I mean it.

Shoo.

Still here? Okay. I just finished all of Twinshot's arcs, and I have to say... bravo. I was kept guessing till the very end, and then proven wrong!

Plus, Proton is one of the most well designed characters in the game, and here's why.

Proton is supposedly the son of Manticore and Sister Psyche, from a future where Arachnos took over the world. He was raised by Positron, and traveled to the past to stop that future from ever happening. On Virtue (or Union, for that matter), this is a character concept no one would take seriously. But it was an NPC, so after snickering a bit, I went with it.

So, throughout the entire three part story, he is trying to "fix the timestream" in the background. He doesn't draw too much attention to himself.

But then, at the end of everything, you find out he was the one summoning Praetorians to this time.

And then everything made perfect sense.

His bio was supposed to be ridiculous, because it was a fabrication.

And all that talk about fixing the timestream? The reason Praetorians appeared when he set up those beacons. He was mindwashed into thinking that he was calling in help from his time, when he was really opening the gates for Praetorian invaders.

I dunno how much of what he said was true. Personally, I think that the entire Arachnos Army story, as well as most of his scientific knowledge was fed into his thinkbox.

But the way it call came together was brilliant. I want to see more of all the Shining Stars, and I would love a confirmation on some of the iffier aspects of who Proton is.

the story is funny, some, including myself, also saw the stars as humorous jokes on specific player types. dillo's the committed rp'er, proton is the mary sue( hence the insane timeline twists and ham-handed links to major canon characters), grimm is the refugee from fantasy mmos, twinshot is kind of the "good teammate" counterpart of flambeaux's prissy obnoxious attention grabber character. at leas thats how i saw them, theories abounded.

The whole Dillo is an rp'er theory is based around someone misreading what Grym was talking about. Dillo is an alien not some super roleplayer.

I found the whole cast of Twinshot's arc, including Twinshot herself, to be quirky but very much likeable, even if they're a little too heavy on the funny talk. Whoever wrote this did a bang-up job, I'd say, as there is a quite a breadth of concepts that work well together, even if I feel they lack a more dramatic cast member (the emo, in other words) and possibly lack an angry one. Still, good job all around.

To be fair, flambeux is both the emo, and the angry one in later tip missions.. it just takes awhile for her to go that route.

Yes, the character is an alien. An alien with a distinctive speech pattern a motivation laden backstory - the kind of character a RPer would make.

She doesn't fit that role in the arc itself, though.

The thing that gets me is that your patron is Manticore, and as near as I can tell he never acknowledges Proton. I just found that a bit odd. If a guy was running around declaring he was my son from an alternate timeline, I'd be there with doctors to draw a blood and DNA sample, and have the Winnebago hidden around the corner and packed for a family-bonding weekend just in case he's telling the truth.

Admittedly, Manticore is aware that something is wrong with your team, but nothing in the dialog says he's suspicious of Proton.

That is kind of weird, yes. But then again, Proton never actually tells anyone.

It's just in his Bio.

...And I love Dillo, Alien, RPer, or not.

You all are to be stopping making the air sounds, or my bubble of feelings will, as you say, hurl itself towards the waters.

The writing around here is so bad and so absurd that it is no longer possible to tell the difference between things we're supposed to take seriously and self-parody.

The problem with the whole "who's the mole" thing ("I always preferred the term traitor" -- Andrew Schmidt, The Closer) is that it appears to have been written by someone who's heard of the least-likely-suspect mystery genre, but didn't bother to learn how to write one.

Of course, this is just one of the tutorial arc set's problems.

I liked the final "good team vs. evil team" showdown in the last mission. I was itching to fight as I read the dialogue, which was excellent.

Just made me think Manticore is an even bigger jerk than i first thought.

First that fake setup, and the fact he doesn't have a single picture of his wife in his mansion. Feh.

And yet he has like 5 copies of THE SCREAM hanging all over the place.

I thought the Shooting Stars are was pretty great, considering what passed as story telling in the early levels of the game pre-Freedom. If I were joining the game for the first time, this arc would really make me feel like I was part of an established supergroup, especially that last heroes vs. villains face off.

The characters, though, are definitely playing on the various aspects of the playerbase.

And I can see why Flambeaux went emo and then ragequit: Twinshot effectively kills their supergroup at the end just because of her own past. I would imagine that Flambeaux is quite needy emotionally and the Shooting Stars were there to absorb most of that for Paragon at large. With no supergroup to pal around with anymore, she broke mentally.

Plus the fact he has the worst security system installed in his mansion... open door policy Hero or tight-fisted much?

So where does everyone fit in the Five Man Band concept?

Well, he spent all his money on healing arrows.
