the trip to Nevada? We already saw that part at the beginning of the season. It's probably near the end of the episode.

Honestly, it's such a simple explanation but it logically seems to make sense.

Yeah, after seeing a bunch of photos with various characters wearing them, I started to lean towards that conclusions. There was even a wallpaper released that has The Doctor wearing one.

Yeah maybe with only one eye seeing the Silence they can't control you...but if you see them with two eyes, then you do get controlled by them!

This is why you never see them controlling pirates!
